Why there needs to be 'girl' only clans
I have seen a lot of gender topics and it seems a lot of you are missing the real #1 reason this happens.
It isnt for specialness or segrigation (lets face it you can be part of multiple clans that are not female centered) or even to call attention to women.
Its actually for two reasons.
1. Men are everywhere here. I can find you guys and play the game with you at any point. But I have to hunt down the ladies if I wana girls night. As men you should understand this concept. Sometimes a bays night is what you need.
2. Safty. As I always say, "not all men, but all women." In other words while most of you guys are great every gal on here has run into more than 1 asshat that sexualy harrasses them at one point or another. So its just nice to have a safe place to go where you dont have to deal with that, or at least have a less likely chance of it happening.
If you as men and nice guys wana help and not make us feel we need these groups... the best way is to call out your buddies who you know make stupid unnecessary sexualized comments, not yell at women of seperating themselves.
Like anything bad you dont support, the first step is not participating but the second step is to call it out. Most of you got the first step down.
So what do you guys say? Help us out and start callingbout the jerks with us. Lets make it so one day women dont feel the need to take a break from your less than savory dudebro friends that cant stop talking about their D or how they wana bang the only lady in your fire team.
Help make it so women when messaging someone dont have to hope and pray its not another a-hole that constantly makes sandwich jokes.
I think we'd all have a lot more fun if we could accomplish this. Then when some noob comes in about 'girl gamers' we can truly honestly say there are just 'gamers' here on destiny.
Edit: should have done this sooner. By the time this thread dies all the crappy ppl will mute me or block me. This was a better solution than girls clans ever were.
Edit2: got a lot more good responses than I thought I would. I actually feel way better about this community. I wanted a good sample of what it was actually like.
Edit3: TLDR- I am saying I dont want to need an all female clan. Not that I want one. And pointing out why destiny still needs them. The problems the community as a whole still has.
Edit4: I aleeady have a clan. Though its available to everyone not just women dispite popular belief.
Edit5: so most of you claim its young boys that are the culprits...I find this facinating since most of the young men on my friends list are quite respectful.

As a guy I agree completely. Women should be able to feel safe and happy playing these games. Not dreading getting lousy pick up lines from the "asshats" you mentioned. I think it's great that everyday the female presence in games is stronger than ever. And to be honest, sometimes I'd rather game with females because they're likely to be nicer and keep a calmer head in certain situations.

if a guy says "suck my d***", that's your opportunity to trash talk him back. tell him his moms busy with it or something. in every aspect of life ppl will try to ruin your experience at some point. you either let them succeed or fight fire with fire. play a victim, you will be the victim. the second you allow someone to know what offends you is the second you give them control over your state of mind. I'm not saying these situations are ok for existing, I'm simply saying that being offended only perpetuates the problem

It's sad to me that we even need this post. But I have joined enough groups to know its true. I definitely agree though, I know plenty of guys who don't say these things but don't call it out either. People can call me whatever they want, but if you're acting like an asshat I'm going to call it like I see it, man woman or child.

I agree, but there's always gonna be offensive people out there. Trying to stop them is good, but honestly there's never gonna be a perfect completely female-friendly world, as much as people wish there could be. Just tell the guy who's harassing you to shut up or burn him when u get a chance, and if they don't stop, then just leave the fireteam.

Having seen the way most guys on here speak to and treat girls many of you completely need telling what's appropriate and to hear a girls perspective on playing Destiny. You can't possibly be told enough times that the way you are behaving is just fücking wrong and unnacceptable. You wouldn't get away with it in the work place or anywhere else in the real world, and so you shouldn't feel it's ok to do it here. I also never buy the argument that everyone treats everyone else like shit in the gaming world, therefore no one has the right to complain. The fatal error here is assuming that it's ok to equally treat everyone like shit. It's not. Stop being a sheep and doing it because everyone else does. Treat people with the respect that you want yourself.

This a great post. It's just unfortunate a lot of the commenters are completely missing the point. Too much victim blaming and the "just ignore it" or "that's just the Internet, deal with it" ,comments. And with the few people who agree are called "white knights,"(which is a stupid term, and insulting to both genders.) I'm not understanding why people are calling this attention seeking. This culture of blaming the victim, instead of the harasser, is completely backward. As if you don't have a right to stand up to sexual harassment. It's appalling. I'm embarrassed to be called a gamer, when there is risk of being associated with some of these victim shamers and harassers, who think it's ok to say what ever the hell they want just because they are behind a screen. The only solace i can take from this is that these same people wouldn't have the balls to say any of those shitty things if they were near a girl in real life.

Girls or no girls. Doesn't matter to me. I don't play with aholes period. Someone says something negative once I'll let it pass second time I let people know that they leave or I will. I have plenty of people to do stuff with, so I don't need to play with them.

I agree but doesn't Dames of Destiny provide that. Let me say that I think how some guys treat women in destiny is horrible and if I hear it I'll shut them down.
