Since this has been the standard rebuttal to people wanting some slight changes to the overturned Hammer of Sol, there were a few things I wanted to say:
1) The sentence in my title might sound witty, but is sadly off topic.
Neither does it follow any logic, nor is it an argument.
It's the thing you say when you have nothing else to say.
2) Especially hunters having had the strongest PvP classes overall, should know when something is over tuned.
When the Hunter mains start to complain that something is too strong, you know that we have a balancing problem.
It's like playing Counter Strike and AK 47 users complaining, that the new ZyX gun is too strong. They used one of the strongest guns in the game for years. They know what they talk about.
Edit:
Since a lot of people have trouble to understand this point as it was intended, I will add a little note.
Of note:
I am talking about what was the baseline for an OP super. I am not talking about what *should* be OP.
The baseline in Y1, even after several nerfs, of what is considered OP, were Hunter supers.
The new baseline for OP is the Hammer of Sol.
3) All supers have some forms of checks and balances.
Arcblade is mobile and does solid damage, yet it has no range. Golden Gun has the range, mediocre mobility, but 0 defense.
The Hammer of Sol however, has everything. It has very high damage output, very high defenses and adequate mobility.
Nothing balances it in the way other mobile supers are balanced.
4) A Titan main, telling a Hunter main, that his opinion is invalid concerning this subject, is pretty much the definition of irony.
Going down that route simply makes you look like a clown.
5) Luke Smith himself says that the damage resistance might be a bit too much and the he is over performing with the Sunbreaker, for a PvP player on his skill level.
(Kotaku Podcast, min 45-47)
6) Most people saying "git gud and learn to counter it" with their 1.01 KD (or worse) and other very mediocre stats, should stop thinking that they understand the game mechanics. These people are not on any level to give that kind of advice.
7) Cue the insults, call me whiny and tell me how I am a hunter main (even though I mained a Voidwalker for the PvP for quite some time before TTK hit the shelves).
Nothing of these things invalidate anything I said here.
Edit
Thanks to some great input, I want to add:
8) People going around and telling other users that they should simply stop whining, don't understand an integral part of this discussion:
This is not about personal grief, getting killed by a HoS user or anything else along the lines.
This is about the game's balance. And wanting a certain baseline that resembles what we call balance, has nothing to do with whining.
Edit 2:
Over 2000 posts, more than 100 upvotes and a lot of people staying rational and understanding what I wanted to say.
Thank you for the participation guys.
I definitely have more hope for the majority of this community, than I had before.
Keep the comments coming!

1 OdpowiedźI want a golden gun with unlimited shots for 45 seconds... Oh, and make those shots have tracking and splash damage with a hip fire accuracy bonus. Throw in a 100% armor buff too so I can ensure I don't die while using my super. Wait, I pretty much just described the Titan super didn't i? Pre edit::: idiot - "the Titan super doesn't have hip fire, you just throw it" Me - no shit Sherlock. Hence the "pretty much" insinuation lol.

It's extremely relevant when someone wants to voice their opinion as fact without having any firsthand knowledge. Without evidence your opinion is just that. Most these "they main a hunter" comments are relevant because that's the only class they have an are trying to state their opinion as fact about something they don't understand.

I come from a clan that is probably 60% - 70% Titan Mains, and this has been a regular discussion in our party chats nightly. I main a Hunter, and I understand that I've had a good run of things lately, so I keep my opinion to myself mostly when this comes up. But I'd say more than half of that group of Titans do believe that it's OP. One of them suggested nerfing the damage output of the hammer but retaining the tankiness of it, balancing out the ability. Of course, most of them aren't actively pursuing this nerf, as their K/D's have been pretty good lately :P but yeah. It's a little OP.

47 OdpowiedziI main a hunter. I always have and always will. But my other classes have always been maxed in the order of hunter, Titan and warlock last. I started to lvl my Titan. Haven't even completed the skill tree but I believe it is a little op. The armor is fine it's a tank class. What I think would be balanced for this class is 2 hammers for a kill. 1 hammer should do your shields and half of your health. The next should be able to kill on splash damage. The way it is now there's not even time to respond if you hit a corner and see a sunbreaker. Armor is fine. It's a tank. Let it tank. But leave the one shots to golden gun if you want us to respect the insane amount of armor you get along with health regen and over shields if you're in a sunspot. Any Titan that wants to argue with this can shove off. I've got a Titan main as a best friend who agrees with me.
k/d is not accurate by any means of understanding mechanics. playtime, specific pvp stats matter more i have good games and i have bad ones yet i am still in the top 5% of OTHER aspects of the game that contribute to the team winning or finishing a match k/d by gametype is a little more accurate than overall k/d in this regard

4 OdpowiedziThank you for calmly and succinctly stating this, I just can't do it anymore. I haven't played my Titan in PvP because I simply don't play my Titan all that often; however, that is NOT to say that I haven't played PvP. I have a decent amount of experience there. Day one blade dancer? OP, especially considering the state of weapons back then. SB right now is OP, health regen + armor buff + tracking/AoE? I don't have to use my Titan in PvP to figure that out.

For all the moving parts destiny has the game has been balanced between the classes for the most part. Have Titans been shafted in pvp? As a Titan main, my answer is, maybe. When I look at the top crucible players and see so few Titans it makes me scratch my head. But I personally have never felt that Titans were given a ball and chain. I guess I took the perspective of the counter class. My FOH was almost exclusively used to counter other supers. Usually only got one kill, but I prevented 3 or 4 deaths in the process. With the hammer I finally feel like I'm on the offensive with my super. It makes sense to me that we have more defense than other classes, but how much is too much? I guess I can't help but think of the ram helmet. How is it that warlocks could survive sniper headshot so where the Titan couldn't? I think that is why the sun breaker got a defense buff because if we had been as weak as Hunter golden guns that wouldn't be right. Bungie will fix it the right way. Until this I suggest figure it out how to counter us. A few starting points. 1. Don't respawn right away if you die right away from the hammer. The super lasts a while. 2. Run, unless you have a counter super or heavy. - primary and special will not cause enough damage unless your are team shooting. 3. Force us into choke points, make us chase you. We Titans are not much for the wait and be patient mindset.
-
On point 3, the only way Titans can do so much more than Arcblade is if the class is set up right. Normally only about 3 hammers can be thrown in PVP unless he sacrifices essential perks that increase damage resistance in lieu of throwing more hammers. And as of right now there is no armor that extends the duration or lessens the super energy use when it's used. Also if you chose health regeneration after a kill may seem like it's impossible to kill a Sunbreaker but you have to take into consideration the lag delay when playing PVP. He might have killed you on his side but it has yet to show on your side. So his health may have already filled back up making it look like you didn't damage him at all(same case with Red Death and Suros Regime).

This game will never be balanced
-
I strongly agree with the part of your argument regarding checks and balances. Reminds me of how a GG shot can't kill a HoS. Using stormtrance also gets a little annoying because it takes time to kill in PvP a little, but if they have HoS it takes a long time and usually you'll just get shut down and not even coin a trade.
-
The only thing I've ever bitched about in Crucible is the Last word. Blade dancer can be a bit annoying as well but this Hammer of Sol is way to strong. If you think otherwise you're a joke. It's like heavy armor with mini nova bombs.
-
Edytowany przez użytkownika Shadow_Titan17: 9/29/2015 6:16:04 PMTheir opinions are invalid especially when they don't have a Titan, very little Titan experience, or don't even have the subclass unlocked. I've seen some of the Hunters that don't even have the Titan grimoire.

4 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika the ben obiwan: 9/29/2015 5:46:26 PMThe reason the community views hunters opinions so insignificant, is the 12 months of hunters arguing that their classes are just fine, no problem, everyone should just get gud. This isn't everyone, but it's hard to ignore that hunters enjoyed their OP classes for the entire first year of destiny, and now that the classes are basically balanced, they are now burning down the forums with 'every other class is OP' posts. Sure, sunbreakers Titans supers are awesome, but I 'main' every class, and I still don't think it beats the 4 shot golden gun, and that class comes with some pretty sweet perks to use while you're not in your super. Sunbreakers are just awesome supers with barebones perks because every node increases the killing potential of the super. If it gets a nerf, I don't mind, because I have 9 subclasses to choose from, but I do think it sucks that Titans finally have a viable option in crucible, and everyone wants to nerf it to hell.
-
2 OdpowiedziGunslinger and Bladedancer were never OP.
-
6 OdpowiedziThe thing with luke smith, and look what he says " might be a BIT too high!". He says " a bit", not " nerf the subclass into the ground and remove the super" like most hunters are doing. And the ones who say this suck at even just playing this game! So it sounds like they're just gonna readjust the stats, rather than listening to people who are horrible at this and nerf it into the ground.
-
25 OdpowiedziYou're giving hunters the benefit of the doubt, which is to say they wouldn't want to fairly balance the classes, they want their top spot in PvP back.
-
1 OdpowiedźI personally main a Warlock. I don't see the Hammer to be as OP as hunters thought themselves to be. If we're going with high defense, Sunsinger. Crap ton of damage? Voidwalker. Complete obliteration? Stormcaller. All classes are OP. Easily countering one another.
-
3 OdpowiedziThe hunters actually have a super that could one shot sunbreakers easily. That would be gunslinger with celestial nighthawk. 6x damage in one shot.
-
Sun breaker is only good for its super as all other perks suck. I'm not saying whether it's OP or not because I main Titan for PvE and care very little for PVP. The class is good situational instead of just having to run bubble I can do some range damage with my super. If Bungie can adjust the class to make it relevant for PvE still than I welcome the change. But if the class breaks and becomes useless because of PVP'rs like how they break everything else in the game. :/ I'll just stick with defender once again.
-
Edytowany przez użytkownika KeesDeWerper: 9/29/2015 4:33:29 PMThat defence bonus, return health on a kill, ranged super, super over time equals OP. Agree with this post. They should have 0 defence bonus like golden gun and get health back with their perk IMO. Even then its possibly the strongest super in the game, which is fine with me since hunters have more mobility perks.
-
Edytowany przez użytkownika The 7th fall: 9/29/2015 4:33:45 PMYeah I'd like to see HoS super get adjusted. Whenever I hear that *CLANG* of a hammer on an anvil, I just run in the opposite direction as that's really all I can do to get clear of it. Primary weapon fire doesn't do much, a clean sniper shot to the head will not kill a Sunbreaker with full health during super, takes a while with MG or 2-3 shots with an RPG to down a Sunbreaker, and overall are unbalanced in PvP.
-
3 OdpowiedziI just don't understand how people get extremely emotional over a small balancing tweak. This goes for both sides of the coin. Tweak the hyperarmour for Sunbreaker to match Stormcaller/Bladedancer. Its not as if the people who are giving logical suggestions are demanding for SB to be nerfed to the ground.
