The Loot System Detects What You Already Have....
Yeah that's basically not true at all, unless my fire team is extremely unlucky. I got my 4th pair of Raid boots tonight. Still no chest piece or helm. And every one else is in the same boat.
Was that whole "loot system detects what you've already gotten" just made up or is it working as intended?
Also, who came up with Moldering Shards? Slap them please. It actually wouldn't be TOO terrible of an idea if it worked properly. Two times in a row now my "second drop" has been, what's that? You guessed it. 2 Moldering Shards! So I basically spent 20 shards to get two back. It's so genius.
EDIT: Bungie, the responses here are proof. We hope you're taking a look at this.

I agree that the system is some what broken. I've gotten 3 Telesto , 2 Monte Carlo , 3 the last word, 4 stags and if I did any more ToC I would probably gotten more repeats.

Yea that's complete bs. Nothing has changed. I'm getting duplicates of items everywhere. In and outside of the raid

For real, I keep getting lower light versions of what I have. But to be fair I have only cleared the raid 3 times on my hunter, and it took probably 30 times in VoG to get my full raid set. I'll be patient, plus you get double drops in hard mode.

I have done oryx 3 times on my Titan with 20+ shards and every time I get something new or doubled I recently got a exotic drop from him

Pretty sure the "smart loot" system people keep referring to never existed and was simply attributed recently to a quote taken out of context. RNG is RNG, just dismantle, claim your shards/marks and move on.

1 OdpowiedźNot defending Bungie, but they did mention that while talking about faction packages. Although I still get the same crap from that so it clearly doesn't work either way you put it.

It's not true at all man I keep getting moldering shards over and over again on the raid so it's obviously not true

Here how it probably works. You have a 25% chance your first run. You get an item. Next run, that item's probability is now 22%, while the others are 26%. You are more likely than not to get different gear - but still have a high likelihood of getting a duplicate.

I know the feeling. Tons of exotic engrams dropped, almost all of them helmets or chests which turn into skullfort or alpha lupi. I actually had way less duplicate items before they brought in the "smart loot" system, in fact it feels like the opposite of what they said it is. Not sure if Bungie lied about the new loot system or if it's just yet another thing they need to fix.

Yep. A couple of fusion rifles, three ghost skins, moldering shards.... Doing a great job of giving me things I don't already have.
