EDIT: This post is more about level of competition differing in each game mode and whether your in a fireteam or not. This post is how playing different levels of competition and different game modes make it impossible to compare overall K/D. Hence it mostly meaning nothing. The part about "not being as good as you think you are" is directed at those who focus on playing lower level competition and probably need to realize their not as good as they think they are.
I've gotten a lot better at PvP over the last month. I'm still working on getting my K/D over 1.0 because I've dug myself a pretty deep hole :) so if you're going to call me a scrub... sure, I'm a scrub. But I'm getting better.
But what I've noticed is that I'm WAYYYY better when I play solo with a bunch of randoms in Control or Clash than any other game modes.
When I play with a full fireteam of clan mates, the competition seems a lot harder. When I play Skirmish or Rumble solo its a struggle to stay above a 1.0 K/D
I believe the competition increases tremendously when you play with other friends in Control or Clash. The algorithm for match making pairs you against better teams IMO.
I think the 3v3 games like Skirmish, Rumble or Trials are more difficult because there are more intense fire fights and your forced to out duel an opponent 1v1. In the 6v6 games you get a lot of crossfire kills and more careless play from your enemy.
So my point is... you're not really as good as you think you are if you're not playing in larger fireteams that pair you against other fireteams or the more competitive 3v3 modes with more Try Hard teams.
When I go 2.0 in Control... I know I'm only as good as my last most competitive match and I keep it real.
So If you're just cleaning it up in Control as a random with other randoms all the time... You would probably have a higher K/D than you would playing the more competitive fireteam based matches.
This leads me to believe that overall K/D in PvP really means nothing, because it's dependent on too many factors. Are you playing solo or with a group? Are you playing in the more competitive game modes like Skirmish, Rumble or Trials? Or are you just picking off scrubs in Control or Clash?
EDIT: I'm constantly evolving the OP to better clarify my point. It's a challenge :)

Oh I know what you mean at the beginning I was SO bad and still played alot so... And now I need to fix it. But I improved alot now mostly get 1.5 to 3 k/d

Edytowany przez użytkownika Symbology: 8/26/2015 9:18:01 PMJust be like all the other scrublord tryhards. Delete your characters and remake. It fixes KD in the playlists atleast. Still doesn't hide there mediocrity in grimoire crucible kills/ deaths or on destiny tracker. I love showing that off to them lol. In all serious, who gives a damn. I have a 1.4ish KD. Yet I lighthouse multiple times every weekend. KD means nothing. Edit: I did forget to mention that if you do have a really really good KD that atleast your family will be proud of your online exploits. Hell it may even get you a raise at your job!!!

Cool story

Killing a thousand rookies without Dieing wont train you to beat a good Player. Getting Killed a thousand Times because youre teammates still figuering Out which Button was for shooting wont Maße you a Bad Player. Thats it. Not more Not less
-
You dont have a 1 kd and You are talking about pvp lol
-
*Gets five kills and doesn't die so K/D is 5.0* I'M AWESOME AT THIS GAME!
-
Kd depends on kills and deaths. What was the point of this post?
-
They're just different games, accept it.
-
on you first edit. There is most deffiently a diffrence between a .5 guy and a 2.0 guy lol dosent matter how skewed the numbers are. the .5 guy is bad. the 2.0 guy is really good
-
Two words. Exotic. Bounties. Thanks to those, the KD of many is way lower than they should be. And that's good, because they get an exotic out of it. Which is more useful than having a high KD to brag about

You just destroyed some of my brain cells ffs

10 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika ArnnFrost: 8/27/2015 3:26:32 AMK/D can be easily controlled by leaving matches before it ends... unlike other games that adds it to your history as instant loss. Also Glimoire or whoever you type it, will reach 3k real fast by finding dead ghosts with any guide online..... Real skill is not staying alive and killing because you can hide in a corner and keep shooting everybody.... easy huh? Its actually how you counter other opponents with style. My style is stupidity xD wait for anyone to approach then throw a sticky grenade and hug em to die together then die of laughter ;P .... explains why my K/D is pure shit..... Yolo right?

3 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Sixclicks: 8/26/2015 3:29:37 PMNope... when I play with a fireteam I end up against complete scrubs and dominate. When I play solo, I end up with all the tryhards and have to actually work to maintain my 1.8-2.0 K/D (depends on the character I'm on). K/D certainly matters. A high K/D along with other factors such as a reasonable number of kills per game means you gain more points for your team than you give to the enemy team.

1 OdpowiedźWhy is it that everytime someone says "K/D does not matter" they have a negative K/D? It matters, you just don't want to think it does. GiT GuD.

1 OdpowiedźThe only people who say k/d doesn't matter.. .. Are people with bad k/d Case closed

1 OdpowiedźK/D is a direct representation of ones skill in the game. Its not everything, but it is quite important, and actually means a lot. It is a statistic that is directly representative of your ability to win gunfights and stay alive. Yes, it can be skewed by someone camping in the back of the map sniping all game, but at the same time, i would rather have a guy that does that and goes 5-0, contributing 500 points to our team and 0 to the other than someone who goes 10 and 15, contributing 1000 points to our team, and 1500 points to the other team. Also, the best players will carry a high KD throughout multiple game modes. Sure, they may better at one game mode than another, but most of the best players will not carry a .7 in one playlist and a 2.0 in another, it just doesn't work that way.

I agree that the competition gets tougher if you go in as a group... Destinys matchmaking could use a little work IMO

1 OdpowiedźK/D certainly means something... But not a whole lot when talking about competitive play in destiny. For example: Player 1 - Plays sweaties(organized matches against other good players) constantly and hover a little over a 1 or 1.5... Which is considered solid in these types of games. Player 2- In the same K/D bracket (1-1.5) that just play rumble or camp/sit back in control and just aren't very good. In no way is player 2 better than player 1 but the K/D's are the same. However if player 3 is around a 2.5(ish) or higher it's pretty safe to say they have skill. This is why there needs to be skill matchmaking in destiny. The better play the better and the lesser play the lesser. They could even do ranked and social separately like halo. C'mon bungie... Only makes sense.

2 OdpowiedziWhere are the statistics that more scrubs play control? I feel like Skirmish is a tough playlist but each playlist can show off some skill.
-
KD isn't really hard to increase, just camp using a overpowered gun, and boom! The individual has a good KD.
-
Edytowany przez użytkownika Mister Nice Guy: 8/26/2015 8:18:44 PMTBH, I find it easier to get a higher K/D in Clash than Control...probably because I try to cap, but yeah...So far, biggest K/D booster for me has been Rumble, since there are more targets to kill, despite not always ending at #1. It's funny that you have the opposite experience. Hardest one for me has been Salvage, but that's due to the quality of fireteams queuing for it, in addition to the objective.
-
3 OdpowiedziIf you've played thousands of games and have more kills than deaths then I'm pretty sure that means something.
-
1 OdpowiedźI actually disagree. My best K/D is in Rumble by quite a bit.
-
8 OdpowiedziI hate how KD is so dependant on the past. If my KD was to have started counting a month ago, I would have at least a 3.0 KD. It is so annoying
-
1 OdpowiedźSo you are saying you are good if you can just get clean up kills but 1v1 you'd lose...
