Good read. Appear he is gone because he didn't want to be pushed around by activision.
Edit: 1100 replies. this blew up way more than I thought it would.
What people should really take away from this is that all those leaks last year that Bungie had Deej come out and try to discredit were most likely real.
Granted, O'Donnel could have behaved more professionally, but he was one of the founding members and responsible for a lot of their success. His music contributed greatly to the tone of the halo series and he deserved to be treated with more respect for activsion.

Real talk.

Should've joined up with Bethesda Softworks and made Destiny. The nice, long 4 year development time, and a fair DLC plan would've really paid off...

1 OdpowiedźNext move from activision? Inplementing micro transaction for in-game stuff. For ex. Xûr only sells exotic for real money. Or you can only beat the endgame by receiving special armor and weapons, which you only get after buying battlepacks.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Superman Corps: 9/6/2015 8:45:00 AMMake all of our legendaries, even our raid guns and gear obsolete? Give noobs our Year 1 exotics through special "Legacy Engrams" from XUR? I think I need a tshirt that says: "I played Destiny for hundreds of hours Year One and have nothing special (that year 2 & future Guardians can't get) to show for it except some emblem that they extended the deadline on making meaningless."

4 Odpowiedzi-blam!- Activision. I hope Bungie makes so much money from Destiny that they're able to just buy their way out of the contract and get somebody to publish them who doesn't suck. I don't think you can even do that, but hell if I know.

Didn't give a shot about this story but just read the Forbes breakdown and plan on combing through the court notes tomorrow after I watch the Herd beat the Boilermakers. All that aside, I think all parties look bad in the end of this. It's not all Activision's fault here. One thing I found interesting that Forbes pointed out, slightly unrelated to the case but mentioned, is that Destiny is a 5 part saga. That means there's going to be a Destiny 5. Again, back on point, he didn't really "stand up" to Activision and from what I can tell the whole damn thing was over the 1.2 millions shares of the company Bungie owed him. They're still going to use his music for the forseeable future, as he completed music for the whole 10+ years.

3 OdpowiedziI see a lot of people say Activision is the bad guy and was screwing up destiny. Here's an idea. Cancel you're pretty order. You can buy it a month later and it'll still be relevant. Don't preorder. Don't buy day one. Wait. Show Activision that they need to step off Bungie. Show Bungie that they made a mistake. Do this if you feel that Activision should be punished. Because they don't give a shit about you just saying it. They only give a shit about money. And if they don't even get half of what they got last year they will suffer. But that's only if you actually want to do something about it.

2 OdpowiedziMake our legendaries obsolete? Give Year 2 players our Year 1 Exotics with a special "Legacy Engram"? Make it so the only thing we get special for being super active year one guardians is also devalued by extending the deadline? #dumb

Well he got paid. Everyone's happy now, yes? Moving on.

3 OdpowiedziHe told BUNGIE he was only there so he wouldn't get fined, and then they had to let him go. Marty is love. Marty is life

1 OdpowiedźYeah - deceptive title. He's apparently gone because he became disruptive, unreliable, and difficult to work with. He became disruptive because he didn't like the direction Activision was taking the marketing of the game. Of course we only know what we read, but it appears to be your typical ouster of a high ranking exec after he felt disenfranchised. I'm just bummed we haven't heard the works of Sir Paul.
