Iron Banner Mode Update
Based on early player responses, we are replacing Iron Banner Tribute with Iron Banner Control for the rest of the week.
This change will take effect at today at 5:00PM PT.
We created Tribute as a spinoff of Supremacy with a twist on crest collection. Feedback so far is clear that the new mechanic could use more time for tuning. With just a couple of days of data, we’re seeing far more matches end in mercies and shutouts than expected.
We will be addressing issues related to scoring and pacing for the next time Tribute comes to IB. This includes adjusting the score threshold for winning, the crest thresholds for triggering the Hunt phase, dunk times, and overall clarity of objectives.
Iron Banner is intended to be a celebration of PvP and we want to make sure everyone is having a positive experience when playing it. Look for an improved Iron Banner Tribute experience when we bring it back in the future.

I imagine it must be demoralizing for you to work hard on something, and everyone hates it Would really disgust me and make me feel nothing I do means anything, and I wouldn't give a flip about the game or the players anymore

Such a shame. You should have courage in your convictions and not pander to the moaners. Yes it could do with some tuning but it was quite enjoyable once you got used to it.

8 RisposteHere’s a suggestion. Players a more worried about their KD then playing objectives. Perhaps get rid of KD tracking in iron banner. This way people will actually play the objective to get their wins. Keep KD tracking in the standard playlists and Trials.

I was actually liking the new game mode! Control is just so slow and boring anymore :'(. The only criticism I had about the new mode was how long the animation was to bank motes but other than that I did really enjoy it! I think a lot of players just want to brainlessly shoot and worry too much about K/D and do not want to PTFO!!!

Wow, good call Bungie and well done for a quick pivot turn around. There's been a couple of those recently so keep it up. (Even better, learn the lesson that we don't like our favorite things being taken away at any point and checkmate control is another example of this)

8 RisposteFor all the people complaining, saying that it should never come back, that it should just stay control forever, congratulations. You are justifying those years of time when bungie didn't give us any maps or modes and we had to literally fight to get more. Every time we get something new, it gets complained about. Every time it gets complained about, it gets removed. Every time it gets removed, it becomes wasted dev time and money, and more justification for them to never give us anything ever again. When we have another 3 year long stretch with no maps after that map pack launches I'll blame all of you, and gladly do so.

I hope this was enough data and actually don’t mind if this kind of thing became the norm. Maybe each Saturday of IB you do a new game mode test like a big Labs session. For me, it was just the pacing of the mode and not really knowing how the points system worked (I.e. specific number to start the wolves howling etc). Maybe there could be in game text or like a bulletin board at Saladin with the rule set on it.

I like the idea behind the mode. But there are things that need to be tweaked. Crest visibility. You cant see whats going on half the time because crests obscure vision. Wall hacks, just no... Penalizing players who play the OBJ just inst how to do it. That just makes people only slay out and the OBJ focused players get farmed or jump off the maps when they cant deposit. Depositing restrictions, the fact that only 1 player can deposit at a time, and it doesnt prioritize the player with the most crests. Thats a miss. Just make the players need to stay in the zone to deposit, and even make it only deposit 1 crest at a time so the more crests the longer you hold the zone. Maybe a SMALL boost in super for every crest as it is deposited could be incentive to bank crests? Rotating deposition stations makes it infuriating when you go to bank, and as youre banking the station disappears. Especially while youre waiting for your rotation to deposit. The biggest issues are that you penalize players for playing well, and that going on a hunt often favors the opposite team...

I actually really like Tribute and think it's challenging and lore friendly The people hating it clearly don't know how to work as a team or "wolf pack" Tribute is all about working with your team to secure tributes and push the carrier to the drop zone

what if the banks could be captured and set up like a control point. and instead of a bank de-spawning every few seconds, have it owned by your team until taken. Also there should not be a hunt faze with the cabal turrets and one bank, removal of that would help. altho if you are hell bent on using cabal turrets when you bank your crests it should cause an allied cabal turret to spawn at that bank to help defend it. the more crests deposited = more defenses. then again this could play poorly, but just my thoughts on the new gambit banner mode.

1 RispondiMaybe.... Just remove the crest pickups. Kills add to your tally. Number is show above your head. Deaths subtract from the overall tally. Bank to earn points.

1 RispondiOther mode wasn't awful, it was just chaos because nobody really understood the mechanics. I suggest allowing crest to be deposited while near the thing 🤣

You have Crucible Labs for a reason. Test the quirky game modes there, not in IB.

Please DO NOT bring back that insanely horrible mode. Just stick to control of clash. Nobody asked for a new mode. Keep your ideas to yourselves because they suck. Sorry but the truth hurts sometimes.

One of the reasons i quit pvp was because you messed with iron banner.. So please no next time. Keep an original game mode control and just make maps. Not modes. Clearly your reading the room wrong. Again. More beautiful landscapes not trash modes

Please for the love of god stop making these modes every season we do NOT want/need new modes for banner just keep it as control and clash. We just need better LOOT, for example if you brought by steady hand even with its old perk pool the IB population would double, just bring it some decent reason to play it…

Tone deaf... PVP in genera isn't fixable until you put some serious teeth into dealing with cheaters Would help a LOT if it wasn't running on outdated (even for 2014 standards) highly exploitable garbage.

The problem was nobody didn’t know what was going on, you just dropped everyone in the meat grinder no explanation of how to play it. I actually liked it after awhile I just wished the banks didn’t move around and tone the turrets down

Tribute was a good mode. Actually needing to do something other than run around shooting people with Thorn or shotgun sliding with complete abandon isn’t popular I guess
