Dear Bungie,
Playing in the Trials of Osiris is all fun and games until 3 "9-0 Lighthouse veterans comes in your way". As an average Destiny PVP player, it's kinda frustrating playing in the Trials of Osiris every weekend and ending up fighting players who are highly skilled in the said competitive multiplayer game mode. You may think that I'm just a noob here crying out FFS because I can't outgun those players. Well yeah, I'm a bit noob but think of it, if you really want players to enjoy ToO why not make it a "real competitive multiplayer experience" for all of us? Here's my suggestion:
1. Put skill-based matchmaking on top of connectivity-based matchmaking in the Trials of Osiris. Why? because why not. Come on, let the newbies learn in the Trials of Osiris in a much acceptable way. Think of it, it's no longer fun playing a game knowing that your skills are 5 levels above your opponent's skills. Besides, there's only a few who learns after being beaten for a lot of time for most of them quit. Help us learn playing PVP in a better way.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
BlindMonk_ee

06/30/2015 UPDATE:
1. Make regular Elimination available 24/7
2. Match make based on skill/current record. If you had to play fellow guardians who were still undefeated on their cards it would be a way bigger challange. Two 8-0 teams always have to sqaure off for flawless? Now thats competition
- D1rtyViking
Keep the salt coming!

Edytowany przez użytkownika KissOfDeath7242: 7/1/2015 5:18:20 PMI posted about this and the problem isn't matching it's the mentality of the REALLY good players they have this "guard the lighthouse thinking I say yes play for fun but to Anyone playing to deny others is stupid Solution: give the try hard villains something to do THERE BORED and I would be too if I had a team of flawless guys I ran with practiced with and probably know outside of destiny. I say give the option for flawless players that week to play other flawless players to see who the real badasses are. Maybe make a game mode only accessible in the light house.
-
2 OdpowiedziWhat the should do is implement this : If a player has went flawless to the light house...then said said player should be timed out until the reset. This way they can't continue running flawless and carrying others through. One trip quit is what it needs to be so all players have a chance.
-
Actually it would have been better if Trials had its own unique set of maps in rotation. The real advantage is not gun skill it's more map knowledge. The key to winning trials is learning the map and the choke points Skill based matchmaking wouldn't work imo
-
Skill based matchmaking would just cause reverse boosting and I personally think trials is all about proving you're the best against anyone you get matched up against.
-
4 OdpowiedziHow to make it more competitive just take out exotic primary weapons
-
2 OdpowiedziPlaying only low skill players it's not competitive, never knowing who you are going to end up against makes it a challenge....
-
6 OdpowiedziI also think once you go flawless on a character you shouldn't be let back in. It'll definitely help. And youtubers and twitchers will stop carrying nubes through
-
Take heavy round completely out of this mode to make it more competitive.
-
So u want to play bad players the whole way through because you lose to cordinated teams that's foolish if you want bad kids wait till Monday or Sunday night to play
-
You are addressing a real issue here but your solution would do nothing because facing people of similar skill would make your path to the lighthouse to easy. Perhaps there is some other solution to this.

18 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika KKorrupt: 6/30/2015 8:58:33 PMThat simply wouldn't work, at least not if going flawless means the lighthouse. Why? Trials of Osiris is all about separating the best of the best Destiny PvP players from the rest. Only the best teams make the Lighthouse, everyone else has to keep trying. If you were to introduce skill-based matchmaking in Trials of Osiris, you would also have to introduce leagues of skill (let's say Diamond League, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, etc) where only the people that go flawless in the highest skill league advance to the lighthouse. Perhaps going flawless in a lower skill league will advance you to the next league but you won't unlock Mercury until you go flawless in the highest skill league. If Trials of Osiris matchmaking is skill-based and a league system isn't implemented where only the winners of the toughest league unlock Mercury then literally every player, good or bad will make Flawless eventually since they're only facing people of equal skill. This defeats the point of Trials, since it's supposed to separate the best PvP players from the rest Tl;dr: Trials of Osiris separates the best PvP players and teams of Destiny from the rest. If a skill-based matchmaking system were implemented without leagues where ONLY going flawless in the HIGHEST SKILL LEAGUE unlocks Mercury, then players and teams of all calibers will be reaching the Lighthouse. That defeats the point.

15 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Knives: 6/30/2015 7:10:35 PM1. That's not making things more competitive, that's making things near impossible. If you're matched up evenly with another team...then your chance of winning/losing is affectively 50/50. Now take that and calculate statistically your chance of reaching the lighthouse (7 wins minimum) = 0.78% which means 7 players out of 1000 will make it to lighthouse. 2. Your method is also subject to abuse. I can easily delete a character and level him up to level 20, equip the items and voila...a KD of 0. I'll go in trials and just wreck all you noobs! or I could just hand the controller to my dog and let him crucible a few matches and then play trials with a .25KD and really wreck everyone lol. 3. The only thing is to lock trials after you've gone 9-0 so there's no potential for griefing players or after 9-0, you unlock a champions arena where only 9-0s face off each other and locked out of normal trials. However, the issue is with people cheating their way to lighthouse and then cheat there (the champion league) to grief the hardcore players.

I don't play a lot of PvP and so far, I've only played Trials twice. The first week I tried, got completely wrecked by better teams who had better tactics. Won only 1 match in about 7-8. (We sucked) Second week I tried got 3 wins on one ticket and 2 on another but never got to finish that ticket. Still not amazing, but there was a positive improvement. The matches we lost were much more closely contested that time too. One of our wins we came back from 4-2 down to win; each round was nail-bitingly close and just winning that one match was immensely satisfying. Getting to the lighthouse isn't a gimme... It's not supposed to be something that everyone can do. I want to get there, but I don't want the game to only match me against players my level to make it easier for me. You don't get better by playing against people your own level, you get better by playing against people who are better than you and learning from them. I may never make it to the lighthouse, but if I do, I want the satisfaction of knowing that I made it without having Bungie make it easier for me to do so

Omg dude, you realize if you put skill based match making in top of priority for connectivity you're gonna have a baaaaad time right? Please delete your post and just know that you have it good right now.

5 Odpowiedzi3 Ways to improve ToO 1: You only fight people with the same number of loses as your team. 2:Eliminate the use of exotic weapons and armor during ToO. 3: Score card reduced to 8 wins, if you go 8-0 you have to fight another 8-0 team to see who goes to the lighthouse and who goes home crying.
-
6 OdpowiedziAre you complaining about not getting to the lighthouse or are you complaining because you just want to play elimination and you just lose most games? If you're complaining about not going to the lighthouse, that's the whole point. The best of the best go there. If you're complaining because you just want to play elimination, then I agree with you. For the life of me I don't understand how they believe they can only have 4 playlists active at once if there game is so successful. Halo reach probably still has more playlists available and way fewer players! I agree that there should be skill based matchmaking as well for everything except for trials and maybe iron banner. Clearly the proximity based matchmaking doesn't do a good job reducing lag and everyone wants to play close games against equal opponents. The reason skill based matchmaking should be excluded from trials is that if my skill rank is 2 and I go flawless against other level 2 players while someone who's skill rank is 20 doesn't go flawless even tho he is actually way better. It'd also bring in lots of derankers and new accounters trying to get match against the worst people.

If you wanna practice trials, play skirmish or elimination.

3 OdpowiedziIts cool that Destiny have some event that cant be cheesed by self-claimed "pve-players". So dont touch Trials. Fix PvP balance, but its another topic to discuss.
-
Would really lead to much longer matchmaking times later in the weekend. Especially late on into the weekend and would infact make it harder for average/below average players to make the lighthouse. How would the matchmaking also work out? Especially when many of us carry people through each weekend? We would end up against a team of 3 half decent while carrying the dead weight of our team. Would not be balanced on skill. Either way, something must happen, but I disagree that average players would get an easier run with skill based matchmaking. Look at regular crucible, it isn't exactly balanced skill wise.

1 OdpowiedźTrials should be rumble. On your own, that would show the truly skilled players. That way no can be carried.
-
>op wants to make trials more competitive >suggests they make it less competitive.
-
I believe they should input a Inferno type thing in there so players won't be able to see where the enemy team is coming from, making the choices and gameplay more competitive rather than just looking at the radar for constant help. Another thing is burning effect of the Thorn. I don't car a about it's DPS or its range or anything. I just want the burning effect to immediately go away after the a thorn user is dead Therefore canceling the burning effect. All that and more should make the experience more competitive in my eyes
