Also is it socially acceptable to describe someone as black these days?
-edit-
Idris Elba is strongly linked to be the next bond
You'll recognise him from pacific rim and Thor

1 OdpowiedźSure, why not?
-
At your 2nd it's really depending on whether you use it in a bad otherwise probably partially okay to me
-
It's right to call people black
but don't use -blam!-
-
Yes because
http://sd.keepcalm-o-matic.co.uk/i/everyone-is-equal-so-deal-with-it.png
Bond being white isn't essential to who he his. It's more nationality than ethnicity. Casting a black Thor or a white Black Panther doesn't make sense based on their background stories.
-
2 OdpowiedziWell I'm white so I'm 99% sure that people can be black
-
If they have a black James Bond I'll flip out just like that kind did in Baltimore
-
I think it would be okay. I asked my dad who is a big James Bond fan, and he brought up a good point. He thought about it for a while, and explained that he couldn't be as worldly. Racism (and the obvious fact that he's black) would make it harder for him to travel. He wouldn't be able to blend in to as many places, for example Russia.
-
5 OdpowiedziSure. I'm a big fan of the books and movies, and I don't see why there should be any rule on what Bond is "supposed to be".
-
The problem is that he's been the same character, all the way since Sean Connery. Different actors, but he's always been a white actor. Idris Elba would be awesome no doubt, but can't up and change the heritage of an icon that's been around since 1962.
-
3 OdpowiedziNo? James Bond is a part of British heritage, I'm pretty sure that Ian Flemming didn't picture him as black, he's never been black before, I don't see why we can't just leave some things alone, if there was a recurring famous character that had always been portrayed as black and was from a predominantly black country, I wouldn't sit there pointing my finger at it saying 'oi wtf let's have some white guy playing him!'
-
Honestly don't care
-
7 OdpowiedziWhy not?
-
Heck yeah. The dude from Django might make a good Black Bond.
-
6 OdpowiedziIt wouldn't make sense for the character. There's no such thing as a black Scotsman. Would you like a black Han Solo? It's just not the character. I'd be equally against a white Mace Windu.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Smarkdow: 5/9/2015 4:44:46 PMI don't think it's respecting who the character is. I know people buy into the theory that "James Bond" is a codename, but that isn't the case, or at least it wasn't before Casino Royale "rebooted" the movie franchise. It'd be like making Axel Foley a white dude. It just wouldn't seem right to me.
-
Just write a black man into a new spy movie. No need to throw him into the Bond roll

1 OdpowiedźEdytowany przez użytkownika MrStiv1313: 5/9/2015 4:00:16 PMAlways thought it was a code name given to the agent who assumed the 007 number. Like was stated in one of the movies. " double 0s have a very short life expectancy so you won't have long to regret your mistake!" Would be cool to see how the actor pulls off the role
-
Would seem strange at first - not for any racist reason - I've been a fan of the Bond films since, well, as long as I can remember. The change could be a good one though if a little strange at first. If Idris Elba is the named actor I'd be happy. Good actor with good screen presence in the titles I've seen him in.

2 OdpowiedziI always thot it was a titel like wen the guy dies they chouse some one else to be james bond
-
Yes to both.
-
4 OdpowiedziHe's always been white with black hair (except the new one) so no
-
1 OdpowiedźYeah, why don't you make him Asian now that you are at it.

3 OdpowiedziWould black people be ok with a white dude playing shaft? Stupid and unnecessary.
