EDIT #4 In less than 24 hours this board, where there's a lot of people expressing fear their voices wouldn't be heard in different and often times colorful ways, has garnered 642 comments the last time I checked just a few moments ago. It is the fastest growing post on Bungie.net that's not authored by Bungie itself. Furthermore, it has had more activity in less than 24 hours than some official posts made by Bungie itself have gotten even though they've been up several months.
OUR VOICE IS BEING HEARD I PROMISE YOU THAT FELLOW GUARDIANS.
KEEP IT GOING. BUMP IT. TWEET IT. LINK TO IT IN YOUR CLAN FORUMS.
ROCK THE VOICE!
EDIT #3 Everyone who is deriding this post should go on the record saying how they would have handled it.
I again ask you the question:
If you were in that conference room and two plans were laid out how would you have voted?
Plan A: Simply offer more compelling choices. If some goofball wants to use a year 5 level Doctor Nope (much at his own detriment in finding a willing raid or trials party), why shouldn't he be able to do so? This plan will invariably lead to much more diverse builds and gun usage.
Plan B: We can't trust them. Even if we offer more compelling choices, they may be too dumb to realize it and keep using that damned Found Verdict we designed 4 years ago. Let's just effectively take all the old guns from them, or even better: We'll let them keep 'Em but they'll be useless outside of patrol. Every time they open the vault, they'll have that bittersweet reminder of HOW WE MADE THE DECISION FOR THEM
EDIT #2 Will you go on the record saying of the two archetypical solutions to gear stagnation:..
1. Simply offer more compelling choices. (You'll have better guns you use much more than your old favorite hand cannon, but you could still use Fatebringer if you wanted to. You make the decision for yourself).
2. Draconian Gunicide. (Fatebringer is dead, and you'll never be able to use it with any degree of efficiency in any meaningful endgame content. Bungie makes the decision FOR YOU)
That you actually prefer for the decision to be made for you?
EDIT #1
I didn't say I would no longer play the game. I will cancel my preorder in protest but in all likelihood I will ultimately buy The Taken King prior to launch.
I made this post as a protest because I believe this is a mistake. When the House of Wolves came out, Bungie said they would never invalidate the work Guardians did the way they invalidated the work of Vault of Glass raiders when the Dark Below came out and suddenly there was better gear for sale in the tower. Back then, the official line was that they learned from that and acknowledged it was a mistake to invalidate our work and disrespect our time and efforts.
How is it that just 4 months later it's no longer a mistake?
I feel like this is doubling down on a weapon Gunicide policy that DIDN'T WORK THE FIRST TIME and required the creation of Etheric light to fix the mess it made.
How is it that an even more egregious even more wholesale Gunicide is now en vogue once again?
ORIGINAL POST
I've been a huge Bungie and Destiny fan boy since day one. I've spent hours enjoying the game, the lore and exploring the mysteries. If you look at my past posts you'll see I've been very active in the community and have tried to pass along any mysteries I uncover.
However, all of these charges purported to be in the Taken King have just gone too far.
If you feel like I do, that making 90% of our arsenal obsolete is a mistake...
THEN...
Please leave your declaration of protest re: the decision to make our existing arsenal obsolete, devaluing the in-game rewards of our year one experience and disrespecting the time we spent as one of the Year One Guardians who were amongst the first pilgrims in the world of Destiny.
Stand up for your guardian. Stand up for all the work you did. Stand up for your GALLY. Stand up for your Fang of Ir Yut. Stand up for your Fatebringer.
WE, THE FOLLOWING GUARDIANS DECLARE OUR PROTEST of the decision to render our existing arsenal obsolete; the decision to devalue the in-game rewards of our year one experience and the decision to disrespect the time we spent as one of the Year One Guardians who were amongst the first pilgrims in the world of Destiny:
Signed,
Superman Corps and the following Guardians who make it clear they sign as well...

I stopped grinding/playing 2months ago when I realized it would all be for nothing. Why was I in a rush to beat skolas? Lvl 34 bah! I just came back as we are in the home stretch of ttk . Hoping for the best but not holding my breath.

I agree. I think there is a degree of laziness on Bungie's part too. It is probably more work to balance all the new exotics and old exotics together with one another across all content. Another piece of the puzzle might be that since the team has changed so much that the people in charge now want to see weapons created by the old team go away. Sort of a new regime gunocide.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Diamond D Nice: 8/21/2015 6:59:56 PMsadly i use all legendaries and a gjallahorn. So basically 100% of the guns i use regularly are obsolete. I guess for those that get off on chasing loot and rng it's fine. Like i just wanted a void fully auto shotgun. When i got one job done. I don't get off chasing random drops. It's there game. It's not my thing though.

TLDR
MY POST GREW FASTER
WHAT! 90% of what I used for an entire year will be useless and outclassed by the new gear? I can't believe it and I want to use the same 3 guns over and over again for 10 years! /Sarcasm lol Oh how I love this forum when I need a good laugh. When HoW released and you saw the ascend option it said it will only go to max of what year 1 was going to be so you should have already known about this from that point.
-
I've heard some exotics won't transfer over and all that but, even though I'll miss my mythoclast and Necro, I'm rdy for new weapons. As long as I have my hunter cloaks I'll be okay. 👽
-
No they always planed on doing it this way sorry
-
1 OdpowiedźI'm glad that we can't rely on old gear it makes it a bit more challenging
-
Seems it's out with the old and in with the new, like it or not.
-
7 OdpowiedziMost of you are down right pathetic and invest too much of your time into video games for asinine reasons IMO. If not using a certain weapon stops you from enjoying the game, play something else or don't buy TTK so your guns can stay relevant. People get so butthurt of a damn hobby, it's quite sad.
-
3 Odpowiedzippl still play this?
-
Don't say that this is the fastest growing thread on the forums... Had 2 posts that exceeded 1500+ in <24 hours...
-
3 OdpowiedziBungie keeps saying their goal is to have players play how they want, then take choices away when too many people play in a way bungie doesn't want. Bungie's words and actions are two very different things
-
That's funny, none of my gear is obsolete now, what game are you playing?
-
I for one don't care about losing most of the exotics. There's a ton I don't use. I just think that some others (like hardlight which totally related to the weapon foundries idea and vex/necrochasm as rewards for completing the year one raids) ought to transition too.

I wish fatebringer a short afterlife, and gjally none. That is all. Would you like gjally being as overpowered in Y2/TTK and using it instead of new exotics? If you say yes, you clearly don't know that they knew gjally was OP and they want to get rid of it and make people try guns that aren't as amazing, but fun to use. Gjally is old news and so is fatebringer.
-
The option here is make better guns for us to use lol. People use gjaalarhorn because its the best so come up with something better. Instead of shit weapons with shit perks like house of wolves.
-
They probably already have a replacement exotic for gally ready. More grinding ..
-
2/3 of exotics are gone
-
3 OdpowiedziWait... Did this happen when the dark below came out? Because if I'm not mistaken, they raised the damage numbers and wouldn't allow people to upgrade their guns.
-
I don't have a problem with legendaries being gone. My problem is that bungie have said "oh you can take some exotics up to year 2, but only ones we decide you can." Why should they get to decide which exotics i like and want to use? And no this isn't just about the gally, its as much about the MIDA or the red death or any other exotic.
