Within a month Australia would look like the assault capital of the world. It skews perspective from fact. There is no epidemic beyond what is being manufactured in peoples' heads.

We need a change in how we buy/sell firearms that reduces the likelihood of mentally unstable people acquiring firearms. As it stands right now, meeting the age requirement is the only real factor in place. Even then, the children of stable people can still be unstable. Then the responsibility falls to the parents of these children to make better decisions and alter their own habits for the well-being of the children and the safety of others. Regardless of how we break it down, even developing an effective system won't prevent the crimes. America's problems go far beyond gun laws. They originate in our homes and in our educational system. There are too many problems to address them all. I think these things will continue to happen regardless of what actions we take. We can only reduce the number of instances and continue making changes that help to decrease the crimes incrementally. It's a team effort, and it feels like there aren't many team players in this regard.
