To all you raid elitist

Wanted to do the raid today. I'm a day one player. Playing a little catch up but wanted to join a raid team. Goto the lfg here and all I see for miles is, need to be this and need to have that. Need to have experience and need to be 297 or 301 or need a sniper and be 293. We'll you didn't have all this shit your first time so why all the assholes? I'll be watching football. Can't wait for fallout 4. Edit. Regardless of my level. My point being it's just like reading lfg when all the elite was crying for 6 gallies to run crota. Edit: was never looking to be carried. Didn't know it was a 280 290 300 system.

  • First of all, people like you need to learn that there's a pretty significant difference between an "elitist" and just a normal player without time to burn. Most people who make the requirement posts like myself simply do not have the amount of free time to have someone's weight pulling down the group. King's Fall is a hell of a lot less about individual player skill and a whole lot more about team based tactics and communication. If one player isn't pulling the weight because they don't know what to do, it's not like the other raids where someone can pick up the slack, that player is really dragging the whole effort down with them. I brought along a friend with no experience last night, and only had to explain everything once so he understood it, got all the way to Oryx and explained it once to him and he got it. Unfortunately a player in our group ran out of time and had to leave, then I pulled some random from LFG who lied about having Oryx experience, refused to listen and then completely failed multiple times. I proceeded to kick him from the group right away and replaced him with someone else with experience. Only took us two times after that to beat it. My point here is simple. If you're not going to learn how to do the raid, you're not going to be experienced at it. And if you're not experienced at it, then you're not going to be much of a help to people who really need it. Every time I see a post like this my reply is always the same, make your own group and set your own requirements. Stop bitching about other people's requirements.

DestinyLFG is a waste of time. Recently, I have found www.the100.io to be a better option to finding teams to raid with.

    • I don't think its elitist at all. And for the record, i dont have the light level or gear that most of these players would want. Im ok with that though. If its their fireteam, and they want someone with specific gear or light level, why should that bother me? When im ready to try the raid, ill just start my own fireteam if i have to. Why is this an issue? How can so many people cry to bungie to let them" play the way they want", then complain when others are trying to do just that. Its THEIR fireteam. THEY get to choose who they play with, or don't. Stop asking to be carried, or asking to be on a team that doesn't fit their requirements. Goddamn, its not elementary school p.e class. Not everyone gets to participate.

My raid posts look like this: Must be 300+ light, have 4500+ Grimoire, have Black Spindle and Touch of Malice. Is this elitist? I don't think so. I just want to have something in common with the folks on my fire team. Commonality is what binds us.

      • 290 reccomended for the raid, some people just want to get it done quick and need a companent team. If your looking for help dont look at the posts to find a team, make your own post. Not everyone is in a huge rush u will more than likely find a team of people who have time to go through everything with you and not rush through it. First time I did it some douche Lucio yelled at me for two or three hours because I needed to grasp the concept and not rush through. Point being people can be d bags but there are people who help others all the time.

      • They're not trying to be ass holes, but yes it is pretty messed up because here you are wanting to do the Raid but they won't let you. They don't want inexperienced players in their Fireteam because they don't have the patience to teach you. The Raid takes a bit of time as it is...So having to teach someone else how to do it merely holds every one else back who wants to get it done. It's definitely an unpopular thing to do, to limit who's with you because their skill, but I 100% agree with it. I'm sorry but I and a lot of others don't have the time and/or patience to teach newcomers to the Raid. We just wanna get in and get out. However there are days when I and so many others don't mind teaching people. I do it all the time. But there are still times I don't allow inexperienced players in my Raid...Why? Because at that particular moment I want to get it done and not f**** around. This is how it is and how it will be. Having someone experienced for your Raid Group is the most logical thing so naturally people will not want a newcomer. Surely you understand where they're coming from, even if they're dicks.

I thought no big deal cuz usually everyone is happy to teach and help but damn what a difference. It discourages me from playing. It wasn't even this bad with Crota.

            • i have said this before and i will say it again. Bungie took out Ghorn and replaced it with your entire character for " Must have to do whatever ". Bungie is just making it worse. I raided all the time for years and years in WoW. In destiny i run strikes now. Raid gear requirements are a shit Wall that blocks players from Raiding. The Bosses and check points that give loot in Destiny Need to drop Raid Tokens. You then take that Token to a Raid vendor and trade it for THE GEAR YOU WANT and not what the shit broken bungie RNG system craps on you with

            • Fake it till you make it. That's what I had to do. Just say you know what you're doing to get into a group, especially with the mechanics of this new raid. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing the first time I dropped into oryx and after the first wipe I had it mostly figured out. Or you could go with the always useful "I know everyone plays different, so what is your preferred strategy" line. Works every time.

Sick of failing groups when the kill feed after one round of oryx shows me with 3 oger kills with 22 normal kills, next person has 5 kills....sad.

                • I posted this in another thread: ****im going to preface this with I have used LFG every day for 13 months now. Now while I have zero actual stats to back up my stance, I feel a years worth of daily LFG using, gives me an educated position.**** I have come across the same 1000 posts of "must me 300+ must have emblem". And I can honestly tell you out of those 1000 posts, 150 of them are written by actual elitists. I think we can all agree, technically, this is one of the toughest raids yet. Unlike like the last couple raids, no one can really get carried, especially in the latter part of the raid. Oryx is the epitome of everyone must carry their own weight. So with that said, the classic LFG proverb goes, "those who can't do, invite in others to do it for them". So what you, me, and the next gentleman trying to enjoy destiny are truly victim to, is 850 posts of lvl 290-295s who just simply cannot do. They either don't understand the mechanic, struggle with the pace, or have been carried VoG, after Crota, after VOG. So dipping back to the ancient proverb, they are just following suit of the only thing they know, BRING IN THOSE WHO CAN DO IT FOR HIM. these posts are usually easy to sniff out by their desperate writing style. For example: "At oryx MUST BE 300+. Must have sniper, and must know strat. PLEASE SHOW EMBLEM FOR PROOF, want this done immediately. What that post tells you is: 1. He are really caught up on YOUR light level. Obsessed enough to be capped out. 2. His group obviously doesn't currently have the DPS power. He took the time to specifically ask for YOUR sniper rifle. 3. Why does your emblem matter? To you it means nothing, to him it means the world. To him it proves that you are a worthy one, the best of the best. You have come to rescue him. You just give him the strat, he just sits back for the carry. I cannot stress this enough. COMPLETELY STAY AWAY FROM THOSE POSTS. i can promise you, the time you saved on the LFG site, will be made up with countless wipes, and him blaming anyone, and anything he can. Outside of his playing ability of course. Now, to finally address the elitists. Listen, they are there. And there is nothing you or me can do about them. Most of them are respectful, and mingle within their own circle. They are just better than us, and that is OK. Here is an example of what kind of post you can get from a true elitist: "At oryx, please be competent with strat. Be able to DPS. Have a decent min/max. Send me message. Please have mic. What this post says: 1. Please be competent with strat, because we are. Elitists aren't going to lean on you, but want you to be apart of their well oiled machine 2. Just do DPS. In about one rotation they can tell if you can DPS or can't. And they really don't care how you get it done. 3. Have a decent min/max. Being capped out with intellect, or discipline, can come in extremely handy. Elitists know this (that why they are elite). If you ever feel your skills could match a posts like this, answer the call!!! Just don't be surprised when you get the quick boot. Now that we have the pretenders and the best addressed, let's get down to time, what you should be looking for, and where you should be looking for it. I know the search for a fireteam can be rather lengthy at times. However, if you're taking time out of your day to commit to a raid, taking an extra 5-10 minutes to find the right group should be of little consequence. There are a few genuine posts on LFG sprinkled in between all the bullshit. These posts will all have the buzz words: chill, blind run, first time, helping my buddy out, some experience, willing to help, etc... THESE ARE GOLD. Find one? Take it and run!!! I promise you, your raid experience will be everything you thought it could be. There are a couple great LFG sites that specialize in getting people into raids. 1. Destiny sherpa - elitists who are kind and dedicated in getting less experienced guardians thru the raid. 2. The100.io - they put your into a raid group after you answer 10-15 different qualifying questions. I really hope this helps, or at least gives you comfort in knowing you're not alone, and that most of the "elitist" posts are just shallow cries for help. Enjoy the rest of your day guardian!!!!!

I told him I don't mind teaching as long as he catches on quick. He said he was a quick learner. First jumping puzzle we waited 20 minutes after everyone already got across. I shot at each platform so he would know... We got to totems and I explained. We kept wiping because of him. Two hours passed. I gave up. I left the team and formed a new one. We passed in first try. I wasted 2 hours 20 minutes helping noob who was not even appreciative of my time. Whenever we wiped he was silent. I kept asking what happened. I switched up the teams. I handled him directly. He kept causing us to wipe. EVERY SINGLE time, noobs cause me countless hours of precious time wasted. -blam!- you noobs. -blam!- you. Don't waste my -blam!-ing time. Go drown. Go die. Or learn / succeed / whatever you do, do it on your own time.

                    • I think you might have bitten into a sore topic for some of us and I do not think your initial post was out of frustration of people asking for a high "requirement" or out of a desire to be carried. Though I will say this for anyone else who reads this. I often have "295+ light" and something along the lines of "know the mechanics" on my LFG posts. It isn't because of some elitist mindset but out of frustration I am encountering myself. With out some raid gear I think the highest light you might be able to obtain is 290-295, so if your light is above 295 it means you might have at least some raid loot and know Kings Fall. I've been inside of Kings Fall several times now and I've downed several of the bosses several times but Oryx himself still eludes me. Why? Simple mistakes that can be avoided and they are often done by inexperienced players. So now I am looking for other players in my LFG posts who have done the fights before or know what is going on so I might be able to finish the Raid, snag me a Malice (already have 45 fragments just need the completion), and run back to my team who has not moved past Galgoroth yet and hopefully help push them through. Raids are content that takes more skill and teamwork than just jumping into a random fire team and downing a boss, these aren't strikes. Raids require strategy, communication, teamwork, and the right people that you click with. Sure you could down a raid boss with the first three alone but if you can find a group of players you click with and you're able to watch each others back while completing a task or stepping in time with each other without calling things out, even better. I have two other Guardians I've spent hours in heroics strikes and Nightfalls with that made up the core of my raid team. When we're in a fight I do not need to be worrying about the Minotaur stomping up behind me because my buddy is gunning him down while I'm snipping the hobgoblin that is zeroing in on him. Now I'm sure there are some out there who are elitist in the way they act and play as "StinkingRocket" feels, that is their prerogative, just avoid them. I've left raid teams because of the way the members acted and sometimes not more than five minutes after listening to them talking down from their pillars. The thing to remember though when looking at the LFG sites or the android app, that behind some of those "KF Oryx CP, 295+ light" posts is someone who has spent night after night in Kings Fall and still hasn't killed him and is looking to put together a team that can net them that completion. Though at the same time everyone has the power to make a similar post, "New to KF, willing to learn" and there is not a doubt in my mind after seeing a majority of this community that you wouldn't find someone like me who would be willing to take you and a group of players through to teach them the ropes. Don't let the post titles discourage you, find yourself some gear, snag a few people from an LFG site, and venture into the Dreadnought. There are a few Taken waiting for your boot print to show up on their ass.

                    • I ask for experienced players for only 1 reason, time! I don't have all the time in the world because I have a life outside of destiny so I need people who know what they are doing. At the same time I am also willing to help when I have the time. Today for instance I will be posting to Sherpa people through the raid cause I've already completed it on all 3. I really don't think it's an elitist thing to want experienced people I think it's more of a time thing then anything else. Now there are elitist douchebags out there. They are the ones who drop out of a raid team the first time you wipe on oryx. It's funny too cause usually when those people drop out we will beat it the next round which makes you wonder if it's the elitist people who cause the wipe in the first place. Also to everyone out there who quits if we wipe 1 time I just have 1 question. Are you not human and have you never messed up in your life? It's a rhetorical question by the way.
