Ngl, this puzzle was extremely weak. There's no hints (that I've seen) that teach you this. The Glyph thing has a hint in the Altars of Summoning (the center circle has 3 glyphs that are different, which are the ones required for the Cunning test). Meanwhile, you're just expected to beat your head against the second puzzle until you solve it by accident. A good puzzle gives you the tools to figure it out and makes you go "Aha!" It should not make you go "how the heck was I supposed to know that?"

  • I opened every chest for the 1st one because I couldn't figure it out, copied youtube for 2nd because I couldn't figure it out either. I am not as cunning as the vanguard had hoped.

  • To recount my experience, I went into the second puzzle blind. Realized it wanted me to kill the Hive in a specific order right away. Wasted one death by taking out the one closest to the Ritual Circle and two additional deaths on trying to find a logical starting point before I noticed the Insight node which points you directly to the start point. The fourth death occurred after I took down the Knight that immediately followed the first Thrall, the fifth after I checked to see if the Thrall was actually pointing to the target behind and to the left of the one it was pointed at, and a sixth death when I tried skipping the first Thrall and proceeding directly to the Knight that followed. So I took a second and noted that I died from killing the target directly following the Thrall rather than from killing the Thrall itself, and that because none of the previous targets killed in that attempt had respawned the puzzle was not telling me to kill targets in reverse order, so I decided the next logical conclusion was to skip the target after the Thrall. After I didn’t trigger the death sequence from skipping said target, I continued on like that, completing the puzzle with only six deaths. Probably would have experienced one or two fewer deaths had I noticed the Insight node from the get go, but overall I felt the puzzle was just fine, considering there was no pressure due to a time limit or having to solve the puzzle while under fire. I don't have an issue with a puzzle being challenging, I have an issue with the puzzle being bad. It's literally a case of "throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks". There is no indication on how to figure out that shooting a Thrall requires you to skip a target, it literally comes down to trial and error. That's bad puzzle design. A good puzzle gives you all the information and it falls on you to piece it together. A bad puzzle leaves information out and relies on brute forcing it. Example: An old riddle that asks: "What's black and white and read all over?" You hear "red" though, because this riddle is usually spoken. However, the answer lies in the question and it's on you to figure it out. The answer is a newspaper, because they (used to be) printed in black and white and you read the whole thing. The second puzzle is essentially asking "What's yellow?" with the answer being "banana." You have absolutely no way of guessing that and just have to work your way down the list of things that are yellow.

  • You've essentially detailed what happened for my attempt, right down to the number of deaths. It's.....almost.......like you were watching.....👀!
