Good read. Appear he is gone because he didn't want to be pushed around by activision.
Edit: 1100 replies. this blew up way more than I thought it would.
What people should really take away from this is that all those leaks last year that Bungie had Deej come out and try to discredit were most likely real.
Granted, O'Donnel could have behaved more professionally, but he was one of the founding members and responsible for a lot of their success. His music contributed greatly to the tone of the halo series and he deserved to be treated with more respect for activsion.

5 OdpowiedziThat guy sounds like a TOTAL dick just saying. Comes off very pretentious and immature. He said he couldn't make the music until the game was bug free and playable. PRETTY MUCH SAYING "I'll do my job when you're done with yours hehehe"

Bungie shouldn't have gone with Activison in the first place. They have been corrupted with greed.
-
Suck a dick Bungievision.

3 OdpowiedziSo Bungie gets independence from Microsoft because they want freedom to make the games they want. So they sign with Activision, who not only has made a mockery of the game with its marketing schemes but now has confirmed to meddle in the creative process for the game? Enough to run off Marty, and likely Joe Staten for similar reasons? Hilarious. Completely unsurprising, and hilarious. Meanwhile, Activision continues to shell out corporate money to chop games up into tidy revenue streams to the benefit of ATVI shareholders and everyone else is just willingly jumping along for the ride.

9 OdpowiedziDISCLAIMER:not defending bungievision here just stating some facts. I find it funny that everyone here accuses Activision of being greedy (which they are), but refuse to acknowledge how much of a greedy child Marty acted like (no insult here because he was). I read the article and it said he quit because they wouldn't pay him for work that was never used. He threw a child like tantrum when they wouldn't use his music. So? People can't use other music??? Also yes the shares may be his legally even before the ruling, but him pressing it has much has he did, like it or not, is still greedy.

4 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika MarcusSoul: 9/6/2015 1:11:22 AMSeems like he was getting a bit shafted and fought back in an obnoxious way which led to him being fired. As far as what happened to the game's story content and content in general this article says nothing except that it was revised a year before its official release. So all these people that are yelling about how Activision completely destroyed everything and this article proves it clearly didn't read it or didn't understand what they were reading. Yes, something happened but we are no closer to completely knowing. Chill.

1 OdpowiedźThe way I see it Marty was out of line, but it was only because he was trying to defend bungie and its creativity and work ethic from activision's greedy control. What rights do activision have over the game as publishers?
-
5 OdpowiedziFunny thing is Marty can still go to all of the board meeting because he still owns his original shares of the company. He could just go and sit there telling everyone to -blam!- themselves while they try and get business done lol.
-
3 OdpowiedziFrom what little is told of the situation, I wouldn't call Marty's behaviour childish. He did cause some frustration, but for the most part I think it was justified. Having spent ages constructing music for five games, along with voice work and environmental audio, then not only having that replaced with some Activision approved generic crap, and eventually out of place Le Zeppelin (I swear that was done to cash in on Guardians of the galaxy), most of the voice work cut and re arranged, but also prevented from publishing his own music, that would be extremely frustrating. The only real issues I have with him is threatening employees, which is out of line. Nevertheless, I'm glad he's back on the board. He seems like someone who could help keep Activision at bay without greatly risking his job or funding, unlike Bungie. It could also be an opportunity to help mend the relationship between Bungie and Marty. Though I really wanna know how Salvatori fits in with all of this.

2 OdpowiedziIt just shows you how ruthless and uncaring 'big' companies are. Halo became big due in large part to o'Donnels awesome soundtrack. (Can you imagine it without it?) Then he gets swept aside like trash, and has to sue the company he helped to fame to get what was promised, and then subsequently taken from him. Way to treat people that made your company what it is today! Big Bungie Family my @rse!

Had to slice through the disgusting jungle of #Destiny to reach this thread. Worth it.
-
-
So the 'conspiracy theories' around the content in Destiny are probably true.
-
Well that seems obvious just like the main story writer leaving for most likely the same reason R.I.P Bungie
-
2 OdpowiedziI agree. I think Bungie's upper management just has too much of an EGO, and needs to be knocked down several pegs. I think they didn't think it would happen to them... and that they were smarter than other companies Activision controls.

7 OdpowiedziWe all saw the evil coming from Bungie leaving Microsoft and going to Activision. Activision also takes massive shits on Blizzard by constantly cracking the whip. Look at what happened to Diablo 3 because Activision wanted their money faster. I can only assume Destiny 2 will be loaded with paid armor and weapon skins and rushed story.
