Destiny has opened my eyes...

...and has shown me how boring and monotonous it really is. You might think [i]"Nah m8, Destiny is amazing wot you on fgt?"[/i] and to that I say break it down. Break down Destiny to what it really is. You fight the same enemies that look slightly different. Do the fallen on Earth act differently compared to the ones on the moon? No! They are different colours and exactly the same. [i]"But they have new enemies called the taken in the new expansion"[/i]. [b]No they don't![/b] Their use of the "story" behind the taken is just a pathetic excuse to reuse the assets they already have in the game. "But BungieVision gives a new areas to explore with new DLCs". Right. Okay keep telling yourself that lie. Everything they bring out as "story" is played on the same path you have played a hundred times over. [b]But woah! It's backwards! HOW ORIGINAL![/b] If they actually put thought into new areas and "story telling" it might, [b]might[/b], be worthy of $5. But $20 each?? Pffft no. Terrible value. [i]"But it has raids and strikes and new multiplayer maps as well as new weapons".[/i] Okay granted that raids are good, even though they are laggy and glitchy. But onto strikes, oh boy. Let's fight some enemies we've already fought a million times to get to a boss that is a [b]bigger enemy we've fought already on the way there![/b] Instead of an actual [b]original[/b] design of a boss, Bungie thought [i]"We need an enemy that would put players to the test. I know, why don't we make a boss that looks the same as the enemies we've already made and give it an unnecessarily large amount of health. That'll test their skills"[/i]. Right. The enemies surrounding the boss are more threatening than the boss itself. Why not put raid-like mechanics for the fight? Oh that's right, that takes work and Bungie runs at the sight of work. Now onto weapons. The only original ideas of weapons are exotics. All Legendaries are re skinned weapons that have been around since day 1. The only unique weapons are shitty rare weapons that are useless because of their attack. With the addition of Ascension, why even use other Legendaries? Need a PvE primary? Oh I can ascend my Fatebringer, I don't need anything else. Boom! Just from ascending, Legendaries have become useless when you have the best ones. Instead of leaving it behind, you just bring it with you. It honestly amazing how people forgot what happens at E3 2014 for destiny. Go back and watch it and you'll see how hard we have been butt banged by BungieVision. [b]Taken King gameplay can be seen in it!![/b] What the actual -Blam!-! Granted PvP is pretty good despite being the most unreliable multiplayer mode I have ever played. The reason people are [i]"in love with this game"[/i] is because you are addicted. Destiny is a giant casino. You can gamble your chances at the gunsmith. What about random drop in crucible? Yep, gambling. Anything that uses the Random-Number-Generator (RNG) is gambling. You are an addict. I know because I played. I have been in a place where you most likely have been where you're just sitting in tower not sure what to do but not wanting to get off. I have been there. Ask yourself this: when the people used the loot cave at the beginning of the game, that meant that Destiny was worse than or equal to shooting enemies in a hole in the wall, right? So I ended up running the daily mission that I have already done multiple times. I do think the only way I could stop playing destiny would be to destroy the disc. If anything Day oners should get the weapons/class items. We were there when the cryptard gave greens for purples. We were there for the loot issues. We were there through the glitchy raids, the 5 slot bounties, and the meager vault space increase. The failed commendations, the unbalanced (still) weapons, the useless gunsmith. Tell me why people joining a year after the fact get more content and bonuses for $75 when we've dropped more than $100 in some cases. We get no HoW raid. Only one new grenade per subclass, no new jumps. PlayStation gets ANOTHER year of exclusives. As for its MMO "elements" all it has are an MMO's grind. Mark caps, rep grinds, raid loot only once a week. Outside of the grind it contains nothing MMO like. With the blockbuster game list coming soon, fvck destiny. There is and will continue to be better games.... Titanfall has more content than this... So, unless something changes in how they view veteran players. I will continue to not play destiny. I'll keep on the forums to see if they change before TTK, but I'll nothold my breath. Incoherent rant over[/spoiler] Post below if you think you can prove me wrong. You are the first to give me a legitimate praise for a concept in the game. This user said that the shooting mechanics and setting (scenery?) are fantastic. And I agree, especially with the SkyBox.   • I like the game. If you don't like it I suggest you stop playing it and move on. Posting your opinion in a wall of text on these forums isn't going to change anyone's mind. Where yes they are rehashed assets, they are done in a way that propels the story forward without making it too complex. We are seeing tiers of darkness, and it's only getting bleaker. "Everything they bring out as "story" is played on the same path you have played a hundred times over." Sir, have you played Skyrim? There is a reason they put fast travel in the game. You travel to the same few cities over and over again. Sure you can explore little corners, but for the most part most of the game revolves around Whiterun or other Hold capitals. That said, have you ever played a FPS bsides Destiny? Want to talk about linear, they focus exclusively on PvP. "But woah! It's backwards! HOW ORIGINAL!" Where yes, some are larger versions of others, a lot of them have unique perks to tham that make them actually challenging and make you think about what you're doing. Instead of leaving it behind, you just bring it with you." Didn't people complain about gear becoming obsolete... Now we are complaining that it's still around? Cough cough, BF4 launch... some maps guaranteed the game to freeze. Then let's go to CoD BO1 where if the host was mad, he'd quit and the game ended. No warning, just ended. Then there is Halo 4 which was notorious for black screens, and finally Halo MCC which has a barely functioning multiplayer that was completely broken at launch. So your comment just told me that you are an incredibly ignorant gamer that thinks your problems are worse than other game communities. "The reason people are "in love with this game" is because you are addicted." What about for a challenge? Go flawless in a raid. I did that last night. I already had the achievement, I just decided to say -blam!- it and help a team do it. It was fun, it was frustrating, it was satisfying when completed. Not everything is about a gamble. The loot cave was popular because it was discovered at a point in the game where most players were not high enough level to play the raids or the nightfall. Most players that participated in said event were stuck between levels 24 and 27. Bungie has even remedied this. Gear can now be bought from the vanguard that propels players far enough along to play almost all end game content and hold a decent advantage. You know what he has done, you know why you are hunting him, and you take him down. Destiny was a horrible grind. Most of that grind is gone now. Bungie has made the game considerably more convenient for the average player, and has made the game more rewarding for the exceptional players. Destiny is an evolving experience and we are here for the ride. If you want to know Destiny's future, look into Bungie's past. Destiny has more ingame story than Halo CE, and that game was considered amazing. Remember, Cortana once said (About a million times as I replayed the same missions) "This tunnel is not a natural formation, that means it must lead somewhere". She was looking into a forerunner tunnel, and all I can think of now is "no shit cortana, I never would have guessed". Beyond poplar belief, Bungie has never been amazing at story telling, they leave it vague enough to fill in the gaps later after they figure out what people bite on to.

  • I more or less agree with you except on two things. 1: Almost all video game play is repetition. I greatly enjoy shooting stuff, even replaying the VoG. It's all of the teri-bad schemes to overcharge on something grossly underdeveloped that gets to me. 2: The Loot Cave was the single most social tool Bungie ever developed. That was where I first populated my friends list with people from outside R/L. It was a place to hang out after finishing bounties and chat. For a brief time it required all kinds of teamwork within FT and with randoms. I think it's greatest value to Destiny was the forewarning on the piss-poor Loot System.

  • "...Just sitting in the tower not sure what to do but not wanting to get off" Hit the nail on the head. Once you do everything you 'need' to do (Nightfalls, weeklies, sometimes bounties) there's nothing left [i]to[/i] do. Crucible maybe but after a few rounds of playing with elitists with Thorns it gets tedious. And most people forget to think "I've spent $100 for this feeling."

          • I think I read the first sentence because I don't like reading these posts, no offense of course, there's just so many of the same things (which is why I see your point), I just think, hey, if you enjoy playing the game then continue playing it, if you don't, that's fine too, move on to games that you enjoy more!

Destroyed riksis the winter kell and decimated the house of winter. Destroyed the nexus mind controlling the vex on the surface of venus. Destroyed an archon priest before it was restored from cryogenic slumber. Went to mars and found the gate to the blac garden. Killed primus shau'ull and charged our gatelords eye for entry to the garden. Found rasputins link to the buried city. Broke the link on the cabal chain of command in the land tank on mars. Went to the black garden and destroyed its heart, healing the traveler and becoming legend in the tower...Only to raid the vault of glass and destroy the conflux of time hidden in the core of venus. With the dlcs/ Met eris morn, the last to face crota. We killed sardon the fist of crota. Defended rasputin from being controlled by hive. Destroyed crotas portal crystal and saved earth from being taken over. Hunted down omnigul to ensure crotas will could not be achieved... Went into the pit of the hellmouth and the realm of oryx to destroy crota once and for all... Met petra venj, the queens blade. Variks the loyal, Scribe of the house of wolves and court of the fallen, Met brother vance who is a disciple of osiris and every weekend gives is trials to go through for amazing loot. Stopped skolas from cotrolling the house of winter. Hunted down the silent fang outside the cosmodrome walls before they could infiltrate and strengthen the pack. Went after the house of kings and wolves barons to stop an alliance. Went back into the vault of glass to stop the fallen from controlling time itself freely without vex portals. Captured skolas and got called a mote of light from the queen. Raided and killed skolas and every prisoner in the prison of elders. So far we have gone through so much guardians! Oryx is coming for us, we are not yet ready... Fight.. Train, become better. Because he is coming for us... And not even the tower can keep us safe, not even the reef...                 Very true lol haven't played this game in 2 weeks now because I'd rather rip my arms than go through the same monotonous bs [spoiler]You're all lying to yourselves if you don't think this game is boring..... even with friends[/spoiler] edit: only thing to spark that fire again would be them actually fixing PvP

                    • Good post, and spot on. I agree with you. Way I see it if people are happy playing this and thinking its awesome then let them, if they want to pay for content that they think is new and is a completely over priced scam then let them, its their money and none of my business. What is telling is how they try to compare the price of DLC to a steak that lasts half an hour, or a trip to the movies. Notice how they never compare DLC to Dlc for instance, because deep down they know its crap value but they are on the hook. You cant convince these people, they are hooked and like a junkie whose best friend and worst enemy is their dealer Activision and Bungie are their dealers, and they wont go against their dealer. They are blind to the non story, the nonsensical storyline of "Oh no, look you've hacked off Crota's Dad .. Run Guardian !!", there is no story in this game. Its just a repetitive horde mode based on an RNG wheel. Same format for everything. The same people sitting thinking Destiny is awesome are the same ones who sit at one armed bandits pumping money into them, there is no hope for them. Destiny is good for about an hour a week to do the Nightfall, heroic and bounties, anymore than that and you're just a hamster in a wheel repeating things over and over. Bungie and Activision will get no more of my money, thats OUR power. Give them nothing. Its the only way to get our message across. I took the money I had saved on my PSN account and bought Middle Earth : Shadow of Mordor with the extra DLC included and if anyone says to me that The Taken King is better value than that then they are deluded quite frankly. Been playing it for a day or so and its brilliant, large open world with lots to do, at least 40 hours of DIFFERENT things to do. In Destiny we are still being fed the same bounties we had when the game launched. Lots of great games coming out worthy of your money, I'm looking forward to Nathan Drake Collection, Fallout 4, Just Cause 3, Star Wars Battlefront and next year Uncharted 4. I will still play Destiny occasionally until September, but once TTK comes out and I will be shut out of things like Nightfalls etc etc because I wont buy their recycled dross it will be finished for me.
