footage two years before release
And when you had to get a game based on the name, cover, and stills on the back?

4 OdpowiedziI miss the happy sensation you experience when the game cartridge works again after blowing it.

Edytowany przez użytkownika Regret: 9/19/2015 11:37:10 AMmost of the time i just look at a game and if the cover and the back of it intrigue me, i get it

I used to buy games because they looked like a lot of fun. 25 years later I still do the same thing.
-
I love the trailers and collecting some of the promo stuff from the some games. I think people just don't understand: trailer footage =/= game play footage.
-
DLCs didn't completely invalidate your playtime.
-
No. I remember games being 10 times more disappointing then they are now because you had no info on it.
-
...I feel let down :( I thought you were going to mention the little booklets inside the cases. I miss reading through those. Little bit about the lore, enemies, weapons etc. Anyone remember the Halo Combat Evolved booklet?
-
I remember, way back in the grey area of gaming fame. No Preorder bonuses, no awful broken AAA games, and I had to watch the trailer for MGS on a VHS tape that came with a magazine, the great days of gaming.

When DLC was an ADD ON not a necessity

1 OdpowiedźAside from the footage from two years before. All of that existed in the past. Games used to be made on shoestring budgets, took months rather than years to make and for a long time localization was seen as an annoyance and handed off to interns (look at the original Metal Gear instruction manual). People take games seriously now and demand they have the look and feel of a Hollywood movie and last at least 40 hours (not including cut scenes). Are you at all surprised that marketing has become a huge thing for games?

1 OdpowiedźHow about the days where the entire game was on the disc, and you didn't need to online services to play it
-
2 OdpowiedziI miss when games were complete on release. And I didn't have to wait for 3 months to fix it.
-
1 OdpowiedźHahaha remember the hype for evolve hahaha the fools they took us for
-
3 OdpowiedziI used to love pulling out the instruction manual to see screenshots from the game. #PS2masterrace

6 OdpowiedziAnd when we spent $60 for a full complete game.

1 OdpowiedźWaiting for my monthly EGM to come in the mail was the best thing ever. I still remember the issue about Halo 2 and how Elites were suppose to have the ability to climb walls and Spartans could peak around corner while scoped in.
-
People didn't hate games just because it was cool to (CoD).
-
When I couldn't afford Xbox Live because I thought it was $60 a month but it was $60 a year. When I played Halo for the first time at my friend's house on Halloween. When I played Halo 2 on my Xbox for the first time. When I played about half way through Crimson Skies because I had determined friends and we were bored.

4 OdpowiedziI miss renting games at video store to actualy try the full product before buying or beat the game for 5$ and move on
-
I miss buying games and being able to play them immediately without a massive download/installation first
-
I miss buying game guides when I didn't use the Internet for everything.
-
And no pre-ordering
-
2 OdpowiedziI miss that and no dlc.
-
No because those were more misleading than trailers. At least these days you can watch a youtube gameplay video if you can wait to not buy a game on Day 1

Used to rely on magazines for me reviews. And as a kid my mum could only afford to buy me a game once in a blue moon so I'd play the ones I had to death and loved them. Gaming will never be as good now I'm an adult. Couldn't even fathom spending an entire weekend doing nothing but playing a game anymore. Will always cherish the times that I could though.
