I remember my first nightfall, 3 of us tried and failed so many times. It was week 1, Sepiks arc burn. We stood huddled in a Titan bubble, outgunned and under-levelled, and only two of us had arc weapons. After hours and several attempts, we gave up.
****
1,000 hours later I walk up to Sepiks, wearing ancient Vault of Glass armour plundered from time itself and holding my Black Hammer, a LEGENDARY sniper rifle plucked from the bones of a slain God and infused with etheric light from the depths of the Awoken Queen's treasure hoard in reward for slaying the treacherous Kel of Kels, Skolas. Now I am the boss, now I am the powerful one. I ignore the pitiful minions and hammer away at Sepiks, I line my shots up with practiced precision - this time there is no bubble, this time there is no hiding, only the sound of my hammer rhythmically cracking away at the once powerful servitor like a rusty nail. Within minutes he is dead. I occasionally think back to that time when we couldn't beat him and remember just how far I've come.
Investment ...
The feeling of being powerful and rewarded is central and critical to video games. God forbid I defeat a god with his own sword and get rewarded with some awesome tool and use it to be more powerful. God forbid I become legend.
2.0 is troubling because it changes the nature of gear we have spent a very long time with, gear we spent a long time trying to get (it took nearly 100 tries for my Black Hammer), gear we upgraded and then upgraded again with etheric light (some exotics had to be levelled twice!), gear we've gotten attached to over the course of hundreds of battles. So this 2.0 feels very deflating, it goes against the feeling of growth and investment. It makes me less excited about getting new gear because it could get fundamentally changed. It makes me less attached to gear I already cherish - what if Bungie decides Fatebringer's firefly is just too powerful for a hand cannon?
Bungie, you wanted our guns to tell a story. Well, that's my story. I worked hard to get that gun and it's very special to my guardian. Please don't end that story with "and then one day my incredible sniper was suddenly really ineffective so I didn't really bother using it anymore."

Absolutely. I feel the same, Guardian

1 OdpowiedźBump! Not to mention icebreaker and ghorn. I feel these weapons are stand alone weapons in the game. Say what you will about the ghorn needing a nerf but have you ever fought crota on hard or skolas? These guys are sponges. You need powerful weapons to take them down. Nerfing these 3 weapons is upsetting.

I could not agree more with this post. Well said sir!

3 OdpowiedziThis is bang on. Loot games have no purpose if they make everything vanilla. There are supposed to be rare great weapons and armour that cause imbalance. That's what keeps people playing. If it's all the same there is no reason to obtain it.
-
Plenty of time to make changes

1 OdpowiedźThe point of 2.0 is mostly to pad content. That's why the games 3 best boss killers were nerfed. We complained about bullet sponge enemies so they had to find another lazy way to extend the length of battles. I.E. can't buff baddies hp? NERF icebreaker, black hammer, and Gjallahorn! It's a sneaky way to create the same effect

2 OdpowiedziI know I'm a useless perk, but Bungie dose not give a -blam!- about loyalty due to they just tripled their income due to pre orders of taken king, and people who were dumb enough to by the 80$ collectors who already have the game, the practices of this game it to sponge us dry due to they think that this game is a"MMO" and since there is no subscription fee they pull that card " O something new buy it buy it now with out even seeing it." PS I love this Game I really do its just they want the new kinderguardians not to feel left out. But they will I rather play with my buddies who struggled as forever 29 as that gave us a bond and nerfs are stupid just buff all Guns Like In MW2 it was Chaotic but a controlled chaos due to everything was OP. (Wow for a perk no one likes its cough cough vacuum) what the community must show Bungie it not about they money it about the addicting game play and wonderful perks like shank burn. why doesn't bungie do a communty contest like beat all raids with only legendary s or hell blues for vog year one people did it it was a pain in the ass but we managed to feel that you listening to our voices, not our money. Well I'm out of shit to say....... O wait -blam!- SHANKS Toddles
-
I like how they sold the pre-orders before announcing these nerfs. I'm glad I didn't buy it. As much as I've loved destiny this past year I feel like the time has come to say goodbye of this is the type of situation that Bungie is going to repeatability put its fan base in.
-
3 OdpowiedziYes it is. People spent lots of time and effort chasing black hammer thorn and such only to have them ruined cause players cry buckets of tears every day over things that don't matter in the crucible and bungie wants to show more hours played in pve. Thanks all.
-
-
And this is the problem when you don't separate pvp from pve.
-
YES! The 2.0 update is punitive. It punishes players for determining the best guns, grinding for them, and grinding to update them.

4 OdpowiedziCan someone tell me how making the year 1 weapons obselete is any different from Wow releasing a new expansion where quest gear is better than the epics and arena gear you spent weeks on end trying to get? I realize this is not Wow (some elements are the same) but that is the only other game I have put as much time into as destiny. I love my ldr, voc and ice breaker as much as the next person but I've come to terms with disenchanting hard earned gear in wow and I don't see how this is much different. We can all agree that HoW gear is trash but I'm looking forward to these new company specific weapons coming with the ttk. The suros weapons look sick.

I quite like the thorn buff. That dot is gonna wreak havoc on captains now 😊

6 OdpowiedziExactly My legend story goes like this...I was having fun...somehow bungie found out and nerfed it.
-
1 OdpowiedźExactly this. Bungie forgets the other half of this is the player experience. What if Marios jump got tweaked the moment the 99 lives trick was discovered and was adjusted constantly or you were told you told Links master sword won't shoot a blade shot at full health because it was too much? User experience like you mentioned is personal and changing it violates what makes it meaningful. Why do you think Star Wars fans are so angry at the special editions? Because it's not the way they first experienced it. Sure the story is the same but for many it's not. Excellent response that unfortunately won't be heard by them. I hope I'm wrong. Thanks op

Edytowany przez użytkownika Flare34: 7/19/2015 11:25:06 PMThey stated that ttk weapons will all use the half assed perks that HoW weapons use. The ones no one bothers to use. The reason PoE was a huge disappointment, so much time for absolute garbage as a reward. This is what you're getting if you buy TTK. This is what they're nerfing all vanilla weapons to prepare you for. Good luck with that.

3 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika BrunkyDLuffy: 7/19/2015 10:41:24 PMThis is beautifully written; a great read. But the truth is, I very likely won't be playing this game by the time that patch goes through.

This. But evidently we've been having badwrongfun.

18 OdpowiedziI hope you all realize and remember the following: Bungie nerf'd Valus and Skolas claiming their data showed we weren't completing those missions for they took too long. The 2.0 nerf premise is that the guns are too effective, kill too quickly and need to be tempered (increase mission duration). Do you see the contradiction clearer now? The nerf is and never was about OP weapons. It was always about buying TTK to restore your inventory of OP guns. The nerf coincides with the TTK release, I think not. It was planned for that release so your guns would immediately be less effective and the TTK guns more attractive. It is and always about your $$$...

35 OdpowiedziIf you want to blame anything, blame the fact Bungie gave you OP weapons from the start and didn't realize it till they were active. You might as well consider this game still in beta. Shit like this is gonna happen. Until they learn what works and what doesn't you might have to deal with a few nerfs. So you don't get unlimited ammo on a broken legendary, WHO CARES. Grow up. Been playing since beta and this is the absolute worst I've ever seen these forums. Like a bunch of babies that need some milk.
