Ok so theres a ton of us who bought the basic game at around $65 dollars then The Dark Below for another $20 then House of Wolves for another $20 and now The Taken King for an additional $40. Ok so thats about $145. Thats bare minimum too since alot of people bought higher priced packages in the beginning or for The Taken King. so $145 is on the cheaper side of some peoples spending so far.
Ok so now that the math is done, is it worth it? Me personally i like The Taken Kings quests, its a great addition since there is now more to do and fun challenges that go with them including specific weapon challenges. Faction, Mentor, and gunsmith quests and challenges are also a great addition.
But....having to either not use or destroy (for basically nothing) all year one stuff which includes the dark below and house of wolves stuff ( dlc's we actually paid extra to play and obtain) and start all over again is really making me question if all that money was worth it.
Theres tons of ideas on what can be done about it like, make selectable campaigns like picking house of wolves then you can only do that dlc stuff and so on. little challenging and probably not happening. Another would be not charging year one players for more content. im sure theres a thousand more. In any case my point is how much is the game actually worth to you?
is this game worth $145 to play? if another $40 dlc comes out would you get it? is the game worth $185 if so how much are you willing to spend to forever play this game??
The idea came to me when i first went to the tower and got a few of the new guns and looked at my vault and realized everything i have like my hawkmoons, ghallys, icebreakers, ruin wings, etheric lights, etc. were pointless. which then it clicked i just put more money into a game which made everything i worked for over the year pointless.
i get we should move on to new guns and gear but destroying the old stuff should be worth something more then ascendant shards ( which are pointless( and weapon parts) maybe a few exotic shards but thats it.
My basic point is now that im $145 dollars in and forced to start fresh as far as guns and gear go im a little confused and now questioning how much is this game actually worth? is it worth just throwing money at each time bungie asks?
What do you think is it worth it? and if so how much are you willing to spend?

1 OdpowiedźBeen playing since day one, no idea how many hours but I have been playing Destiny almost exclusively since then. I am somewhere between casual and elite and a total solo player 99% of the time but still manages to get the Laurea Primea somehow In total since Destiny came out I have spent around 105$ on the game itself (ps4 editon gave base game for cheap, expansions pass is cheaper) and I realize how lucky I am to have spent so little for a game I love so much. That being said, if I had spent 145$ on Destiny I would habe still thought it was worth it because, despite its many, many, MANY flaws... Destiny is the game I have been waiting for. It represents the culmination of an MMOs customizability mixed with fast paced, fluid FPS gameplay all centered around an interesting (if much underdevelopped) story. I know it is far from perfect, I know lots of things are broken and frustrating and I know there is still much work to be done. But damn it i'm going to be there for it all! Tl;dr Payed less than most for game, would pay more anyway because I love game even if bugged and needs lots of work.

TTK as a DLC is not worth £40 ... It should have been sold as a sequal and has more storey, however the 2.0 and quests added make Destiny 2.0 with TTK for £75 a bloody great buy for new players ... Guess we as pioneers info this game paid dearly ... But some of the memories you can't put a price on

I bought ttk multiple times and the other dlcs

Consider it has been out for a year.

They need to bring back: Eris and petra Bounties Year one Raids and PoE Pack of wolves and sword barer in patrol All legendary Guns from vanilla, dark below and house of wolves. Cutting all that content out after spending much money should not be acceptable for anyone Destiny players, ever.

I think I spent about 185 quid on this game, I enjoy it so I do not see the harm in it.

3 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika LONE RONIN2012: 9/28/2015 5:44:15 PMI have paid less money, for better games. The cost to continue to play Destiny, over the long term, was not worth the lack of content, and already some TTK buyers are bored, the lies, the constant nerfs, the zoo of disconnections, and Bungie telling me how to play. Battlefield 4 + Premium = $110 GTA = $100 Elder Scrolls Online (To date) = $85 All more amusing and enjoyable than Destiny, at a fraction of the cost Destiny will carry in the long term. But most players are not looking long term.

Destiny grew stale for me a few weeks after House of Wolves dropped but Taken King has me addicted again. They knocked it out of the park with this expansion.

Counting my ps4 acount and the new x1 game I play on not counting gifts I spent 150 dollars and in exchange I've gotten around 200 hrs total play time ( was on workman's comp after getting a severe infection... for like 4 months) Made some friends woke my family up with roaring laughter and I have hissed curses at the god tier crucible players.. Destiny is love, destiny is life.

4 OdpowiedziTotally worth it for me, i'm into destiny about $180 bucks with the limited edition of the original game and the collector's edition of TTK. Having weapons become obsolete isn't a big deal to me. I paid money for the experiences and fun times i've had playing the game (which are a lot). Not for clusters of pixels that go pew pew when a pull a plastic trigger. But maybe the fact that i collect guns irl has made me used to the fact that i only have so much space in my safe (vault) and i'm always going to find new and better guns, causing me to get rid of some of the old ones.

You have to look at it as a subscription , although your paying it in big chunks instead of monthly. If destiny was monthly , no one would pay for it because there just is not the size/scope/content to warrant a monthly outlay. Clever on activision's part, to get you to part with your cash so you can access the servers, Every time your subscriptions due for renewal they release a new dlc ( that you have to pay for to access the world ). For me, have I had my money's worth. Yes, do I expect to be paying for more dlc's in the future, yes. Sorry to say ppl, most games will go this way as they can make more money selling you the same format in bits ( off the raid participant figures they made a minimum 31 million!! For ttk ) why make a whole new game when you can repeatedly sell the same one with new bells & whistles.

3 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Wrath_and_Fury: 9/28/2015 5:49:40 PMPersonally, I'm having a ton of fun. Every minute I spend in destiny is worth my money. I hear so many people keep talking about how they have to continue to keep paying in order to play the game. Destiny is an online only video game. Rather than having to pay a subscription fee, you have to plunk down 40 bucks every six months. It's all about associated value. I find it to be entirely worth spending the money to continue to have myself entertained. Hell, I did it for four years playing World of Warcraft. Just running around killing shit was enough for me. Did I raid? Of course, every now and then. It never was a steady thing. I was perfectly entertained just running around killing monsters and engaging in open world pvp. I didn't give a rats ass about the story even though what was there was very well written (and buried in tons of bs fetch quests). I was in it for the experience, and that was enough to be worth my money every month.

Worth is based on personal experience with something. Is it worth it for me? Sure it's worth it. I enjoy pvp and some pve on the side. I have met great friends in this game. Why they play with me is a mystery to me (SirRageALOT). I play nearly everyday after my day job. Weekends I usually hang with my friends. So yea. My opinion is; if you have fun with something then it's probably worth it. On a side note gaming is a cheap hobby. Especially for people like me who mostly play the same game for a long time. Plus I don't wanna know how much i spend on hearthstone aswell. Damn you activision.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Bandit Keith872: 9/28/2015 4:21:24 PMI bought a ps4 to play destiny. I bought an xboxone to play destiny with my friends. I bought my at the time girlfriend a copy of destiny when I first got the game because she was big into fps games. So I have bought destiny 3 times, the season pass twice and TTk once. Plus I wouldn't have gotten an Xbox aside from my IRL gaming friends being idiots. So add the Xbox on also. Whatever that total is...that is the amount of money I put into destiny. I have enjoyed alot of my time on this game but alot of that time enjoyed was the people I got to meet and interact with rather than the game itself. Ttk is a step in the right direction. But even so I don't like Bungie and Activision's business decisions..ruining the game for players who don't essentially subscribe to the game. Vanilla destiny is still on sale in stores btw. Ridiculous. I'm undecided.

3 OdpowiedziThe game now sucks. NO it is not worth it.

It's completely worth it if you've enjoyed the game. If you haven't it's not worth it.

1 OdpowiedźThe game value is no more than i pay for. My thoughts are, what now if i finish the raid? Am i going to do the same thing with my other character? Will i create a warlock and do the same thing over and over again? My point is, the game is all about grinding in either pve or pvp. Taken king was good but not enough. After completing few quest, got some exotics and did the raid(not completing oryx due to people looking for experience player). I am giving up and will take time off from destiny and slowly detaching from the game because cant grind the game no more. Cant play vog, crota and poe coz its either fun is gone or not much people playing the old dlc's, plus playing the old dlc's will give rewards that cant be use to ttk. I will still buy the next dlc or part 2 of destiny because i am a gamer. I buy and try and put it away once the fun is gone. Am i happy playing the game, yes. Was i satisfied, not quite.

The game should keep expanding and diversifying while keep old content meaningful or providing and outlet to make old content useful for current game aka introduce new content into old content and make old content be useful for current present time This makes past grinding rewarding still and gives a huge variety to new players as well as old 1. Etheric light Lets players choose wether or not they want to ascend or infuse old gear to new standards 2. Old missions and raids Introduce new level modifiers for current max lvls and for this lvls provide new rewards relevant to new content In this case VOG LVL40 with vog styled sword, sidearm, ghost(vex skin)with perhaps some new armor CROTA LVL 40 Crota styled sword, sidearm, ghost(black with the 3 green eyes) with perhaps some new armor Basically the same for HOW 3. Also don't take away the wolves and blades maybe make them happen a little less but keep them in game and present more of them For instance maybe to roaming cabal troops Or Radom hive drop ships Just some quick ideas that would definitely make me pick up new dlc Making all my year 1 content obsolete and irrelevant has made me decide I don't want to continue if everything I get will be made obsolete later Yes people should try out the new stuff but let that be the players choice and not have the choice forced upon them Guardian out pass on that revive to the next one ghost

I have about 7 $60 ps3 games on my shelf right now. I have twice as much playtime in Destiny as those games combined. Yeah, its worth it to me.
-
I only pay $60 for taken king and all the dlc becauze bundle and my destiny comes with my ps4
-
Price per playtime has been a bargain for me and I feel the game is totally worth it.

1 OdpowiedźI spent the 450$ on the glacier white ps4 when destiny came out. The 35$ for the year one expansions. 80$ for the TTK expansion. And 500 for the destiny limited editon ps4 system. I'm quite happy. And no I'm not rich or have parents. I pre order and work hard for the money I receive to afford the things I want.

This will happen every year so I would either come to terms with it or stop playing, think of it like seasons, it's not going to be the same each year and yes we will need to get gear and weapons when releases come out. That's something you have to decide if you like
