Exotic weapons. Do they or do they not upgrade to year two? I understand what a version 2.0 is. I get that it's a newer version with a different look and some new stats/perks. What we didn't hear anything about though is how to upgrade an exotic we have right now to the same status as year two weapons.
It was stated in the stream that infusion is only for year 2 weapons. So we can't use other guns to upgrade old exotics. So do we need to have a new one drop for us at a higher attack rating? Will they drop at a higher attack rating? Is there some sort of etheric light to upgrade them?
Would love a dev response!
Edit: Trending! Let's keep this alive so Bungie can see everyone wants to know about the true state of year one exotics!
Edit 2: A lot of people don't understand what the question is here. I'm not wondering how exotics get upgraded to a 2.0 version of said exotic. Bungie was pretty clear on how that works. The question is, how does exotic x get upgraded from 160 damage to 280 damage but still stay exotic x instead of turning into exotic xv2.0.
Edit 3: So it's come to my attention that there are screen caps of LBN at 160 attack value while not leveled up. This could mean that fully upgraded it might be the same as a v2.0 exotic which would be great. But then again they showed the Necrochasm and it's fully upgraded as soon as you apply the crux and it was a lower attack value. So it still remains unseen as to what will happen with our beloved exotics.
Edit 4: So Bungie tweeted that new questions would be answered tomorrow in the update. Hopefully this is one of those questions!
Edit 5: It's official. Not all exotics will be able to be upgraded. R.I.P.

my understanding is IF you have acquired the year 1 exotic you have the year 2 plans if they make a year 2 of the exotic. I did see you have to be level 40 and pay 125 legendary marks to pull the year 2 version from your kiosk. I think thats all there is to it. It looked like a year 1 copy of an exotic you pull from your catalog cost an exotic shard.

You can't. /thread

wow you must not of heard when they said that if you have Year 1 exotic your already have the Year 2 exotic once TTK is released. once you hit rank 40 and spend some Legendary Marks. what doesnt make sense is that it appears Year 1 exotics are dumbed down to level 20 base damage but a Light level will increase it to a 34 level on day 1 of TTK

3 OdpowiedziANSWER: The only reason that the Y1 weapons were lower damage is because they were NOT upgraded. Once upgraded, they will do the same amount of damage as the Y2 exotics. Then, in order to continue making them stronger, you need to infuse other weapons into them to raise their attack. The same rules apply to the Y1 armour exotics. Exotics will still be usable in TTK, they will just need to be upgraded. It's the same thing that happened between The Dark Below and House of Wolves legendarys, except they won't need to be ascended. If it's fully levelled now, it will be when TTK comes out.
-
Look at the part where he scrolls over Nechrochasm. Nechrochasm comes fully loaded, yet it doesn't have Y2 attack values. Seems pretty clear that Bungie, like usual, has taken 1 step forward/2 steps back and completely dropped the ball with our exotics.

1 OdpowiedźExotics will get ascended, but only a few will be updated with new perks is the way I took it.

1 OdpowiedźIf certain exotics aren't going to have the same attack value as others, then surely certain weapons are going to be favoured. I thought the whole weapon patch was to address such a thing. Makes no sense.

7 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika WARCOLONEL: 8/19/2015 10:19:32 PMWhat was concretely revealed: - Year one exotics are light 160. - Year two exotics are light 280. - The LBN (Y1) helmet had defence upgrade nodes which might raise it to year two equivalent, but this is unconfirmed. - 'New versions' of year one exotics have new perks and rebalanced perk trees. - The LBN (Y2) had no defence upgrade nodes, but did sport the infusion node. - The same is true for Y2 Suros Regime. - Necrochasim started higher than 160. - Infusion upgrading is only a definite to all year two content. If, and this is a big if, your over-all light level affects your individual guns, year one weapons aren't just left in the dust. An average of 250 light with a 160 Gjallarhorn may make the rocket launcher act as a 250 light weapon. This is pure speculation.

No. Only certain ones have year 2 version and only certain ones are in the collection.

yhea its the big thing im trying to figure out right now... we need an answer from the devs now!!!!

All exotics need damage/armor max

3 OdpowiedziYou should go watch the video again....they explained exactly how to get the new exotic guns upgraded to 2.0...they didn't say if all exotics would transfer though
-
4 OdpowiedziNo misconception with the exotics. Bungie made it clear during the stream how it works in year 2. The misconception cones from either people making false statements or they didn't pay attention too the stream.

2 OdpowiedziYes we need to know! https://www.bungie.net/en-GB/Forum/Post/147905927/0/0 Many confusions

I can understand them not allowing us to upgrade exotic weapons but exotic armor should 100% be allowed, I mean it's inevitable that at one point we will get an exotic armor piece with the same perks as a year one variant with just different aesthetics and I can already see how some people would prefer the year one aesthetics. I'm really disheartened to realize all my exotics are useless aside from select few. Oh well. I remember TDB armor was just ridiculously ugly (aside from some exotics) lets just hope TTK armor is cool looking or else I -will- simply keep doing Y1 content.

2 OdpowiedziWhy cant people just wait until september 15.

Bungie did confirm this. Year one exotics transfer via buying it with new 'marks' which still caps out at 200 and most of those exotics are expensive. Also the 2.0 update isn't just a cosmetic/perk overall. It's almost an entire overhaul to a majority of the guns stats, and how they operate.

BUNGIE PLEASE CONFIRM THEY CAN BE UPGRADED!!! PLEASE!!!
