The biggest problem I have with Thorn is its DoT effect.
Personally I think it should be removed from PvP altogether, but of course that isn't going to happen.
Now the problem with it is that after you get shot with Thorn you have to wait for the burn to finish burning you before you can wait for your shields to start recharging. This really slows down gameplay. By the time your shields start recharging, another person who was hurt by a non-DoT weapon already has their shields back. Giving Thorn an advantage over literally every other weapon in the game. Besides grenades, melees, and supers.
So here's my solution: Keep the same DoT effect but make the shield recharge time start right after you're shot, rather than after you're done burning. Given the average shield recharge time, your shield should start recharging about as soon at Thorn's DoT effect is over

no use reddeath and encounter it

Make dot work like luck in the chamber, and also if the thorn user (or grenades that burn) is killed, then the burn should stop. Warlock grenades are, in my opinion, more annoying than thorn, even though I do use them lol. Or they could just lessen the dot down to where it would require two headshots with thorn to kill you or shorten the duration of dot so the shields have a chance to recharge (I don't know the exact numbers, but it almost feels like it takes 2-3 times as long for shields to recharge when you get hit by dot). Obviously some people who are religious thorn users won't like that but pvp is too unbalanced right now. Ttks are very fast (cod fast) and for this game to become as competitive as other games (like halo) the ttks need an actual gunfight not just who saw who first (in most cases, some people just suck and you can whip around and kill them lol). I love crucible, I'm pretty good at it, but it definitely needs some balancing.

I would prefer a nerf like the dot only works when you headshot someone, no dot for bodyshot

6 OdpowiedziAll they have to do is make dot work like luck in the chamber. Problem fixed

Or you chose reduce the fire rate. The DoT is the gun.. Why would you take the gun and its history away. Shit half the time my DoT doesn't even work. Two ticks for 7 damage and it stops. Also is everybody blind to the gun that rekts thorn?! The Last Word is insanely OP which is the reason I'm leveling mine up! Don't even aim and you'll get increased precision damage. And the fire rate is through the roof. It has the last word of all hand cannons. ....although my hawkmoon still kicks ass and makes me squak like a hawk when I get a kill with it
-
Lol your final idea is good but you're talking about revamping the shield system entirely lol I hate to say it but that'll take a huge amount of time.

I like this

6 OdpowiedziIt's rate of fire in my opinion!, if you nurf it then it'll become a skillful opponent, unlike it current standing where everyone uses because it gets you kills..

2 OdpowiedziStatic damage is OP or UP Static damage is worthless or unfair Right now it's unfair. Anywhere you hit a person from any range you hit a static amount plus normal weapon damage. In a FPS there should be no static damage. It makes "range" irrelevant. Shoot someone from 5000 yards and it does 1 bullet damage and 1/4th of the pvp Heath damage in static damage. It's a joke. Remove the DoT and add -prevent recovery for X" tLdR: replace the damage over time with 'reduce recovery speed X' If the new shotgun can increase recovery speed, it makes sense that you can decrease it as well. It still helps out thorn users. (Just look at the entire new subclass of hunter, it's going to be basically the support class of the game). It will still help the team, but it'll stop being so OP.

*Picture above is Thorn's stats pre-buff and post-buff* Before the Exotic buff Thorn was used by a very small crowd due to all of the weaknesses the weapon had. The thing is, those weaknesses in my opinion were what kept Thorn a balanced weapon. When I heard of them planning out some Exotic buffs, I was extremely worried they were going to get rid of ALL of the weaknesses and instead leave a weapon that has little to no drawbacks. What I personally think Bungie should do, is they should revert one or two of the buffs Thorn got during the Exotic buff patch. These things are listed below: •Stability increased to 41 from 22. Previously Thorn had actual recoil if you didn't use Perfect Balance. This recoil made it difficult to spray opponents down accurately and required patience between shots. The main counter to this was using Perfect Balance, but at that point you are giving up the long-range potential and aim-assistance gained through using Send It. Thorn was either deadly accurate at the medium ranges, or kicked like a mule but hit like a truck at longer distances. This was a valid weakness and in my opinion didn't need to be changed. •Reload Speed increased to 43 from 16. This was the main thing players complained about. Thorn had a painfully long reload speed which meant that every time you wanted to reload, or were forced into it, Thorn would have a long downtime before you could go back in to the fight. Being caught out while reloading meant certain death, and this was a weakness to compensate for how strong the weapon was while it was in use. if you weren't accurate and expended your magazine carelessly, you were out of the fight for being so careless. Personally I'm okay with this buff and I don't think it needs to be reverted. •Magazine Size increased to 9 from 6. This was the lesser complaint players had, which was further emphasized by how slow the Reload Speed was. Thorn would get you three kills at maximum before you had to endure the painful reload. You wanted to ensure you made your magazine count, but now that is a thing of the past. You have enough bullets for four normally, or five if they're already weak, before you have to go through Thorn's decent reload time. I'd be in support for this one being reverted as well.

Nothing wrong with the thorn. Not many used it when auto rifles were relevant, solution buff the auto rifles to its former glory. Nerfing thorn or tampering with it will just force players to use last word, in which there will be as many last words compared to thorn

6 OdpowiedziThorn wasn't a problem when auto rifles were relevant zzz

4 OdpowiedziRemove almost all aim assist. Cut reload by a third. Reduce mag to 7. Done. Skillful weapon that will perform amazingly for those with the required skill. Everyone else should find a new crutch

Main issues is the alternatives got nerfed.

IT DOESNT NEED A FIXXXXXXXXXX

Decrease the DoT and its range. Easy peasy. It's still awesome but it's not ridiculously so.

10 OdpowiedziThorn's DoT is meh. Counterplay exists via Hungering Blade, Disintegrate, and Life Steal. Shotgun + Melee and you'll have no issues, or you can just play close with TLW and Double Tap + Melee. If your just plain good, you can out gun Thorn with most any other decent Exotic. I do it all the time with Bad Juju.

1 OdpowiedźEdytowany przez użytkownika cabinny00: 6/20/2015 7:18:44 PMThe only true way to balance out weapons in pvp would be static load outs across all play types (excepting end game). You choose from a selection of items prior to play. The weapons would have perk selection at selection screen so you could customize to play style. Armor would be the same but have a cap on stats like 200 total. This would lessen the equipment gap and highlight the skill gap imo.
-
How I'd "nerf" all the hand cannons: remove aim assist. It'll take actual skill to land your shots, so people will stop complaining.
-
3 OdpowiedziYou don't understand PvP balance Stop commenting on it. If they nerf thorn TLW, would just take its place If they nerf that Hawkmoon would If they nerf that Red death and the messenger If ther nerf those high RoF pulses take over Endlessly nerfing solves nothing
-
DoT is not the problem The problem is its complete lack of situational use. No gun should be an optimal choice and any range
-
5 OdpowiedziEveryone who fails to see thorn as unbalanced and in no need of a nerf aren't seeing the real issue or don't play clash or control enough. When 5 out of 6 randoms on the enemy team are using thorn, how is that balanced? It's game breaking. Hiding and waiting for health regen half the game also changes the dynamics entirely.

1 OdpowiedźI like my idea better: DoT only activates on headshots, and deactivates for five seconds with a body shot. That way, its a reward for shot placement and not gravy for a plate of bullet spam.

1 OdpowiedźJust cause u get killed by it don't mean you have to ruin it just like tall ruined auto rifles grind your ass off doing bounties and get one I earned mine and would like to keep being able to use it when I feel the need to be a try hard in trials
