Can everyone please stop using "autistic" as an insult and derogatory term on the forums? As someone who has grown up with an autistic brother (real diagnosis), I really take offense to this. My brother is a wonderful person and I hate seeing autism used as an insult.
Edit: I expect trolls. Go ahead and call me autistic. All it does is make our community look like a bunch of insensitive jackasses.
Edit 2: Thank you to all of the people that have genuinely added to the discussion and given me some insight. While I may disagree with you, if you aren't offended by it then that's fine. I don't expect this thread to make much change, but I am hoping that some people stop and consider what I am saying.
Edit 3: I know it's the internet. Just stop using it. It makes you look like a dumbass when you use it as a serious insult. Calling me autistic doesn't even offend me personally and honestly, saying it as satire doesn't bother me. Is that really the best thing you can come up with, Flood?
Edit 4: I've gotten another wave of you're autistic responses. You people are -blam!-ing sheep. People keep saying that it's just the internet so who cares? This is part of why the internet stays like this. Because people become so insensitive and confident when they are behind a screen that they'll just throw any insult around and not give a shit who it hurts. It's truly sad. No one says anything about this kind of stuff most of the time and the ones who do get torn down by the rest of the soulless internet crowd. This is why shit never changes. Because the people doing this shit have no fear of getting backlash since everyone else just starts doing it too or they get some strange satisfaction out of being douchebags. Just wow.
Edit 5: At this point, this post exists solely to test how dumb the Flood can really be. Keep it coming, guys. But please be more creative with your insults. OP is autistic seems to be the favorite. Why do you people want to do the same thing that everyone else does? Dirty conformists.
Let's just throw gay, retarded, etc in with this as shitty insults.
Ugh, trying to say anything reasonable to the Flood is like repeatedly slamming your head against a brick wall.

19 OdpowiedziI love you bb. Here's something that someone told me from off-topic.
It anonymity and also a reflection of themselves. They've done studies that show those that carry on and harass online in games and on things such as forums are usually weak and/or bullied in person. They compensate for this by creating and "online persona" of themselves that reflects who they want to be/who they can't be in person. So really all those idiots who carry on are pretty much weedy little virgins living in their parents basement. - DieselRose
Pretty much somes up people that act like this online. Just ignore them, all they want is a reaction, so they can get some sort of attention that they lack from their horrible lives.

This forum is full of insensitive jackasses

1 OdpowiedźI agree with you. My grade school had a program for children with autism and it was filled with some really rest kids. My best friend in first and third grade was autistic. I helped him out a lot and he always made me laugh. However, his mood changed a lot and he didn't learn like the rest of us, but he was still incredibly smart. He remembered almost everybody's birthdays, he never forgot homework, never had to be held back in class, and was very creative. The past school year was actually both of our freshman year of high school. It was my birthday and I opened up my laptop and went to browse around. I checked my email for some stuff from a website (not a porn site) for verification. The first thing I saw was an email from him wishing me a happy birthday. Last time I had him in one of my classes was fifth grade. Fifth grade. He remember that one day out of the 365 of the year for 4 years, just to brighten my day. I felt bad because I never remembered his. And I can't ask him because his gmail changed and he went to a different highschool. Seeing people on these forums call someone "autistic" because OP brings up a good point that they don't agree with is really pathetic. If you have to tell someone they have a disorder because something they said you felt was "idiotic" should really make you rethink how you view someone's opinion. Everyone else on this site is a human like you. Treat them like one.
Say what you want. Call me "autistic". Call me something stupid. See if I give two flying -blam!-s.
I support your argument, it's wrong when people use words like "autistic" and "retard". Don't listen to the douches who keep saying offensive stuff. The internet is where people usually get the most hostile.

Edytowany przez użytkownika MrJayKiller: 8/12/2015 12:51:57 AMMy cousin is autistic but you have to have a well placed eye to see how well she covers it up. Sad thing is she's hot, like not incest-wise but she's really beautiful and she's never had social relationships. I'm her only friend, and she makes it seem like we're a couple. Whenever I see autism used as an insult I feel my stomach turn because I imagine her falling in love with me... Its weird, I know, but I agree with you OP.

It's not a douchebag thing, it's a dumb-ass thing. What self respecting gent of the interwebs would dare call someone autistic, M'lady.

I wouldn't worry fella, the person/s insulting you over a forum have most likely been bullied, touched as a child and very insecure! It says more about them than you! There are indeed a lot of young sheep on here who will follow the flock!

2 OdpowiedziI've never used "Autistic", and I never intend to. I agree with you entirely, but no matter what, not everyone can change. But that also doesn't mean we can't change anyone.

what ever happened to sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me? people need to stop playing the victim card and worry less about what people say about them and more about what kind of person they are through their actions.

Seriously though, what did you expect? You're telling people to not do something and that it offends you. You're a idiot for 1. thinking that you could actually get people to stop using autistic as an insult 2. Not expecting this kinda response

All insults are based off of disabilities and titles. Quit trying to stand a moral high ground, it's pathetic.
