In this post i will attempt to do what many others have tried before me - Try to reason with the Destiny forums and talk about the OP weapons in PvP. And PLEASE make an attempt to read it. I have over 70 days played at this point and 3000 hours played on my Xbox time tracker. I have gone 9-0 and went to the Lighthouse and i am not starting this post because i am "salty". I have kept my mouth shut mostly, but something needs to be done.
Lets face it. 90%+ of every PvP player is using one of these weapons and YOU most likely are too.
And it REALLY says something when almost EVERY SINGLE team you go against in the Trials Of Osiris is using one of these weapons!
Now i'm not blaming anyone for using them, honestly you really have no choice but to use them at some points.
But people really need to understand just how game breaking these weapons are. For instance there are hundreds and hundreds of guns. Why am i limited to using only 4? The weapon balance in Destiny probably has the worst effective to innefective i have ever witnessed. Just ask yourself why you see literally every single person in the Trials use them. The answer is simple; because they are more effective than everything else!
To further give you an example lets take a look at every weapon in Destiny(that i can remember, i might miss a few)that is second rate but SHOULD be as effective as the the top 4 exotics used.

And thats all i care to name at the moment. Point is, you cannot use ANY of these weapons without being put at a disadvantage by ONLY 4 WEAPONS!
Now lets tackle some logics used by many players who don't seem to think the top OP guns at the moment don't need a debuff.

"They are Exotics, they are supposed to be superior to all legendaries" logic.
Ok, what about...
Necrochasm
No Land Beyond
Hardlight
Monte Carlo
Universal Remote
They are Exotic, atleast if these weapons were also OP it would broaden the equally effective weapons list... Sadly however, they are not.
"If you nerf the already OP guns, a new set of OP guns will just take their place" logic.
Think of it like this: The current OP weapons are the best of the best as of right now. Nerf them and the next set will be at the very least less OP. At the very least you are allowing more primaries breathing room nerfing the current OP PvP weapons. It could only help, not hurt.
"If i use Thorn and my enemy uses Thorn, isn't skill the only thing determining who is better?" logic.
Sure! But what if you vs someone with your exact same skill, perfectly matched uses Hardlight while you use Thorn? Who wins then? If you answered in your head "probably the guy using Thorn" well, you would be right! The person using Hardlight is at a disadvantage whether you admit it or not. Admit it: In trials you would never use a Hardlight and be as effective as you using Thorn. As much as it pains me to say... Guns get kills as of now in Destiny, NOT skill. That might not be you want to hear but unfortunately it seems to be the case via 90% of users in Trials use Vex, Thorn, LW or Red Death... You know its true, just look at every thread dedicated to helping teams get good in ToO, they all say to use these weapons and FOR A REASON.
Also something that must be looked at as how unfair it is in PvP to someone who does now own any of the OP weapons. If we debuffed them new players could be much better off using their legendaries or dare i even say rares. As it is now we are closing off new to PvP players because they are simply outgunned. Why do you think so many players hate PvP?
I have tried to reason with the community here. If you agree or you can relate to any of this please like this so we can get the community to hopefully open their eyes and stop the "git gud" and "shut up, meg" responses whenever someone starts a thread on one of these OP guns. The sooner the weapons are balanced the better!

Exotics should absolutely not be nerfed. So many people (pretty much everyone) forgets that the real gameplay is PvE, crucible is just practice to make Gaurdians better, and it is fun. That being said, it would be quite interesting if ToO did not allow exotic weapons or armor. You can good great legendary weapons, even if you have to roll it till you find it to be perfect. I have a Fulcrum from future war cult that I use in the crucible. I prefer to use legendary primaries and special weapons because it forces me to be slightly more cautious over using my last word or thorn. I have legendary weapons specifically rolled for PvP, I enjoy using them and would love to see what would happen if there were no exotics in a type of PvP match. Just remember, no weapons need to be nerfed, crucible is practice. Trials however are a great test of teamwork.

13 OdpowiedziRed death beats thorn. Thorn beats vex. Vex beats tlw. Tlw beats red death. Balance.
-
2 OdpowiedziIn my opinion, the most balanced gun in the game is MIDA. Purely because if you can't use it, you won't do well. If you can use it, you can do well. That's how it should be.
-
1 OdpowiedźSoon you will need to add queenbreakers bow and lord of wolves to that list :P
-
Nothing needs to be done about Red Death or the Mythoclast. The two handcannons on the other hand...
-
1 OdpowiedźOr you could stop crying and just play the game
-
How about Bungie just adds an optional "no exotic weapon" playlists?

1 OdpowiedźYou obviously never encountered a pre nerf-buff mythoclast...anyways the mythoclast is really only used by player that have been here since the first few months of the game, the rest don't even see a point in VoG

Edytowany przez użytkownika Blonded: 5/30/2015 11:16:00 PMThorn is harder to use than hard light. The last word is harder to use than Suros. The guns reward skill, if you think the guns are winning games then why can I drop an entire team of thorn/TLW users with a legendary hand cannon? Skill. Mythoclast needs a nerf but that is already well known. There is absolutely no reason that there shouldn't be top tier guns that perform better than others when mastered. Why should rares or legendaries have the right to compete with exotics? And the easier to use exotics shouldn't drop people as fast as the harder to use weapons.
-
If you Nerf Thorn may as well downgrade it to legendary. It would be waste of an exotic slot.
-
If they need them it should be for PvP only because none of those 4 are really worth using in PvE as it is
-
5 OdpowiedziI'd say Red Death is the less OP of the group, but nonetheless I agree with you. I am also glad that there are 4 OP weapons to chose from, because just one would really suck. Also, there ARE alternatives to those weapons. For example, my buddy was using a VoC with an Icebreaker and did some work with that combo.

1 OdpowiedźAgree 100% the only primaries I will use in crucible are vex, hawkmoon, red death, and vision of confluence.
-
8 OdpowiedziThis is entirely wrong. This game has a meta and those weapons are currently it. Dont nerf them buff other weapons up to their level if anything. There is nothing wrong with having a select few weapons that are the best in class for PvP EVERY GAME HAS THAT. You complaining that those weapons dominate PvP is the same as saying legendaries dominate PvE. You need to use the right tool for the right job. Blues dont cut it in raid. Why should legendaries cut it in PvP? Again there is nothing wrong with 4 or 5 primary weapons dominating crucible. If it was just one then ya its an issue, but 5 is more than enough.
-
8 OdpowiedziYou've obviously never played an online game before. There are weapons that are just plain better than others so of course they're going to be used.
-
You need to get your NLB skills up playa
-
3 OdpowiedziI'd call you a scrub, but I'm too tired to state the obvious today.
-
Why nerf? Why not buff other weapons.
-
Don't you love how people make these long ass forums on here? Like do U have nothing to do lol

OP is dumb

1 OdpowiedźI think your vision of all weapons being balanced is nice but deeply unrealistic especially in a game that won't separate it's PvP from it's PVE. If they nerf the weapons you listed all of PvP will be using 5 different guns within a week and everyone will be crying about those just like when everyone was upset about Vex and Suros. Lowering the water level just reveals new peaks and people are always going to seek an advantage, it would be silly not to. The fact that some of the exotics are niche weapons or even novelties doesn't mean the rest shouldn't completely outclass legendaries, I think they should or else there is no point in even having exotic weapons. If hey put in a legendary only playlist that would be super, I wouldn't use it personally but it would make the your exotic is unfair crowd happy. The crucible is no place for mercy and balance is a myth.

5 OdpowiedziTL; DR. Shut up.

Edytowany przez użytkownika higgybunch: 5/30/2015 3:01:25 PMI just disagree with your 90%. I think fewer than that use them. In fact I know fewer than that use them. But because we are so sensitive to getting killed by these OP weapons, we immediately register and remember those kills and forget about all the other weapons we were killed by. Imo we need stats from people on what weapons are used in crucible most often.

1 OdpowiedźNerfs got us here in the first place. More nerfs arent the answer...we should reverse the changes of 1.1.1...the one that killed auto and fusion rifles. More options are the answer, not less.
