EDIT #4 In less than 24 hours this board, where there's a lot of people expressing fear their voices wouldn't be heard in different and often times colorful ways, has garnered 642 comments the last time I checked just a few moments ago. It is the fastest growing post on Bungie.net that's not authored by Bungie itself. Furthermore, it has had more activity in less than 24 hours than some official posts made by Bungie itself have gotten even though they've been up several months.
OUR VOICE IS BEING HEARD I PROMISE YOU THAT FELLOW GUARDIANS.
KEEP IT GOING. BUMP IT. TWEET IT. LINK TO IT IN YOUR CLAN FORUMS.
ROCK THE VOICE!
EDIT #3 Everyone who is deriding this post should go on the record saying how they would have handled it.
I again ask you the question:
If you were in that conference room and two plans were laid out how would you have voted?
Plan A: Simply offer more compelling choices. If some goofball wants to use a year 5 level Doctor Nope (much at his own detriment in finding a willing raid or trials party), why shouldn't he be able to do so? This plan will invariably lead to much more diverse builds and gun usage.
Plan B: We can't trust them. Even if we offer more compelling choices, they may be too dumb to realize it and keep using that damned Found Verdict we designed 4 years ago. Let's just effectively take all the old guns from them, or even better: We'll let them keep 'Em but they'll be useless outside of patrol. Every time they open the vault, they'll have that bittersweet reminder of HOW WE MADE THE DECISION FOR THEM
EDIT #2 Will you go on the record saying of the two archetypical solutions to gear stagnation:..
1. Simply offer more compelling choices. (You'll have better guns you use much more than your old favorite hand cannon, but you could still use Fatebringer if you wanted to. You make the decision for yourself).
2. Draconian Gunicide. (Fatebringer is dead, and you'll never be able to use it with any degree of efficiency in any meaningful endgame content. Bungie makes the decision FOR YOU)
That you actually prefer for the decision to be made for you?
EDIT #1
I didn't say I would no longer play the game. I will cancel my preorder in protest but in all likelihood I will ultimately buy The Taken King prior to launch.
I made this post as a protest because I believe this is a mistake. When the House of Wolves came out, Bungie said they would never invalidate the work Guardians did the way they invalidated the work of Vault of Glass raiders when the Dark Below came out and suddenly there was better gear for sale in the tower. Back then, the official line was that they learned from that and acknowledged it was a mistake to invalidate our work and disrespect our time and efforts.
How is it that just 4 months later it's no longer a mistake?
I feel like this is doubling down on a weapon Gunicide policy that DIDN'T WORK THE FIRST TIME and required the creation of Etheric light to fix the mess it made.
How is it that an even more egregious even more wholesale Gunicide is now en vogue once again?
ORIGINAL POST
I've been a huge Bungie and Destiny fan boy since day one. I've spent hours enjoying the game, the lore and exploring the mysteries. If you look at my past posts you'll see I've been very active in the community and have tried to pass along any mysteries I uncover.
However, all of these charges purported to be in the Taken King have just gone too far.
If you feel like I do, that making 90% of our arsenal obsolete is a mistake...
THEN...
Please leave your declaration of protest re: the decision to make our existing arsenal obsolete, devaluing the in-game rewards of our year one experience and disrespecting the time we spent as one of the Year One Guardians who were amongst the first pilgrims in the world of Destiny.
Stand up for your guardian. Stand up for all the work you did. Stand up for your GALLY. Stand up for your Fang of Ir Yut. Stand up for your Fatebringer.
WE, THE FOLLOWING GUARDIANS DECLARE OUR PROTEST of the decision to render our existing arsenal obsolete; the decision to devalue the in-game rewards of our year one experience and the decision to disrespect the time we spent as one of the Year One Guardians who were amongst the first pilgrims in the world of Destiny:
Signed,
Superman Corps and the following Guardians who make it clear they sign as well...

35 OdpowiedziNone of you have even played with the new guns and you already bitching they ain't gonna be the same and blah blah blah. Honestly just quit the game quietly man or become game developers yourselves and see how easy it is to please everyone. This is THEIR game. You are buying THEIR product. THEY decide what we can and cant do but ain't absolutely no body who is forcing you to buy and/or play their product. All of you talking about other RPG's that upgrade their gear or whatever, go play that. Instead of coming in here tryina "protest" for dumb shit just go seek happiness somewhere else. I am not in any way against constructive criticism but most of you are just plain rude. Destiny is FAR from being a perfect game but honestly i can see that they're really trying to evolve with TTK, and then i see so many of you just bashing and trashing the product they've worked to hard to make. Its quite annoying frankly. "OMG bungie wants to -blam!- us all on purpose wah wah" Jesus, how about you go buy a game that suits your age and attitude better? If you hate it THIS much then this isn't the game for you. And if you're angry because you "wasted" money on it. Tough shit, welcome to the real world. Next time read a review or two before buying something. K? K. ^_^

1 OdpowiedźEdytowany przez użytkownika Sinister28A: 8/21/2015 10:01:37 AMI don't mind moving some exotics to the side for a while, so that grind for the new ones will be more fun and interesting. I would hope in time all might get moved up. However, if that's not the case. Bungie lied to its community, saying that all your exotics would level with you. And what about exotics like hard light or necrochasm that were never relevant despite necrochasm being the hardest to obtain. Then they finally get a buff just so they can end up continuing to be irrelevant. The defense of these actions would be that any Mmo or RPG works this way, the new stuff is always better and makes old op gear lame. The only problem is Destiny barley fits either category. Minimal social interaction options with other people and even having to use a lfg just to do certain activities, pretty crappy MMO. Limited caracter progression and no in game story, not to good on the RPG side either. Bungie you made a first person shooter with great game play, and a little bit of a MMO-RPG, stick with what your good at. Fix this broken story and give your players the exotic system you promised.

2 OdpowiedziIn a way change is good! I for one am looking forward to the awesome new content. Using new weapons too will bring something fresh to destiny for me. As much as I hold my beloved fatebringer and gjallahorn dearly I do. Row tired of using the same selection of weapons. Bring on ttk I say!

20 OdpowiedziAll right, obviously this is your first RPG game. Let me explain to you how it works so you can get used to it. I will be using the witcher 3 for my prime example. You start the game with a level 1 silver sword, you play through the game loot chest and end up coming across a level 2 silver sword. You immediately equip it because it is better and you take it out for a spin and you like it. You than make it through the game up to the end and find a level 10 silver sword. You than immediately equip it and play around with it and you fall in love with it. A few months later you are still using the same sword and you still like it equally as much as you did when you first got it. A DLC releases and you find a level 13 silver sword, you don't equip it and you refuse to use it is not the same as your level 10. Even though the level 13 is superior in every way you still won't equip it because you feel like you earned your level 10 sword. That is how stupid you sound.

I think the issue is bungie likes to hold our hand for everything . I agree the choice factor isn't in this game because bungie likes everyone to be the same. Notice how everyone looked the same in the beginning . Then finally once players were able to upgrade their gear players start to mix and match items finally. After a while players started figuring out if you equip items with the same perks you'll get a cool boost. Remember what happen with the hunter tracking nadas while using two items that had ashes to ashes? So now they're giving players the illusion of progression. Why I think this ? Well old gear is done and I bet my 5 strange coins that the moment you start the game the player will be rewarded with a green that out class any weapon you have. Unless you pre-order and gain access to the suro pack. What will you do ? Of course you're going to equip it. That's basically how the game will play out If they fix their loot system then that's how it's going to play out. You won't need to think what to use next . It's like this old game call magic sword I'm sure a lot of people played it. Notice how the game felt like an action slash/rpg however every time you moved up in the tower you were rewarded the best sword no matter what ? Well that's basically destiny for you. The illusion of feeling progression and it's kinda socialist because everyone has to be the same no one is a winner or a loser because everyone wins . Don't have a fatebringer that's fine we at bungie killed it and you can have this other hand gun that does more damage even though the perks suck but at least you the player won't need to worry about getting a fatebringer anymore. They should of handle it like Diablo 3 ros. They should of made the old gear ancient gear. So if old players want to use it well they have an upgrade for the old gear and make it useable. To me it feels they're trying to remove anything with year one . Like other people have said year 1 was a beta and stuff and a pricey one at that. But I feel bungie needs to stop holding our hand and let players make mistakes if they messed up with their gear that's their problem . They should already know better , why allow a new player to skip all the b.s we had to deal with how do they expect a new player to learn ? Is bungie expecting the senior players to hold their new players by the hand as well ? I don't mind helping but how do they expect newer players to learn anything ? Well let give them something that boost them to level 25 and they can start from TTK. Smh This post gotten to long I'm finish .

More options is never a bad thing, bungie taking away players options of the guns they want to use is them deciding for me how I would like to play my character. Let me make the choice bungie, not you. I like to use new weapons so ill be using all of the new exotics but not letting the old ones upgrade is a waste to have exotic blueprints. If you knew you weren't letting us upgrade our year one exotics then you should have focused work to more raids or meaningful content. What good is having a blueprints for your exotics if you are rendering them worthless? I like the idea of having hundreds of exotics eventually that are all useful in some way but artificially making me choose what you want me to play the game with is a big turn off. This is yet another mistake in a long line of mistakes you have made bungie. Its almost as if you are trying to make destiny fail.

Plan A. I definitly think keeping the old is good. It doesnt mean i wont use the new ones. It just means i want to use both.

Do you honestly want to keep using the same guns you've used over the last 12 months? Personally I don't mind. I don't think a higher level VoG or Crota is coming but if finishing one of these raids is part of a new quest for a new Exotic, THEN year 1 weps are still relevant for that activity? I think that's why they've increased the vault space. We still don't have the full picture, and I suspect Bungie don't either!
-
Can't believe you wasted your time typing all this useless drivel. Guns become obsolete so what? Find your new favourites.

1 OdpowiedźI always thought the weapons went like this Level 300 - good for upto level 30 ADS Level 331 - good for upto level 33 ADS Level 365 - good for upto level 36 ADS So they should still be good for upto 36... then I guess the new weapons will become better for higher level ADS.
-
Some people just want to see the world nerfed oops I mean burn
-
I agree with the sentiment, but the delivery is riddled with hyperbole and far too much shouting.
-
Reset (kind of), What did we expect. Blaming Blamers blaming the blam out of the blaming game. Blam bungie.
-
I feel the same way and all but to be fair other mmos do this all the time. Old gear becomes obsolete because new gear. Just wait for TTK to come out before we go crazy guardians.
-
I think all raid and exotics gear and weapons should be upgradable, I like the idea of new gear and weapons and I'm sure I'll find something new I love but I should have the choice! And raid and exotics should never be made obsolete
-
"Become legend" they said! But now, we just erase all your hard earned stuff to make you a noob again. "Bungie"

Edytowany przez użytkownika BHJ: 8/21/2015 9:46:29 AMThey justify it by calling it year two. You can expect something like this throughout this games lifespan, a clean slate or wipe. Kind of like when you play a games sequel and have to redo the mains skill tree but with different skills. Also you can't believe anything they say because at one time they said no matter what your exotics will progress with you. I've already deleted Destiny from my console and I'm not buying TTK, too many great games coming out this year to focus on this retarded shit. I just hate that I invested 3000 hours of my time on it. Waste. I'm sure whatever bungie has in store for this game I'll be able to pick it up again in four years or so and skip all the grinding and bull everyone will have to endure and get max level and have the best weapons with minimal effort, skip the filler and have the killer. The only people that will play this game in the long run will be squeakers growing up with it and that's who this game will be tailored to. The really sad part though is that this will be what they expect of games, they'll become accustomed to the minimal effort put in the making of the game, the minimal content of the game, and paying out the ass for it in installments. Companies like Activision and now bungie are ruining gaming with cash grabs and they do not care, one look at Luke Smith's nonchalant screw you throw money at me attitude proves it. And he's just one person, imagine how many others behind the scenes there are just like him, investors, profit sharers, etc.
