Exotic weapons. Do they or do they not upgrade to year two? I understand what a version 2.0 is. I get that it's a newer version with a different look and some new stats/perks. What we didn't hear anything about though is how to upgrade an exotic we have right now to the same status as year two weapons.
It was stated in the stream that infusion is only for year 2 weapons. So we can't use other guns to upgrade old exotics. So do we need to have a new one drop for us at a higher attack rating? Will they drop at a higher attack rating? Is there some sort of etheric light to upgrade them?
Would love a dev response!
Edit: Trending! Let's keep this alive so Bungie can see everyone wants to know about the true state of year one exotics!
Edit 2: A lot of people don't understand what the question is here. I'm not wondering how exotics get upgraded to a 2.0 version of said exotic. Bungie was pretty clear on how that works. The question is, how does exotic x get upgraded from 160 damage to 280 damage but still stay exotic x instead of turning into exotic xv2.0.
Edit 3: So it's come to my attention that there are screen caps of LBN at 160 attack value while not leveled up. This could mean that fully upgraded it might be the same as a v2.0 exotic which would be great. But then again they showed the Necrochasm and it's fully upgraded as soon as you apply the crux and it was a lower attack value. So it still remains unseen as to what will happen with our beloved exotics.
Edit 4: So Bungie tweeted that new questions would be answered tomorrow in the update. Hopefully this is one of those questions!
Edit 5: It's official. Not all exotics will be able to be upgraded. R.I.P.

Some exotics will, some won't. I'm o ly assuming that the ones that don't are going to be replaced with a better gun. Personally I have no idea why they wouldn't upgrade icebreaker
-
If I remember correctly they said only certain exotics are being carried though AT THE MOMENT. So I think maybe that they'll include the others at a later stage. I really hope that they do because it gives more variety in the game.

1 OdpowiedźThe question is: "Do year 1 exotics in our inventory gain an infuse node?" and "Do year 1 exotics that we retrieve from blueprints gain an infuse node?" We know Y2 exotics have an infuse node (meaning that you will be able to take them to higher atk values than you see currently eg on the Suros they showed) You can't use Y2 exotics until lvl 40 though, so I am assuming that Y1 exotics will still be relevant up to that point - though you may have to blueprint & retrieve and re-level in order to gain an infuse node (as annoying as that will be)

Why is this happening?!

All of them carry through.

4 OdpowiedziThe twitch stream indicated that exotic shards will still have some role to play, so my hope is that a weapon like Queenbreaker's Bow can be brought up to the year 2 attack values using a shard, and the same would go for all of the exotic armors as well. Even though a weapon may not have a new upgraded version like Suros Regime, my hope is that it can still remain relevant damage-wise through the use of exotic shards or some similar system

1 OdpowiedźAll exotics we be the highest attack but some will be 2.0 versions with new perks SIMPLE to understand

Bump, my understanding was all exotics are coming, some took steroids along the way though. (What the -blam!- is Hawkmoon gonna be!?!¿?!¡

Edytowany przez użytkownika Portagaz D Natsu: 8/20/2015 11:08:54 AMI've been going crazy about this since yesterday, I always knew and didn't care for year one legendary gear to die, but exotics are different in every possible way, and to see them being treated like all year one legendaries isn't right.
And no I don't care that where getting new exotics, it's good that we are and I'm looking forward to to it, but like the ones I have now and they where a lot harder to get than any raid weapon, if you can't see how important they are, then go ahead and delete the ones you have right now
EDIT 4: Of course they have to answer, since that Cozmo thing was a charade, we could see right through it, hell I bet there was even a cue card guy in front of the camera

Wouldn't be surprised if some exotics get a year 2 version in upcoming dlc, imagine a y2 Gjallahorn That is only accessible if you buy the next dlc? What comes after The Taken King?

Necrobump

This is surprisingly a well done thread, it is cohesive and uses punctuation. I would really enjoy knowing if my old year one can be used at full power, the changes made to thorn made it sound really fun for PvE (stacking dots!) But if the damage stays lower capped, that makes it useless in PvE.

5 OdpowiedziWhy would bungie allow some exotics to be brought into year 2 but not others? It makes absolutely no sense... I understand they are giving some old exotics new perks, but why THOSE exotics? Why would they choose those ones over any others and render a majority of exotics useless and therefore a majority of the blueprint system, useless. Why would you want to buy an old year 1 exotic with low attack values if it's going to be worthless? If you are trying to make the argument of "they are only doing it for the unpopular exotics," then I would ask if you noticed The Last Word as being one of the new year 2 exotics, one of the most popular guns in pvp. Also why nerf/tweak things such as Thorn, Ghorn, and Icebreaker if we aren't going to be using them anyways? Old raids you say? Why would you waste time and resources re-tuning for outdated content that will have absolutely no relevance? It's like putting your seat belt on after you already got into a car accident. Furthermore, why wouldn't you just use the new year 2 weapons with higher attack values in there anyways. One of the devs goes out of his way to talk about how hard he has worked to get bad juju and that it will be the first thing he upgrades in TTK. Wouldn't this be a slap in the face to other exotic bounties? You work just as hard for other exotic bounty weapons and they will just be useless now? What sort of logic does this whole exotic bounty thing ground itself in? I'm all for using new weapons, believe me, but I am incredibly confused on how this new system is going to work. And if it's going to work in the way that it was portrayed in the stream, I don't understand the logic behind it.

Also want to know if we can still get year one exotics to complete the full collection of we are still missing some?
-
Edytowany przez użytkownika Iji The Killer: 8/20/2015 9:43:33 AMNo, they are trying to leave the OP stuff behind and giving us year two versions of the ones they won't us to use. That was my take away from the reveal at least.

1 OdpowiedźI agree with this question. The part they need to clarify is if after adding up all the weapon damage upgrades; do year one exotics become the max damage level, can they also be infused, and is there a different way to get them to max damage? These questions need to be answered. If the answer is "no" I will find it the dumbest decision made by Bungie so far. Necrochasm is not getting a year 2 upgrade version, its been useless forever, and you are finally buffing it to be useful. However if they don't allow it to be upgraded to max then what was the point of using it in the first place? The gun still won't be as good as it could be in PVE in PVP. Don't destroy some of the fun exotics not many people use; I love my Mida and don't want to lose it.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Bisto: 8/20/2015 9:30:26 AMIf there is a year 2 version of any exotics you have, they will be avaliable to purchase from the blueprints terminal for legendary marks. Then it just needs leveling again. I think bungie have done it this way to make certain year 1 exotics redundant. I didnt see a year 2 version of Thorn in there did you guys? My bet is that there is no year 2 version of Thorn, the old thorn may still be useful in regular cruicble where level advantages don't apply, but in IB or Trials, thorn will be useless :D
-
From the video, I was under the impression that if you had a year 1 weapon you were automatically given the year 2 versions (and it looked like it was fully unlocked considering deej could have unlocked those perks but didn't bother to when they looks at Suros.
-
1 OdpowiedźI'd guess you wont be able to upgrade year 1 exotics to year 2 because why use a year 1 hawkmoon when there'll be a year 2 hawkmoon (the same but with extra perks)

3 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Tamed: 8/20/2015 6:30:20 AMAll exotics will be upgradable to the new attack/defense level while legendaries will be left behind. They already said that before the stream. But only some will get "Year 2 versions" with new perks, like that dope ass looking black and red Suros Regime and Light Beyond Nemesis.
