I know people are expecting a big review, this isn't it. Honestly it may be a day or two because i haven't scratched the surface of 2.0 yet, but I did want to put up my early impressions and see how my experience has compared to others.
So I got home from work tonight and headed to the Tower first. My initial Tower impressions:
New vault looks nice.
Declaring allegiance was cool... Right up until it gave me a quest to wear all my faction gear lol.
Shader collection is cool.
Exotic weapon vault. Red Death and Juju... And no MIDA.
Exotic armor vault. No Armamentarium.
It seems so arbitrary what's ascending and what isn't. Why do some keep playing with their normal exotic setup and others have to start from scratch?
Other than that, the Tower is whatever. Gunsmith updates tomorrow I believe and everything else (outside of collections) is mostly the same for now.
So I debated trying missions and checking out the north ghost, but opted for PvP instead.
First match entered map I've seen once in elimination (Widow's Court), joined the match down by 10000. Thought that sheet wasn't supposed to happen now. Died like 4 times (all Pulse Rifles) and we got mercy ruled.
Second match was on the Dungeon. Map was decent saw a couple ARs which was nice, but Pulse Rifles are everywhere now.
Realized this match that they gimped all our intelligence, strength and discipline bonuses. Should have realized it I suppose, but it was still a shock how long grenades take to recharge now. Kept trying to throw them on the internal timer I have of when they're usually ready and they'd be half charged. Going to be an adjustment for sure.
Next match was on Crossroads- and this is the map I finally saw a Hand Cannon. Went up against Thorn and they might as well have been shooting me with a no impact AR circa 2 days ago.
I still don't like that people needed to nerf Thorn to stop it. All these Pulse Rifles you're destroying with have always destroyed people, takes Nerfing weapons to get people to try new things though.
The map itself was probably my favorite I played tonight, never really got a grasp on any of the new ones, but Crossroads was at least more open a layout than were used to seeing from Bungie.
Tried staying with the group after the match because I thought I heard there will be some reason we'll want to... And it disbanded everyone because it said it was too lopsided.
I thought that was kinda stupid because if I'm waiting 26 seconds instead of just backing out and re-queueing what's the point to get disbanded?
Next match I played was Bastion(!) I know right! Was interesting seeing it reappear.
What was even more interesting was getting Rockets 3 times and getting exactly one rocket kill with Gjally.
I've used Gjally in PvP for 6 months and this is not the same weapon.
Got Rockets three times the next match on The Drifter and got one rocket kill. In fact at one point I shot two enemies with Gjally, landed the rocket directly between them and didn't kill either one.
Originally wrote Fusion Rifles are dead because Plug One is so inconsistent now, but omg Plan C is returned to its full glory. Not sure how Thorn gets nerfed and Plan C gets buffed, but I'm going to enjoy using it until people get it nerfed.
So five matches and I saw one Hand Cannon (Thorn) and it sucked, got a total of 2 rocket kills with what used to be the best PvP RL in the game. Beyond that ttks seemed the same as before, just with different weapons.
That's my quick impression, tired as hell. Peace.
*Edited out TLW, didn't know it ascended when I originally made the post.

9 OdpowiedziBump to save Year 1 gear Bump to save Year 1 content
-
Both of them deserved nerfing, ghorn broke pve and thorn broke pvp, glad theyre useless tbh
-
I still use the gally as a vengeance weapon. If I'm trekking across the moon for something, and the fallen that just can't help shooting at you starts shooting at me, I'll give them a gjallerhorn enema, give them the finger, and move on. lol
-
1 OdpowiedźI don't miss gally or thorn at all.
-
Very happy that they're dead, especially the ghorn. What a mess that gun made in year one of destiny. Totally broke the balance of the game and was relied upon as a bailout in the hard pve content.

1 OdpowiedźMy first day in got shot by the new last word, of course the first map I entered was Anomally, so yeah plenty of close quarters shit so basically nothing change, shot guns still reign supreme, last word in close quarter maps still beastly, pulse rifles like Messenger and hopscotch K/D owns more so now that Thorn has been nerfed, add in Bad Juju and Red Death with no Thorn to hamper them and you get the Pulse rifle meta with Auto rifles sprinkled in mostly Zhalo, Suros, and Monte. I even got killed by Abyss Defiant and Necrochasm, that first day.

3 OdpowiedziIm pretty happy to be honest Didnt even want it nerfed But now i dont have to be bored in crucible with the same weapons shooting me
-
1 OdpowiedźLol all those people that will never experience thorn and ghorn :). Xur should not have sold it :)

1 OdpowiedźGhorn has been working fun for me in PvP and PvE. It's not what it use to be but then again but I usually hit my targets with it and not shoot the ground around them so I'll have to depend on the Wolfpack rounds to clear everyone out. Glad thorn was nerfed. I haven't even seen one in any of the mayhem matches I've been in.
-
thorn was OP and it took no skill to use it same with Gjallarhorn
-
4 OdpowiedziGhorn isn't dead?
-
Yes I'm happy. I paid for new content! Not to keep this crap around
-
3 OdpowiedziOK this was funny, but in all seriousness a ninja might come along swinging the ban hammer. Watch out.
-
10 OdpowiedziYou're brain dead. Have you even tried some of the weapons? Ghorn is still a wrecking machine. Oh that's right, you can't do gud without it. Skill is needed now, don't know if you knew that. Hehe haha hawhawhawwwww.

2 OdpowiedziNo one cares if TLW and thorn are nerfed they were nerfed, yes but i still use TLW just because its fun
-
I have to say that everything in PvP seems to be very balanced now. Anyone agree?
-
Ive heard the pocket infinity is great now once you get used to it Idk about the rocket thing tho Ive been getting plenty of kills And the pulse rifle thing is kinda true Seeing every class but hand cannons now TLW and Thorn pop up here and there which is nice But pulse rifles feel no different after this patch
Why do some keep playing with their normal exotic set up and others have to start from scratch?
This!

The thorn is still pretty good for me, still takes 3 head shots to kill, 4 if depending it there's a body shot or high armor, I've found that scout rifles are pretty nice.

8 OdpowiedziLol, Lost sols has lost his/her mind. Seriously, there was only two accurate statements in the post. -Thorn is dead. -you can't ascend MIDA. The major false statements in the post were. -Gjallerhorn is dead.(you just suck at the game if you think Gjally is dead) -you can't ascend TLW(are you blind??) -some pulse rifles kill faster than Thorn or TLW ever did. (Lol what??? TLW had a 0.17 seconds time to kill) Theres more but this post wasn't really worth the time I've already spent on it anyways.
