If you mean the luminous void shader thats sold in the monarch ornament bundle - it was changed back last week after they had already told us the changes to it to begin with were unintentional and being reverted. This is the intended version

Did that design look that way because of a fault? So I bought a package that had a fault and when they fixed it, it ended up looking as ugly as expected?

It wasn't bugged when it launched. The timeline was basically: It was fine at launch update 7.2.0.2 on the 29th of August changed how it looks: [quote]Fixed an issue where the Luminous Void shader and the Warped Rachis shader were not properly applying to certain pieces of armor. We are currently working to revert this change and return it to its previous appearance. They did not revert it properly, the shader is currently different than it was originally despite what the patch notes say. It is currently uglier than it was on launch or before 'reverting' it.
