And the rustled jimjams are real...
It's no secret that many service industry workers depend on tips to make a living, but that doesn't stop the occasional customer from stiffing their server. A group of diners in New Jersey stooped to a new low, however: News station THV11 says a table of eight at D'Jais Bar & Grill left their server no tip on a $112 bill, instead writing "LOL" on the gratuity line.
20-year-old server Jess Jones, a student at nearby Rutgers University, posted the receipt on Facebook after the table stiffed her last week. "Even though they did wait an hour to eat, they remained satisfied with filled drinks and proper notice that the kitchen was a bit busier than normal," she wrote. "I need tips to pay my bills," she continued. "All waiters do. We spend an hour or more of our time befriending you, making you laugh, getting to know you, and making your dining experience the best it can be."
The post went viral on Facebook, spurring Belmar, N.J. Mayor Matt Doherty to post on the matter: THV11 quotes him as saying, "If you visit Belmar please treat the hardworking men and women in our service industry with the same respect you would expect at your job. This is ridiculous."
Of course, it could have been worse: Earlier this year a customer at a Thai restaurant in California left a racist slur in lieu of a tip, writing, "Hurry the f--- up zipperhead." Can't we all just agree to stick to monetary values on the gratuity line?

1 OdpowiedźLOL AT ALL THE POOR PEOPLE IN THIS THREAD WHO HAVE PROBLEMS AFFORDING A COUPLE EXTRA DOLLARS ON A STUB. IT'S JUST A GODDAMN TIP PAY IT YOU SHIT LORDS
-
2 OdpowiedziThis is why there should be a minimum wage for these people. Then they don't have to rely on tips to survive
-
7 OdpowiedziTipping is just enforcing and encouraging immoral business practice. Being paid below minimum wage SHOULD NOT HAPPEN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, this only happens because people are expected to make money through tips. There's no simple fix to this really, despite the fact that people bitch about their wages, they're probably actually better off in the long run with being paid below minimum wage but earning money through tips, since that money will generally go unreported, and they will more than likely earn over minimum wage from it anyway.

I should start doing this to useless waitress's

I would have turned that LOL into a $101 and showed that ass

26 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Engrapadora : 8/25/2015 3:54:30 PMOr how about restaurant owners just pay their dish slaves minimum wage and stop trying to pass operating costs onto customers? I'd pay a higher price for my food if it meant circumventing this bullshit. But servers would never accept such a system because they already average more than minimum wage, and most of them don't report it to the IRS. They can cry harder, I don't care.

1 OdpowiedźI tip based on how well you treat me, not some % of the bill because tipped wage is too damn low. Did you refill my drink without needing me to ask? Were you polite and friendly? Did you ask if I was enjoying my meal? Did you drop the bill off at the table and make me wait 45 minutes before you came and got my credit card? If you are a excellent waiter / waitress, my $50 meal will cost between $70-80 after I tip you well for treating me well. If you treat me like crap and I have a terrible restaurant experience, then not only is your manager gonna hear about your awful attitude, you will get a $2-3 tip... if I leave one at all. And I won't care what you think because I won't return to an establishment that charges me to be treated like crap.

This pleases me.

We dont tip here unless we want to its not expected and is a pleasant suprise for a lot of people when we do. If i go to america I will tip but dont expect me to break the bank if the server is a dick however dont expect much.

2 OdpowiedziIt's not the customers job to compensate for restaurant owners not paying their staff a sufficient amount, I tip if the service was good in the hopes it goes straight to the waiter rather back into the business to say thank you.
-
That is hilarious. LOL I don't know why I didn't think of that. Super funny. Don't f***ing whine just because you didn't get tips from customers. Like seriously, never expect tips. Deal with it, or just get the f*** out and find a better job. We should all be like Mr. Pink.

And people say we bitch about rich people too much...

My minimum tip is $1.00 My maximum tip is $5.00 Regardless of what the price is, though I usually eat with just myself or my brother so it's mostly never higher. Tip what you think is deserved, not what's common courtesy.

1 OdpowiedźAlso...
befriending you
Bitch no you just want my money
making you laugh
Your jokes are generally terrible and I'd rather have a laugh with my friends or family
getting to know you
I will literally never see you again
making your dining experience the best it can be
Asking me every 2 minutes if everything is good while I have my mouth full of food is not contributing to a good time. If I have a problem or request, I'll come find you

Last time my fiancé and I had to wait over an hour for our food, we just walked out. We paid for our drinks but we shouldn't have to wait over an hour for salads at a slow lunch hour. We had shit to do that day.

This is newsworthy? Seriously?

4 OdpowiedziAmerica should have a proper minimum wage instead of making workers rely on tips.
