There's a HUGE problem with the Australian price for The Taken King .... it's $70.
(And not just Australia, but other countries. Read on to find out how you can make me write limericks about it)
Yes, of course things cost different amounts over here. So, here's some examples of current new release DLC prices with approximate difference percentages to help illustrate the kinds of prices we pay Downunder:
Advanced Warfare season pass - approx 30% difference
US = $50 Aus = $64
Notice how the U.S. price is more expensive than TTK yet the Aus price is cheaper than TTK
The Witcher 3 season pass - approx 30% difference
US = $25 Aus = $35
Farcry 4 season pass - approx 30% difference
US = $30 AUS = $40
Destiny expansion pass - approx 15% difference
US = $35 AUS = $40
Destiny HoW/tDB DLCs
Individual
US = $20 AUS = $25
Season pass
US = $35 AUS = $40
The Taken King - approx 75% difference!!!!
US = $40 AUS = $70
Are you actually kidding? I just bought The Witcher 3, a new release game (incidentally with more free DLC than the two paid Destiny DLCs) for $78. And you're trying to charge $70 for TTK!?
As you can see this problem is exclusive to The Taken King. Activision's other games aren't marked up 75% nor are other company's games, not even the previous Destiny DLCs are this expensive. Also, the contract with Bungie/Activision states they must both discuss and agree on pricing and marketing strategies and only after an escalation process does Activision have a tie breaking vote - just in case you were going to write "Activision sets the prices" - Bungie are certainly involved in the process. It's got nothing to do with our exchange rate or minimum wage because as I've proven, other games aren't marked up this much.
It's either a huge mistake spanning multiple countries (UK and NZ have unbelievably high prices too), or its plain greed.
Don't let this thread die.
Please bump until Bungie responds to this unprecedented and puzzlingly high price.
Bumps and support are needed. And let Bungie know if you're not going to buy TTK at $70 AUD or UK £40. Sales count. None of my Aussie friends are buying at that price and neither am I. Keep it positive, I believe Bungie still listens and if this gets enough attention we can achieve change.
* IMPORTANT \/ \/ \/ \/ IMPORTANT *
Stretch goal: to encourage your responses, every 100 replies I will write a limerick about this situation ... and my limerick game is strong, son.
(remember I live in Australia so limericks will appear during Australian Eastern Standard Time working hours, or when I wake up).
LIMERICK ZONE
I bought the last two DLCs
Transacted at reasonable fees
But I just checked the store
Taken King will cost more
For people who live overseas
Now watch for the fanboy reply
They think they can all explain why
They quote from web pages
Our minimum wages
To explain why the price is so high
That logic it just does not jive
For that argument to survive
You must tell me, please
Why the last DLCs
Both only cost 25

if i add 500 bumps do i get 5 more verses of epic limericks... it's tempting. I wasn't going to buy it for £40, that's $63 USD, more than 50% more than what the US are paying. Get -blam!-ed Bungie. Plus now they are nerfing the shit out of everything so whats the point any more, if weapon balancing 2.0 is anything like weapon balancing 1.0, it won't be balanced, will break the vex, the QBB, handcannons will be nerfed to the ground, pulses will be shite again, auto's will reign supreme once more and shotguns will still be shotguns. I quit, but i'm staying on the forum for the lolz

I knew shit like this was gonna hit the fan the moment Bungie and Activision teamed up to develop and publish a game. Activision couldn't wait to get their hands on a cash-cow that wasn't CoD.

While you've got the need bat out, Bungie. Nerf the price of TTK for overseas people.

Us Americans have it easy... I guess Bungivision doesn't know how to think outside the US dollar.

So I proved your numbers are complete BS but you still haven't changed them?

1 OdpowiedźYou'd think that Bungievision WANT'S it's players to go buy games from different publishers. Unless there is more content in TTK than in the base Destiny game, time to go buy a different AAA game. That, or spend the money on Steam credit and buy a few AAA games on sale.
