Iron Banner is basically unplayable.
I've avoided getting into the "nerf this" "nerf that" debate...but Thorn has made the Iron Banner unplayable.
I just tried to play a handful of games and almost every single game 3/4 of the people were using Thorn.
Was looking forward to this IB, really wanted a Jolder's Hammer...but probably not going to even bother at this point.

*Edit 2: In response to a bunch of posts; I've tried changing up my load outs a bit, depending on the maps.
My main load out is on my Hunter atm. Red Death, Felwinter's Lie (HoW version), and Deviant Gravity-A.
The other three weapons I have been switching in and out are equipped on my Titan; Ill Will, Low Grade Humility and Ash Factory. All of the Legendary weapons, imo, have extremely good rolls and have been very helpful in leveling the playing field. This worked pretty well for me this morning when I got into a game of randoms (no full fire teams) or a game where half the team didn't leave before the game was half way over. The main reason I have been using the Deviant Gravity-A over the Ash Factory is to complete the Machine Lord bounty. I need to finish leveling the Ash Factory as I just got that a couple of days ago.

I admit I'm not good at crucible, but the lag is my main problem.

In all honesty if you want bungie to address this, the best way to go about it is just like the Suros Regime. Everyone use the weapon and soon Bungie will see this and remedy the problem. I would be surprised if they don't fix it soon.

I recently discovered that my Red Hand IX with explosive rounds can beat Thorn in a head to head gunfight.

2 OdpowiedziOnly thing thorn is good for are assists and post mortems. The last word is way better. Against good players using the last word, you will be Lucky to get two shots off from any gun. Tlw needs more of a nerf then thorn does

So many games today point blank shoot someone with a shotgun only for them to survive with 2mm of health left lol Best one earlier is I red deathed this warlock with clear head shots with about 7 bursts. Eventually he died while I was reloading and not even shooting anymore, then I shit you not 4-5 seconds later I died from his nova bomb that he didn't even use lol. Got the whole lot captured on the Xbox record feature.

Killed more thorn users than I traded kills with this entire Iron Banner. Theres actually 2 cheeses you can use to not die [spoiler]move after first hit[/spoiler] [spoiler]Headshot, they probably aren't[/spoiler]

I've seen otherwise, at least a 50% reduction in Thorn useage. A lot of red death, mida, messenger, a effing dregs pride which I'm still pissed got me. lol

Just use red death to counter thorn like, there done now you can play IB again.

Vex takes care of Thorn easy. Most players don't know how to us Thorn properly. Had a couple of guys shoot at me and run away thinking I'd die, then run after them and Vex their sorry ass haha.

IMO, Thorn should not have a longer range than Hawkmoon, and TLW hits from pretty far away also. It should be; TLW is good for close-range combat, Thorn should be close to mid-range, and Hawkmoon should be the only one with long-range stats.

3 OdpowiedziThe only reason I don't play iron banner is because I don't have a fireteam I can play with and when I come up against full teams than there is a quarenteed loss in the air for me. Thorn needs to be nerfed yes just lower the fire rate to the fire rate of the ill will that would make it a normal handcannon

There is also a hand cannon crucible bounty today...that might push people that way..i was using RD and NLB/Mida and then today i whipped out tlw and thorn for the bounty.

1 OdpowiedźLol......It's hilarious seeing post like this. I played for 3-4 hours last night. Saw and was killed by 3-5 people using a Thorn. I was killed more by the Red Death, Vex, The Last Word, Hawkmoon, LDR, Felwinter's and Matador. I seen more people using that Red Death this time and last time Iron Banner was around. The difference between the Thorn and the other weapons is.........the screen turns green. Makes it more noticeable by what you were shot by. Brings me to this little fun fact. Thorn was buffed 1 time. That was Dec 1st in the Exotic patch. From Dec 1st til the patch 2-3 months ago that made the Thorn's DoT noticeable, no one ever whined or complained like a 12 year child. As soon as Bungie patched in the green screen from the DoT, all heck broke loose with the kiddies. Basically complaining started when the DoT became visible. Yet, it has been the exact same weapon since Dec 1st.

I looked on the forums to see if thorn was nerfed. First day of IB I was dusting off my thorn and yet played the whole day getting negative k/d. Switched to red death and I'm back with 1.5 - 2+ k/d. It's working better for me right now.

I mean this sincerely. I've literally been playing IB all day... I've counted the thorns per match... Max 5 between 12 players... What Iron Banner are you people playing? I've seen more Hopscotch Pilgrim.
