No, it's Level 41 at 260 and I'm Level 40 at 239. My point is, why not just continue the regular leveling instead of holding on to the light level ambiguity that I thought they said was going away? I mean, to say the strike is 41 but I'm level 40 and can't seem to get through it with two other level 40's on my team just because none of us have the right gear is what I thought we were getting away from. One step forward two steps back.
So to be able to earn marks in a strike and not die once every minute you have to have first gotten through those strikes to the end to get the marks so you can buy the gear to bring you up to a light level where you won't die every minute or play the Crucible? I just feel like that's really lame and forces you into the Crucible only so you can earn marks to buy the gear to play the Strikes when you don't really want to be in the crucible at all you want to be in the Strikes. PVP does nothing for me. It could not be there and I'd be happy. I just feel like this was a misstep.
The worst part is that it's part of a quest. I HAVE to play that in order to continue the quest. I HAVE to do those Level 41 Strikes but because I don't have the gear and most of the teams I've tried it with cut out half way through over frustration, I'm forced to go play a part of the game I don't care for at all. Brilliant.

I haven't done a single heroic strike and I'm 251. Do the end game quests to raise your light. Player level determines what gear you can wear. It maxes at 40. Light level is an average of attack and defense values. It makes it so that you can easily tell if you're powerful enough for content. It's no different from any other MMO system. The gear you wear determines how powerful you are, not your player level.
