There were better ways to nerf it.

  • I just responded. Nerf Throwing Hammer's damage by 50%, cure by 25%. What do you think?

  • Bungie gave it a 40% buff because it used to be useless. 50% would make it worse than when it was considered useless (The only other change was allowing the sunspots to heal instead of buff damage and lowering its damage gain through roaring which was less due to worries of hammer and more worries due to light 3.0 strength) Also nerfing cure would nerf all forms of cure making cure useless (Currently cure is about an instant 40 hp)

  • I didn't know about that buff. Still, something to consider reversing considering how powerful it is. The cure would instead be a health grant as to not completely nerf cure. IDK. I love the hammer, but even as a solar Hunter running Knock 'Em Down I'm saying "Dude, that's too powerful." In reality, it's simply because the aspects that combine with it, too, that's the worst part. There's no smooth way around it.

  • Well, they probably wouldve just nerfed it's damage or uptime in general which wouldve honestly been worse. I think reducing it to 1 second would make it feel less icky.

  • If it was absolutely pathetic unless roaring flames was stacked...I'd be a lot more pissed than it hitting really hard but have a "cooldown." I also didn't think of this until I responded to you, but they could also just reduce the top end damage granted by roaring flames to throwing hammer based on having synths or worm god further (I have no idea what it sits at).

I would say that’s especially true if they had just nerfed its damage against majors, champions and bosses, leaving its damage to minors untouched. The delay just doesn’t feel good to use it.

  • They need to use the Hunters' Combination Blow. I feel it's a decent enough reference for Throwing Hammer. Take a look at the Hunter's throwing knives.
