What should I buy first with marks?

Ive had a similar thought myself.. buy a gun, armour, or unlock one of my exotic guns to year 2 level...

I bought a chest first. It was the lowest armor item I had at the time. I figure it was more important to get my light level up.

Ghost shell. It will have the biggest impact on your light. For me, the shell was 100 points higher than the one I had equipped. It elevated me big time.

Personally I'm buying red death version 2 then I'll start working on my gear since xur doesn't sell weapons I'd rather get a weapon first then work on my armour
