Good read. Appear he is gone because he didn't want to be pushed around by activision.
Edit: 1100 replies. this blew up way more than I thought it would.
What people should really take away from this is that all those leaks last year that Bungie had Deej come out and try to discredit were most likely real.
Granted, O'Donnel could have behaved more professionally, but he was one of the founding members and responsible for a lot of their success. His music contributed greatly to the tone of the halo series and he deserved to be treated with more respect for activsion.

While I don't like how Activision and Bungie acted on this matter, it still doesn't give an excuse for Marty to act so unprofessional.

70 OdpowiedziHere is a little jewel from the article you may have missed. The story was substantially changed in August 2013, one month(!) before the game was set to release. A month later, creative director Joseph Staten also leaves. I hope someday we find out what happened in that last run up to Destiny's release. It seems increasingly likely that Activision intervened in some major way, but I hate jumping to conclusions without all the facts.

All of this really makes me feel bad for Bungie for selling thier souls to Activision. They're stuck and won't be able to improve/develop the game the way they want until thier contract with Activision is up. By then thier reputation will be impossible to repair :(

I had always felt that this exact situation was the cause of Bungie's fall with Destiny. When I first heard that Marty left Bungie I knew Activision was doing something that was against Bungie's original beliefs
