I was just wondering how many Christians (of any sect) are here playing this game.
I've noticed that this game has some religious things in it that point towards Christianity, such as the Traveler being God, guardians being angels, and Fallen being demons.
Just a little observation.

True Christians love to shoot s hit in the face..... hey ho
do as christ did
I wouldn't say that much of the game points towards Christianity. I think that the creators have drawn influence from many religions to help create this work. Having said that, there are always lots of similar themes between religions so there may be parts that apply to many religions.

4 OdpowiedziI'm Catholic, but the enemy in war is always demonized. The Fallen are more victim than anything.

1 OdpowiedźThere are those that have their beliefs. There are those that have their disbeliefs. There are those that will always force their beliefs or disbeliefs to their dying breath no matter what. And then there are those sitting, watching, enjoying, and sipping the jungle juice.

9 OdpowiedziIm not convinced of the parallels here but I do find one thing interesting. As soon as someone says the name of Jesus, the hate flies. The Bible said that would be the case. Everybody is so accepting of different creeds, religions, beliefs, sexual preferences, etc. But there is no faster way to be mistreated than to proclaim the name of Jesus. Interesting...

Travelers an alien, not god. Guardians are the warriors of the traveller. And the enemies are evil aliens. No religious connection what so ever.

8 OdpowiedziYour blind a see God in everything most likely. Go take a dump and see if you see angles and demons in there.

4 OdpowiedziThis game has religious themes, though they apply to almost every religion. Your references apply to Judism, Christianity and Islam (no wonder since they all have the exact same foundation; God, angels, old testament etc) However they could also hold true for older religions like those of the vikings, egyptian, romans and greeks. Again the Egyptian, Roman and Greek have played a big part in influencing the then relativily new religion of Christianity. Could be said that Christianity has taken a lot of elements of the ancient roman religion (which was a copy of the greek one, which again had heavy ties with Egyption religion) Religion in general has all of the same themes, just a different execution most of the time. Some details that change, but that's pretty much it.

1 OdpowiedźI'm mormon, but I really didn't pick up on those similarities.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Brokkr: 8/5/2015 5:48:14 AMWell zues is a god who had lesser immortal champions who fought monsters/demons from the underworld and other places. Destiny has no images or ideas that are specific to Christianity. Those vague themes could apply to nearly all religions ever.

1 OdpowiedźI wouldn't compare the fallen to demons, they're more like space pirates

Get this shit to the section that doesn't matter just like this dumb -blam!-ing post #offtopic

Not a Christian. But I can see the metaphors you noticed. I'd say your similarities have more n common with Old Testament content. I don't see a Christ figure in the narrative, at least in its current form.

5 OdpowiedziHere's an idea. If you want to debate religion, do it respectfully. If you can't manage that, STAY OUT OF THE THREAD
