Someone please name a game where Micro transactions resulted in free DLC. Non mobile games.
Title says it all. I'm posting this because everyone is under the impression that Bungie will GIVE YOU FREE DLC. When has Activision ever given out anything free? Input ladies and gentlemen. To all future haters unless you are a real gamer. Dont give your input. Mostly likely you're the problem.
Edit: So I didn't expect to be trending, awesome feedback! I must say most games mentioned were EA games. Doing updates and maintenance on video games is part of the 60 we initially pay for. I didn't play GTA 5 and it's safe to say the game is nowhere to be found. Destiny is unlike any game we have played before. Which is why we are still here a year later . When I played mass effect I don't recall Micro transactions , which resulted in free dlc. I hope everyone is correct and this doesn't turn into a pay to win.
Some said WoW, war frame, never winter. Now as far as WoW it's a monthly subscription so income is steady. Marco transaction there equals extra cash to use as they please. Warframe is free game, so they need to make money and micro transactions is there bread and butter . War frame is to its core a pay to win type of game. War frame is alot like destiny! Neverwinter didn't seem like a pay to win type of game, but micro transactions do give you an advantage. ESO is a prime example. You can't get a horse unless you have 40000 gold if I remember correctly. Or you can buy it off the bat and can get to places much quicker. They also had several other micro transactions.
IMO micro transactions are OK if strictly cosmetic. Other wise it's a downward spiral like so many other games.

Star Trek Online (STO) has never had paid DLC. Microtransactions have always paid for that content development and it is accessible to F2P and subscribers alike. The downside to the way STO handled this though is that power creep has gotten so bad through some of the ships you can buy (that have special consoles or traits) that it really has destroyed the concept of building anything but DPS ships. Healers or tanks are not needed, and PvP is non-existent. Not saying this will happen here, but this is part of the slippery slope that you, myself, and others are worried about. I agree that as long as it stays cosmetic, everything will be fine. But if they start making a lot of money off of this stuff, it will progress because the people in charge do not care about the customer when there is large amounts of easy cash to be made.

2 OdpowiedziGuild Wars 2. Beyond the $60 for the game, every update and new content past that was free. The game has been out since 2012 and their very first [i]paid[/i] expansion is coming later this month.

As a MOBA gamer as well microtransactions dont phase me at all. Sides im an adult with a job so i can buy it if i want. But i also agree with you on "i earned it" vs "i paid for it".

10 OdpowiedziWarframe aint pay to win bud. You can get anything in the game without buying stuff. Play before you say something Microtransactions are not pay to win.

Dust 514 is/was free to play, with free expansions. Just a whole lot of microtransactions.

If you want the game to get better bungie needs to bring in money. Simple economics. This was they can fund part of there operation without forcing everyone to pay and without becoming a pay to win game. Also dance moves are awesome! Why not bring this into the game. There are literally 0 negatives to this paying money for emotes. You get new dance moves and bungie can add more to the game or nothing changes for you.

The multiplayer DLC packs were of sufficient size (maps, classes, weapons, equipment, and even a new enemy type and a new difficulty level) that I ordinarily would have expected them to cost $10-15. Instead, they were free to download and play and 100% of the content was unlockable without spending a single extra cent.
