In this post i will attempt to do what many others have tried before me - Try to reason with the Destiny forums and talk about the OP weapons in PvP. And PLEASE make an attempt to read it. I have over 70 days played at this point and 3000 hours played on my Xbox time tracker. I have gone 9-0 and went to the Lighthouse and i am not starting this post because i am "salty". I have kept my mouth shut mostly, but something needs to be done.
Lets face it. 90%+ of every PvP player is using one of these weapons and YOU most likely are too.
And it REALLY says something when almost EVERY SINGLE team you go against in the Trials Of Osiris is using one of these weapons!
Now i'm not blaming anyone for using them, honestly you really have no choice but to use them at some points.
But people really need to understand just how game breaking these weapons are. For instance there are hundreds and hundreds of guns. Why am i limited to using only 4? The weapon balance in Destiny probably has the worst effective to innefective i have ever witnessed. Just ask yourself why you see literally every single person in the Trials use them. The answer is simple; because they are more effective than everything else!
To further give you an example lets take a look at every weapon in Destiny(that i can remember, i might miss a few)that is second rate but SHOULD be as effective as the the top 4 exotics used.

And thats all i care to name at the moment. Point is, you cannot use ANY of these weapons without being put at a disadvantage by ONLY 4 WEAPONS!
Now lets tackle some logics used by many players who don't seem to think the top OP guns at the moment don't need a debuff.

"They are Exotics, they are supposed to be superior to all legendaries" logic.
Ok, what about...
Necrochasm
No Land Beyond
Hardlight
Monte Carlo
Universal Remote
They are Exotic, atleast if these weapons were also OP it would broaden the equally effective weapons list... Sadly however, they are not.
"If you nerf the already OP guns, a new set of OP guns will just take their place" logic.
Think of it like this: The current OP weapons are the best of the best as of right now. Nerf them and the next set will be at the very least less OP. At the very least you are allowing more primaries breathing room nerfing the current OP PvP weapons. It could only help, not hurt.
"If i use Thorn and my enemy uses Thorn, isn't skill the only thing determining who is better?" logic.
Sure! But what if you vs someone with your exact same skill, perfectly matched uses Hardlight while you use Thorn? Who wins then? If you answered in your head "probably the guy using Thorn" well, you would be right! The person using Hardlight is at a disadvantage whether you admit it or not. Admit it: In trials you would never use a Hardlight and be as effective as you using Thorn. As much as it pains me to say... Guns get kills as of now in Destiny, NOT skill. That might not be you want to hear but unfortunately it seems to be the case via 90% of users in Trials use Vex, Thorn, LW or Red Death... You know its true, just look at every thread dedicated to helping teams get good in ToO, they all say to use these weapons and FOR A REASON.
Also something that must be looked at as how unfair it is in PvP to someone who does now own any of the OP weapons. If we debuffed them new players could be much better off using their legendaries or dare i even say rares. As it is now we are closing off new to PvP players because they are simply outgunned. Why do you think so many players hate PvP?
I have tried to reason with the community here. If you agree or you can relate to any of this please like this so we can get the community to hopefully open their eyes and stop the "git gud" and "shut up, meg" responses whenever someone starts a thread on one of these OP guns. The sooner the weapons are balanced the better!

Outgunned? Majority don't use these exotics from the many many matches i play I use legendary primaries too, many cry because its not a horizontal shooter and can't handle a diff playstyle with this many variables at once. U can do great without them, but of course it would be more difficult in certain ranges Not many multi games even allow this many guns to be useful at once which a good thing on its own, except the thorn; broken af They would need to look at all guns/gun classes to fix them properly and not only the ones u mentioned. Screw these guns over and 2 shot pulse rifles which are very easy to use will dominate everything making range and variety in gunfights a much bigger joke than whats currently going on

9-0 no mercy using Allfate, a 365 judgement and radeghasts fury. What say ye?

3 OdpowiedziI think that instead of all these calls for nerfs (especially for thorn) they should instead bring the other weapons up to par

6 OdpowiedziMy response, be grateful. Look at Call of Duty for example. In the first month to month and a half the only good gun was the Bal all the way after the first MLG tournament. Everyone used that weapon! Now there are two weapons, the Bal still and the ASM1. Only 2 good guns! Occasionally you'll see a shotgun or a sniper, but most times you'll die from those two weapons. Let's go to last years game since it's already been through its cycle. It had 3 maybe 4 guns that people would consistently use for the entire game, that's all. The only argument is that everyone in Call of Duty will get those guns. This game there's no guarantee. This game is ever changing. If trial were to occur in November everyone would use the SURROS and no one would use the thorn, and all of the complaints would be how OP that weapon was and to nerf it. Just be happy for what you have. If you don't have the current "OP" guns then I'm sorry you don't have an equal chance at winning.

6 OdpowiedziEdytowany przez użytkownika Vx BiOHaZarD Vx: 5/31/2015 3:18:57 AMWow... This thread is taking a lot of heat, but I fully agree with you. People who have used these weapons from the beginning don't understand the frustration of being forced to used a different weapon class simply because it's over powered in PVP. More than not have I started with a re-rolled auto rifle, meant for PVP grade action, only to be reduced to changing to a thorn somewhere in the middle of the match because of it's "over potential" to 2 or 3-shot an opposing player. The few weapons you've listed will continue to make pvp all the more unpleasant until fixed. Those who refuse to even acknowledge that these weapons ARE IN FACT over powered (the "Meggers") are those who continuously wish to abuse this (dare I say) border-line "PVP exploit" When (...if) they finally decide to nerf these weapons, so many of you pvp hotshots will crawl from under your rocks and whine till hell freezes over because of the lack of FOUR over advantage weapons against the hundreds of "potentials" the remainder of players want to actually play with.

4 OdpowiedziWhen you all thron users lose your gun, i'd like to see what you do when you need to use a gun that requires actual skill, you will cry, there will be no advantage but your skill, and you will fall, because of the bad player you are, and my 2.7 kd will even rise more, and i will collect your tears.

I'll keep it short... The problem is the bad balancing in the first place... Then the nerfing of weapons constantly for PVP players... Bungie needs create a better balanced weapon out the gate. And leave weapons like they are... Otherwise they need to leave all gear out of PVP and have basic gear in all PVP events so it's completely reliant on skill. They are too many variables to deal with, and bungie back tracking to nerf stuff to make the community happy is ruining the game.
-
Nah. They need to nerd the Khvostov first
-
Lol I only have 9 of the 65 guns listed. Buy I also have thorn, TLW, and red death so I'm guilty as hell.
-
I used to use Suros from the get, it came from years of using autos in other pvp games. To me it always felt like an auto &semi auto because of the focus fire. Sure it was a little OP (I used to use rare autos that beat it, who knew skill had anything to do with it.) but it was an option compared to everything else, to me it didn't seem as op as other weapons now, and I don't complain about weapons being op because there was always a choice of what weapons to use. But all the pvp crying about autos literally ruined pvp into a handcannon game type. Fault lands with Bungie. They obviously did not know how to balance guns, instead of bringing everything up to par with the suros(let's face it, that's what people cried about along with the Vex) they nerfed it to hell while making everything better. When's the last time you got killed by an auto rifle because I don't recall..?
-
I usually use my vanguard pulse rifle, the matador and truth
-
My monte is good in pvp amazing actually even hardlight as well ive been killed by nlb allloooottt
-
You can use those guns and still wreck.. just not in iron banner or trials.

1 OdpowiedźI am starting to hate the Hand Cannon Regime. Its only going to get worse when Hawkmoon makes an appearance in the Fall for the XB. I have been using Auto Rifles ( GASP ) to extreme success but whenever faced with one of these 4 weapons, it doesn't matter what I do, I will either lose the fight or get double teamed in my attempt. There needs to be a heavy rebalance of Crucible Weapons.

1 OdpowiedźHave you seen the thorn bullet thing. That shits not op it needs a buff. One to the dome should kill anything.
-
1 OdpowiedźCan't they just buff the other guns?
-
Couldn't agree more. I don't want to keep going up against an orgy of hand cannons and shotguns whenever I even step foot in the crucible. Even if it means buffing every other weapon, I'm fine with it as long as I don't get killed by thorn poison 10 seconds after killing the guy who shot me
-
I agree
-
No not myyyy vex FACK OFF
-
Vex is probably the most balanced gun in the game. Try using that shit & getting accurate headshots while strafing, on a strafing target. GOOD LUCK. vex is super balanced as of right now, if you can learn to account w. Its terrible accuracy & bullet-travel-time, then you will be rewarded. Most people can't do that. I've only went to the lighthouse twice, both times I've tried. Haven't went for it this weekend yet, but I didn't see a lot of Vex. If you're at the ass end of mid range you can kiss your ass goodbye to any opponent if you're wielding a vex. I agree that the other weapons are op. but they shouldn't be nerfed. Shit should be brought back up to par. tired of everything getting nerfed. They nerf it in PvP & then it's finished for all kinds of gameplay. once it's nerfed cus people cry too much, the weapon becomes unusable & it's ridiculous. There's always goin to be op weapons. I could care less what they are. regardless if the next set of weapons is 'less op', it doesn't make a difference. They'll be op compared to others, & there will be nerf posts poisoning the forums just like there are now. I don't say poison because of the OP, or because of the actual post. But because of the hate & toxicity it brings out altogether on these forums. let's face it, nobody gives a shit if these posts are logical or not. OP "collects tears", & the people who post call OP an idiot & therefore thinks they're "collecting tears" too. it's ridiculous & so stupid. if bungie didn't destroy all the other weapons, they would be usable & crucible would be a great thing. Instead they make it so there's a few elite weapons & then they get destroyed & another set of elite weapons is brought in to replace it. until they just quit it w. The nerfs the cycles never gonna stop. & my dumbass will be feeding into other dumbasses via these forums & vice versa. unfortunate. I come into these forums because I've a genuine enjoyment for this game & I learn some cool stuff & have some legitimate conversations sometimes. but always find myself getting caught up in the toxins of it too. sucks there's so much bullshit.

Edytowany przez użytkownika IS0M0RPHIC: 5/31/2015 6:27:28 AMNo what really needs to be fixed is the amount of people WHO ARE LAG SWITCHING. I mean GOD WHOEVER AT BUNGIE CHOSE PEER TO PEER CONNECTION OVER DEDICATED SERVERS....should get a scolding
-
how bout you sobs ban thorn from pvp
-
Red death?
-
Nice point.. But from experience, the use of thorn, vex,lw (suros before auto nerf)mostly on level andvantage enalbled game(Trial,IB) coz its the most effective coz of level advantage, other than that, i see lots of gun variation on reguler pvp game ( mostly pulse right now ) maybe
-
Doesn't surprise me this happened. That's what happens when you don't balance a game separately for pvp and pve, especially one with rpg mechanics.
