First of all, Destiny IS a MMO. Period. The sooner everyone gets this in their head, including Bungie, the best. Sure it doesn't have ALL the features others MMO have but it has enough to be one. Its a persistent online world where thousands of players play at the same time. So its. Massive Multiplayer Online game. There is PVE, PVP, solo and group activities, people gear up and there is an End Game.
In every MMO gear and content is rendered obsolete all the time when new content is released. Deal with it. Players who arent pleased with the game, leave and dont purchase new content. Those who like it will buy and keep playing. Thats the way of online gaming.
So the people complaining about losing access to heroics and nightfall need to stop. The EULA you agreed upon before playing clearly states that they own the game and can change it and restrict access whenever they want. It doesnt mean it always be fair but its what you agreed upon.
Now lets see this in a practical, honest way:
All those who arent buying TTK are people who are not satisfied with the game, and those ppl are just going to move on. Who says " not buying ttk bc destiny sucks" and keep playing? Every player who likes destiny will buy ttk. If there is any destiny player who likes the game but couldnt get 40 bucks together since it was announced, or his budget wont let him ever spend 40 bucks in his favorite game, well he has more pressing matters at hand than playing a game, to get himself out of that situation.
Bottomline: if you dont want ttk, why the hell would you want to keep playing the game, honestly? I admit I got sick of destiny in HOW, i just burned out so i stopped playing and moved on. When TTk was announced I wasnt thrilled nor impressed. When more details began to leak, I began to follow it more closely read several press releases, interviews, in depth coverages and previews and decided that i liked the changes being made so i preordered about a week ago. If it was the other way, i didnt like the changes or they just kept the game the same, I wouldnt have preordered, and destiny would still be there unplayed and most likely uninstalled, so i could not care less about nightfalls or whatsoever.
So stop the whining, if you arent getting ttk just move on, there are plenty of other good games out there, dont try to fool anyone into thinking you really want to keep playing vanilla destiny.

5 OdpowiedziIt's only an mmo when it helps defend bungies decisions. Whenever it is compared to other mmos in terms of a story or content the same people who say it is one will reverse their position.

Edytowany przez użytkownika TruthHurts: 9/12/2015 11:35:01 PM"Destiny IS a MMO." Usually fanboys use unpopular opinions to defend their game, not plain bs that even Bungie themselves have stated its a first person shooter. All the comments either insult you or tell you they stopped reading after the first line because of how asinine it was. What's next Bungie will run for president? Seriously the few of you need to stop drinking the koolaid.

Edytowany przez użytkownika LEGEND_OF_1999: 9/13/2015 8:05:24 AMStopped reading when you said Destiny was an MMO. Never go full retard. Edit: I've also heard that SWTOR allows you to keep your gear relevant, so your second paragraph is invalid.

Calling destiny an MMO is like calling a Toyota Camry a high performance racing vehicle
-
So because that's how current mmos work destiny has to....I feel depressed for the progression of game mechanics the next few years if more have that mentality. If Bungie finds that system works that fine but to just resign to all mmos work this way is just dumb. Games should evolve not just be reskins on each other
-
So comparisons with MMOs are pretty misguided considering the gear cycle But consider this. When SWTOR released its first expansion (after about 16 months mind) they increased the level cap, and had new heroic flashpoints (similar to strikes). BUT if you didn't buy the expansion you could do the old heroic flashpoints still and their gear was even updated. So seriously, MMO comparisons are bad.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Arrg_The_Pirate: 9/13/2015 6:40:58 PMI agree with a lot of what you said Leo but destiny is not an MMO. Bungie has said that a number of times. Sure there are some aspects like an MMO but when the designer says it's not why would you disagree. No player driven economy and Players have little to no effect on one another are two major differences. But the main reason I am posting is if the first line of your post is faults, people are not going to read or believe the rest your post.

Edytowany przez użytkownika IXISPACEIXl: 9/14/2015 12:45:47 PMHe is right. We as Desticles reserve the right to have bungievision keep sodomizing us as we see fit. We are mindless drones that accepts them going back on their word. So we will keep throwing money at the screen and hope they wipe the poop off before ramming it back in.

Edytowany przez użytkownika All Skulls On: 9/12/2015 9:19:31 PMLocking players out from new content is one thing, taking away existing content in order to push new content is another. I don't think many would be bothered by Destiny moving on with TTK leaving whoever didn't wish to advance stuck in the HOW era. In fact, it would be in Bungie's best interest to keep players around in such a manner for sake of server traffic. Eventually those players would either get bored and quit or break down and upgrade. If this 2.0 Destiny is in fact all that's going to be offered to those who do not subscribe to TTK (yes, it's a veiled subscription) then Bungie is going to have a rude awakening when Luke Smith's plan fails, people keep their money in their pockets and Destiny's server numbers fall through the floor, ultimately tanking the game. However that's speculation. On Tuesday we'll see what awaits for those who didn't buy TTK. I might be that they're smarter than they appear and bring the entire population with them into TTK in a less limited fashion and allow the game to sell itself. We just have to wait and see.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Talhwar: 9/13/2015 2:07:32 AMTell that to BBB and Activision both of whom seem to think refunds are in order... I haven't asked for one as ttk will be gifted to me by a friend, and I will attempt to rationalize this. Anyway just an Fyi MMOs don't nerf the old gear they make the new gear actually be better. For example if you wanted to run nax with your old setup you absolutely can, in destiny trying to run vog with your old vog gear would be straight up suicide or just a personal challenge to yourself. Just sayian.

7 OdpowiedziYou'd make a horrible salesman. "If you don't like it, leave and never come back." Ok Gollum, go and find your precious. Ever hear of consumer retention? Keeping your existing consumers happy that have paid well over $100 just for an extended beta? Just because someone doesn't want to pay more just to access end game content they previously had, shouldn't be simply shown the door. That's an asinine attitude to have.

Purple fail! Or... I suppose that it's shortly going to be "not even as effective as a new green" fail. It seems that this game is most conveniently an MMO when the notion defends Bungie's decision making process. You see, the hardcore gamers make up a very small minority. Pull up the trophies for this game (if you have an Xbox, I'm not sure if it shows a percentage) and have a look. Do you see what I see? The completion percentage for things that a person like me takes for granted is abysmal. Completing a raid still hasn't been done by two thirds of their registered users on PSN, a number that they've continuously bragged about. Why? A lot of people left. A lot of people don't want to be bothered with external LFG sites. A lot of people saw this game for the grind fest that it is and were turned off by the lack of content and the notion of grinding what little content there was for the immediate future. This update is designed purely and specifically to appeal to the crowd that left and the newbies. In the process it shits all over everyone that kept playing after being told that it was clear that the time we've invested should be respected. They're trying to push their product which I do understand. It still leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. Perhaps most people that feel as I do are just spoiled console gamers. That's fine. We don't feel like we should grind our asses off only to have our gear become obsolete in 3 months. Grind so you can get on top so you can grind to stay on top so you can grind to stay on top... Is this really that rewarding to people? I know that the short answer is yes, but I wish all that "fun" would stay on the PC where it belongs.
Yes, I've played the game more than my fair share. I enjoyed it (probably more than I should have), and more than got my money's worth. However, with year 2 staring me in the face, the thought of starting a few steps ahead of square one is very unappealing. I'd like to keep playing, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to do so.
Edytowany przez użytkownika PapaHeavy2: 9/12/2015 10:31:53 PM"The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete," DeeJ writes. "Since the reveal, we've read a lot of ideas for how this could have been done better. Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should respected" So here I am to say Destiny is a FPS, sure it doesn't have ALL the features of a FPS, but enough for me to say it is. See how this works? I could say Destiny is an MMO, and FPS, even an RPG......yet it is ALL and NONE of these. It's something new, different and exciting. Now most, if not all, of these MMO's of which you speak have one thing Bungie is lacking.....COMMUNICATION.....that's right, those MMO's are pretty straight with the players. They lay out exactly how it is going to be and follow through. Bungie is terrible with communication. First they tell us they want our gear to tell a story, to follow us through the game.....then they tell us our gear will be obsolete.....then they say "we made a mistake" (see quote above) then they say "your year1 gear will not ascend into year2" Therein lies the issue, communication. Unlike am MMO, there is a distinct lack of it and this is a major cause of dissension in the forum ranks. Most guardians here enjoy Destiny and want to see it improve as a game. Bungie needs to do a much better job opening the lanes of communication with their players, tell it like it is, stop hiding facts among subterfuge. Like I've posted again and again "The single biggest problem with communication is the illusion that it has taken place" #DBAD

I agree with many of your ideas, but Destiny is not an MMO. It may have MMO-like qualities but it still isn't an MMO.
-
Not an MMO. Massive not so much really as the worlds are as big as any modern shooter/adventure types. Multi player yea as much as other shooters. I've never seen a massive amount of players engaging anything. 6 at the most, maybe 8-10 camping a HoW chest. It's really a nifty instance type world. Online well duh. If my aunt had .... She would be my uncle. Additionally you are making assumptions that all MMOs nerd everything pre expansion. That is not the case at all. Additionally they do not eliminate the relevance of older content either. They often increase the lvl cap making the old content less challenging and open to smaller parties to challenge. They offer new gear that is better but not light years and old gear often still has perks or stats that make it as good or better still in unique places or actions. This game has a very limited interface with gear and abilities where overall their use or perk buffs have very little effect upon the final success of the challenge. That being said I still don't mind the reset as I'm not that tied to my fate bringer as I just earned three this month and never got one leveled up anyway. I enjoy the action and play of the game as it's incredible. There will be new weapons for me to hoard and collect for sure. I hope that I can still play and have a slight challenge from old raids as I enjoy them and could easily get bored of one raid gaming.

1 OdpowiedźEdytowany przez użytkownika xxDAMRONxx: 9/12/2015 10:13:56 PMThat's not true. A lot of MMOs add PROGRESSION. So new players still have to go through the original game and then get to the "expansion". With every destiny dlc they allow previous content to be skipped. You should have to do vog to get 30. Then crota to 34 and so on.

Fully agree with you, don't listen to people giving you hate because honestly they're a little immature.. I spent my £40 on destiny because despite hating parts of the game I know that there are features I wouldn't get in other games.. Like huge patrol areas that are open and can meet other guardians despite it being rare, I don't think this is in any other FPS game but I could be wrong... Honestly I wish they scrapped all the guns or at least reduced their effectiveness, shotguns are still an absolute joke in the crucible.. For example the new map Frontier I think it's called on earth is a great sniping map, yet people run around with shotguns like they're primaries and it's so boring.. In retrospect we are paying the same amount of money (If not less) for this game than we would be for other MMO's.. World of Warcraft is subscription based and costs over £100 a year, yes destiny might not be to the same standard but this is a new genre lead by a greedy publishing company and their slave developers, hopefully when Bungievisions contract expires we can see a proper game develop :)
