Edited out my original post because these two people said what I was trying to say a lot better.
Edit- I really like this reply by teacup_titan
Of course there's something wrong with them charging 20 USD for cosmetic items, but you shouldn't call the people who buy them "tools".
Explain that overpriced content has an affect on the industry of gaming overall. If sales are great enough then more companies will think its fine to overcharge for these types of items.
To all whom are replying angrily, no one is telling you how to spend your money, just be wary that your actions are not in an isolated bubble. They affect more than just you, believe it or not.
Edit- Another great post by Critical Gamerr
The whole point of this thread that OP has poorly tried to express, is that these type of micro transactions Bungie are starting to implement here and there are just the beginning.
If you enjoy micro transactions, then sure, be my guest and buy them all.
If you don't enjoy micro transaction, then sure, also be my guest and buy them all.
Just don't turn around later and complain that the price of the next dance emotes has doubled, or that the Gjallarhorn 2 is only available to those who
throw money at the screen
Even though you may enjoy the dance moves and find entertainment through it, if you are like me or OP who would prefer that these type of business practices stay out of destiny altogether, then please, think twice about buying them.
OP take note, calling people tools will cause them to not read your content, only hate on you. Learn from your mistake.

and telling people that they are wasting money and calling them tools when it has no effect on you at all is not being a tool?

4 OdpowiedziFrom what I can see TTK in the UK means either buying another boxed version of the game for £42 or getting a digital copy for £55? Am I the only one who thinks that's a bit crazy for an expansion? Most expensive expansion I have ever seen in my 10 years of gaming. I really don't understand why I have to buy 2 copies of the base game, TDB and how to get 1 copy of TTK?

I'm not going to argue the value of virtual content because a lot of people have different views, but I'm going to instead talk about bungie and wether they are worth investing in. They are a video game company that listens to its community and adjusts its game to what that community wants. They provide great tools to assist with the game. They give a venue to communicate within the community. I personally want them to make more games so I will be paying $20, and hopefully they will use that money to invest in things like dedicated servers for their future games to assist in making a true MMO RPG.

Idiots are paying $100 for that blacksmith shader lol. $20 ain't crap

Capitalism.

If I literally stop getting my daily soda at the gas station for two weeks I can buy the pack with no loss to my wallet. It's really not that much; I'm just a college student and I can say that

You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.

1 OdpowiedźIf you whine about a game on it's own forums you're a tool.

2 OdpowiedziValue is based on each individual. Why buy an iPhone at 600 dollars plus when you can get a real good cheap smart phone. Why spend 60,000 dollars on an high end suv, when you can get a perfectly fine one for much less. ......and so on. Value is what YOU view it to be. If you want, desire, must have that new toy regardless of costs, then the costs are irrelevant.

So which one am I? A handsaw? A screwdriver? A hammer? Oh, what about a crowbar?

I would argue that charging extra for cosmetics is fine. It's when they start charging for power that it becomes shady. If you don't feel they are worth it. That's fine. You are not wrong. They just have a different subjective value to you. Personally I would love to see more cosmetic pacts featuring more dances or even new ghost voices. That I would pay for.

Get off the forums bro. Stop wasting your breath

3 OdpowiedziI bought the Collector's Edition so I could have a physical strange coin and give the extra copies to a friend. So suck it. Lol

Here's how I see cosmetic dlc; it has no effect on other people's game and it creates extra revenue for the developer. Nobody is a "tool" for buying it, everybody can decide it's worth for themselves. It's a great way for some developers to fund further content. The problem for me comes when it's implemented into a game that has already made huge profits from selling the base game and then charging large sums for their content-light dlc. When you factor that into the equation, these cosmetic dlc items seem much less palatable and more like a greedy ripoff.
-
Then don't. People who have the means to buy it will always buy these types of things. I only think someone is a tool when they can barely afford these sort of things and it's in their best interest to use the money else where.

20 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Sir C Bass: 9/13/2015 1:19:16 AMIf you buy a Ferrari you're a tool. You're only catering to Ferrari USA's greed about -blam!- you with over priced cars that you really don't need because a ford focus does the same thing. If you buy bottled water you're a tool. You're only catering to Aquafina's greed with their over priced fluids. You can drink water for free from your toilet, a lake, the gutter even! Edit - spelling error. I guess no one gets very obvious sarcasm.

I'll buy everything this game has to offer.

5 OdpowiedziWhy are we tools because we buy in-game items? If we apply that logic to everything You're a tool because you paid for a game that is only plastic and thin sheets of metal just to get enjoyment in the virtual world. You pay for internet to get access to the virtual world to argue to people in the virtual world about virtual items People who buy XBL Gold are tools because they pay for access to virtual content in the virtual world People who pay for PlayStation plus are tools because they pay access to virtual content in the virtual world People who pay for digital games in the virtual world are tools People who buy Dlc are tools because they are buying virtual content to access a virtual world
