So which exotics don’t have an expiration date?

You guys are killing the entire class of weapons that are supposed to be uniquely powerful and game-changing. If you were gonna have every exotic nerfed into the ground, why bother having them as exotics in the first place? That yellow box means it’s special! You’re making the most special gear less and less special. If we grind away at the game we paid for and stand at the top of your progression system, we should be able to have game-changing gear. Otherwise, what’s the point? Challenge is fun but having less choices on how to deal with said challenges makes your game less fun. If you truly “listen” to your consumers, leave the exotics alone! You’re shooting yourself in the foot in the middle of a race you should’ve been in 5 years ago.

Exotic doesn't mean powerful nor was it Bungies intention to make them the answer to the question what you gonna bring to battle. They stated that countless times, even during D1 when they nerfed Icebreaker or Gijallarhorn. Black Spindle, for example, was changed as well and this change should come to no surprise for anyone. Why the gun was introduced the way it was pre-nerf in D1? Who knows. Does it matter in the end? No. Everyone with a brain could see this coming. Same with the super generating exos. They are broken AF and make any other choice obsolete, at least for PvE. They were a mistake in the first place and an auto-win button. Now that is gone we can, maybe, finally have loot worth chasing after because nothing beats infinite ammo or super energy. Excuse the devs for wanting diversity in THEIR game. But obviously everyone here must be a genius at game developing and knows what it takes how to create a fun experience without making them mechanical tedious or bullet spongy to the point of being a braindead run because you must design everything with broken stuff in mind....I'm still waiting.

That aside, the changes won't help with challenge for pve. You want to add challenge to pve improve the ai, add new enemies and abilities. Making high damage bullet sponges is the lazy way to add a challenge. If people are using supers too much why not add an enemy programmed to absorb it and buff the enemies around it. There are so many choices beside nerfing available.

          • I honestly see them stopping the major nerfs close to what they have already said. Everyone knows these nerfs are all on problem weapons. Can you honestly explain to me how you can create an encounter where WOTW and skull don't obliterate everything while still allowing other choices to be feasible? You can't always buff everything, I can't see how one could buff weapons up to Whispers level and keep an enjoyable game experience.

Remember when the nerfed the truth rocket from 3 in the mag to 1 and killed the tracking? I deleted mine after the nerf, then signed off for a long long time. Bungie grow a pair and just delete exotics from our inventory if you hate them so much! don’t patronise and waste our time with repeat nerfs that render the items useless!

          • I had finally got myself into a state of mind to go after Outbreak. And then this twab happened. Now I don't even see the point. Why chase anything in this game? It's just going to be nerfed eventually. Because Bungie wants us to have fun, but only what they decide fun should be.

              • You make some valid points and i agree that eververse must be removed from this game but, Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold

I only use whisper on primie, calus and morgeth. Other than them, the gun isn’t my go to. I never use sleeper. My main loadout is sotp shotty and nation of beasts. My heavy juggles between 1k, hammer head, tractor cannon and thundlord. I only use jottun in the encounters of levi. I only use riskrunner in burgusia. I only use tether at shuro chi. If im designated GG for shuro, I don’t use thether in raids at all. I only use it in strikes. I never used my Phoenix protocol. Barely use lunafaction. Only use skull when doing shuro, dogs and zero hour. Nothing needs nerfed when they all only have specific uses in specific places. If bungie could introduce new better exotics in the new season, we would actually have more diversity. But every season we get 1 or 2 at best new good exotics. This season has only given us 1 good exotic and it’s gonna be nerfed real soon. Power creep is not old weapons staying good. Power creep is new, only slightly better gear being released. Forcing small very unnoticeable dps increases. Power creep is a process that sometimes occurs in games where new content slowly outstrip the power of previous alternatives. This leads to players abandoning previous options in favour of the latest and more powerful alternatives, resulting in an inevitable increase in power throughout the game.

                      • Instead of nerfing, they could have just buffed other things to compete. I don't know why they don't just do that, it seems easier and far more popular than nerfing. And I say that as someone who gets killed way too often by Luna's and Not Forgotten, I still feel bad for people who got theirs legitimately and wish they'd buff some older guns if they aren't going to add new guns any time soon. They could also easily increase the loot pool by allowing players to take weapons from the Taken, the Fallen, Cabal, Vex, et al. That was one of the fun things about Halo was you could use alien weapons against them. It would also fix the issue of OP guns in Crucible, if they made it so if you kill someone who has an OP gun, you get to use it until you get killed (and then the person who killed you can pick it up). It would only last duration of the match, but it would: 1) give players who don't have said gun a chance to try it out, and see if it's worth grinding for; 2) if the gun is OP, it makes people who have tried it out, want it all the more and thus will do what it takes to grind for it; 3) A team who unstrategically uses OP guns in a match, risk losing their weapons to the enemy, so it becomes a trade-off in terms of risk in using OP guns, and great players may opt to use weak guns in Crucible deliberately for bragging rights and to not risk losing OP guns to an opposing team who will most certainly use it against them. It would also be interesting to give an 'OP' rating to each weapon, super, ability, etc. and give additional points to people not using OP guns in a match, to balance things out. Good players, once again, would opt to use non-OP guns just to get extra points. Of course, I think good players should also start getting fewer points in a game versus lesser skilled opponents, while less skilled opponents defeating a superior player will net them extra points. Making the scoring system more complex could help offset the current issue with matches becoming unfair and unbalanced very quickly in terms of scoring, since there is something clearly wrong with the matchmaking and/or team balancing when so many matches are total blowouts for one side or the other.

                          • While some will say that it is natural progression of the game, I disagree with this. Hear me out. So let's say sleeper and whisper were 2 really good weapons which broke the game. We have had it for few seasons so time to move on right? This argument is flawed because it puts the responsibility of 'moving on' on the player base. Bungie sort of washes their hands with the responsibility of making better weapons which trump whisper and sleeper in this example. FFS, this is a game. There should be no limits to the imaginary guns we use. Make a new weapon better than the current one so that we can move on to them. It will give variety and new dimension to the game. Nerf is just lazy way if 1 step forward 2 step backward and calling the rest of DLC because you will be forced to move on.
I forgot, Bungie has already said that making new content is harder so maybe nerf is their solutions
