You have just completed Skolas, the highest level boss in Destiny right now. You do not get a weapon, but instead you have found a shard. However this is no ordinary shard, it is an elemental shard.
What is this elemental shard you just picked up? Let's take it to the speaker to find out, he deals with all of the other shard business.
You arrive at the speaker and he prompts you with 3 options; void shard, solar shard, and arc shard. A bit confused, you pic arc shard. A whole new page pops up on the speaker where you are able to switch between the page where he sells all of his normals wares, and this new page. On the page you see a broken circle split into 7 pieces. One spot is filled in with your shard, it is glowing blue with lightning!
You are excited to see what happens when you get all the shards needed to complete the circle so you go do other various activities such as lvl 35 Crotas End, and lvl 35 Valt of Glass.
It takes time, you don't get a shard for every lvl 35 activity you do, but you manage to get at least 2 every week (RNGesus has been smiling down upon you recently). Anyway, after 4 weeks you have all the shards necessary to complete the circle. You make your way to the speaker and you turn in the remaining shards and you are rewarded with an exotic element!
By now you know what this means so you go and inspect your Hawkmoon and you see that there is an arc damage option. You select it and it pops up on the side of your screen. A arc damage Hawkmoon. You wonder if you are the first in the world, so you go onto google, but you find that there are people out there with solar red deaths, void Mida multi tools, and even void Hawkmoons!
Summary:
1. You get shards from doing the hardest thing in the game
2. Take those shards to the speaker and pick an element
3. Once you give him 10 shards he gives you an exotic element.
4. You put that on any legendary/exotic primary that does kinetic damage
Things to know; It drops with all of the other rewards, you can only do one element at a time, the element you're working on is on all three characters.
That's a bit shorter for ya :D
What do you guys think of the idea?
Credit goes to finalvincent21 for helping me think of this!
Credit also goes to A Dracomancer for suggesting the number change from 10 to 7!
Edit: You are limited to 3 elemental shards per week across all 3 characters to prolong the time it takes to get an exotic element. This is meant to be a journey, honestly I didn't get the same satisfaction when I got my PoE weapons as when I got a gun like fatebringer. I want you to feel the satisfaction in knowing what you did to get an arc Hawkmoon or a void bad juju. I want you to feel a sense of achievement.
Edit: Also I know I'm probably not the first one to think of this, but I haven't read anything like this on the forums yet.
Edit: I decided to change it so the circle is split up into 7 shards, because... ya know... 7 :D
Edit: It may seem like it takes a little long to get an element to put on your primary, but I think that it's justified. You have to do the hardest things in destiny to get it. You are trying to make good guns become godly guns. So you are going to have to work for it :)

1 OdpowiedźSounds awesome but way to much work for bungie. They couldn't even replace the glitched out ghorn they stole from xur, but somehow they were changing it when megaman was leaking info
-
1 OdpowiedźMaybe just elemental shards to last temporarily for the day, so you could give any of your primary burns for weekly's nightfalls and poes
-
-
17 OdpowiedziSo you get a trials primary with kinetic and then run 35 Poe or vog/crota on 35 and you get the same reward for going flawless? Talk about a fake adept jewel of Osiris I do love the idea but yea there would be no reason to run trials anymore lol

By far one of the most creative ideas I've read on these forums I personally hope budgie reads this and adapts it so I can get myself a solar hawkmoon >:)

This is an awesome idea. I've always wondered what it would be like to have an element on any of my primary exotics. It would definitely open up a lot of options when picking my Loadout for an endgame activity.

So I have to wait 4 possibly more weeks for this, just to put Arc on a Gun that doesn't even need an Element? Seriously, stop giving Bungie ideas on how to stretch this game out even further, it's already restricted and time consuming enough!
-
Bump! This shouldn't be an easy thing to get but it would definitely be worth it!

This is the longest post I almost read today.

Bumpity bump :)

Very well displayed and talked about. I support this idea

This would be cooler if this item could also effect kinetic legendaries

Yeah sure sounds cool

Hey Deej or Cozmo. This is a really good idea and one that I think may be able to be implemented. It probobly needs a few tweaks but this is a really good idea
-
5 OdpowiedziI would get a gjallahorn of each element
-
I read the first couple sentences and knew what your were talking about. I wish they would implement this, but could only change the existing element only once.
-
I think this is a wonderful idea. It would really challenge everyone who automatically uses up their exotic spot with gjallarhorn.
-
This would also encourage you not to just delete your favorite exotic so you can get all three element damage types of the same exotic. Also it would create differences in people's arsenal. Fatebringer wouldn't be guaranteed the best arc option anymore.
