Nevermind. I had an IB piece on and that's why I didn't need the Synthweave initially. For any other piece, yep. Need the Synthweave after putting in 3 engrams to get Ashraven's Iron Hood, and need a Synthweave to fully unlock it. I am glad my IB armor set is the best set of armor I've got.
Bungie can f*ck right off with that nonsense. One cost is enough. The Synthweaves aren't hard to get, but its still completely unnecessary. Maybe that's why they chose it though.

It's been like this, these are faction ornaments not universal ornaments. Universal can be applied on all armor except exotics. Faction just that faction, in this case just ib armor will take it. This is how it used to work before transmog. Trangmod was introduced to turn armor an faction ornaments into universal ornaments, not to have all ornaments available on all armor sets.
