And when you had to get a game based on the name, cover, and stills on the back?

Used to rely on magazines for me reviews. And as a kid my mum could only afford to buy me a game once in a blue moon so I'd play the ones I had to death and loved them. Gaming will never be as good now I'm an adult. Couldn't even fathom spending an entire weekend doing nothing but playing a game anymore. Will always cherish the times that I could though.

2 OdpowiedziHow about when game reviews were honest? Nowadays it's hard to tell what reviews weren't bought or bribed.

Demo in the case

1 OdpowiedźYup. That was the shit. That was our golden age. Nobody played the order 1886. Know why? Because we watched some cool stuff about it, then we thought hmm that looks really good. And AS SOON as word got around that "ehh, it's not quite as cool as we'd hoped" it was immediately swept under the rug and nobody gave a shit. I was one of those people, and I realize how the media has made it so easy for us to decide without hesitation whether or not we should get a game. Unfortunately, it has stolen the spirit of gaming.

I want my paper strategy guides back :(

1 OdpowiedźWhen the whole game wasn't split up into little DLC chunks **cough cough** destiny **cough cough**

1 OdpowiedźYusss. I loved the feeling of walking down to a blockbuster every Friday after school to rent a game. I always decided what to try by looking at the pictures. Those were the good old days.
-
I do all the time. I miss the Ps2 days.
-
4 OdpowiedziI miss just putting a disk in and not having to install anything.
-
How about when they weren't all RPGs. You didn't have to level up, have to unlock everything, and you just played to have fun and beat the game. When I was growing up every game out now - sports included - would be called RPGs.
-
1 OdpowiedźI just miss manuals...
-
I miss buying a game, plugging in said game and playing it. Now I have too wait after purchasing a game so It can get updates so It doesn't glitch the fūck out
-
Trailers have always been fun. But I agree with you about the other shit.
-
But a lot of those games were kind of shit lol.
-
Mass effect one, no big marketing yet best RPG I've played on console
-
I miss when I could buy a game and know that I'm spending money on a complete and finished product. When dlc wasn't mandatory and locked on the disc...

2 OdpowiedziNaw, i hardly remember that time. I'm only 22.
-
Those were the days.
-
No, I like to see some gameplay or try a demo before I buy a game.
-
I still remember the mass effect and kingdom hearts trailers loved them both.
-
No, I like the awesome trailers. Makes me really excited to play the games (especially fallout 4's;)

2 OdpowiedziBest part for me about getting a new game was looking at the instruction manual it came with, the nostalgia!

3 OdpowiedziThose were the days unless you bought crap

4 OdpowiedziTalos the mighty! Talos the unerring! Talos the unassailable! To you we give praise! We are but maggots, writhing in the filth of our own corruption! While you have ascended from the dung of mortality, and now walk among the stars! But you were once man! Aye! And as man, you said, "Let me show you the power of Talos Stormcrown, born of the North, where my breath is long winter. I breathe now, in royalty, and reshape this land which is mine. I do this for you, Red Legions, for I love you." Aye, love. Love! Even as man, great Talos cherished us. For he saw in us, in each of us, the future of Skyrim! The future of Tamriel! And there it is, friends! The ugly truth! We are the children of man! Talos is the true god of man! Ascended from flesh, to rule the realm of spirit! The very idea is inconceivable to our Elven overlords! Sharing the heavens with us? With man? Ha! They can barely tolerate our presence on earth! Today, they take away your faith. But what of tomorrow? Do the elves take your homes? Your businesses? Your children? Your very lives? And what does the Empire do? Nothing! Nay, worse than nothing! The Imperial machine enforces the will of the Thalmor! Against its own people! So rise up! Rise up, children of the Empire! Rise up, Stormcloaks! Embrace the word of mighty Talos, he who is both man and Divine! For we are the children of man! And we shall inherit both the heavens and the earth! And we, not the Elves or their toadies, will rule Skyrim! Forever! Terrible and powerful Talos! We, your unworthy servants, give praise! For only through your grace and benevolence may we truly reach enlightenment! And deserve our praise you do, for we are one! Ere you ascended and the Eight became Nine, you walked among us, great Talos, not as god, but as man! Trust in me, Whiterun! Trust in the words of Heimskr! For I am the chosen of Talos! I alone have been anointed by the Ninth to spread his holy word!
