I disagree. If the old is renewed they are unlikely to change the perk pools. At least now even if I didn't care for the old version there's at least a chance I'll want the new. If nothing changes then neither will what is desired.

 • But then, even if things didn't get sunsetted, you'd want the new, better, version. If the new perk pool made something useless good, people would be chasing the godd version regardless of sunsetting.

 • There's no reason to release a new version if the old is still viable. Before this the only reissues were year ones that didn't have random rolls or the occasional d1 weapon.

 • And that's the huge issue: the "Old version" is still (theorically) as viable as ever. But you won't be able to use it because "reasons". Instead, you'll have to grind the same thing you have again, if not a "watered down" version, since they said that the perk pool will change. Immediatelly the "Hung Jury" case from D1 comes to mind. If you had the "god roll" of it, you could keep it. If you didn't, then too bad. It wouldn't drop again. Ever. Only that, this time, even if you have the god roll, you can't use it because it can't be "powered up".

 • I'm saying without sun setting there wouldn't be any new versions of these guns so if a weapon that has random rolls is trash then it would continue to be trash unless they completely rework the weapon system and would justify a reissue. With sun setting a formally garbage gun can be given better perks and a formally god gun can get the opposite, completely changing how the meta plays out. If people are allowed to keep their old guns relevant then nothing would change. People would simply hoard their years old guns, complain there isn't enough vault space, and new guns are trash compared to what we already have so why farm them.

 • And with sunsetting, there's no reason to waste time farming for something that'll be useless down the line. As people have been telling Bungie ever since D1: If a weapon is trash, buff/rework it to make it be desirable. Making what is good useless just to force you into playing with a trash weapons gets us where we are no: with players (again) leaving the game or without a reason to play.
If people are allowed to keep their old guns relevant then nothing would change.
It doesn't need to change. If players want to play with said weapon, let them. Denying player the choice on how they play only lead to the game being this boring AF crap that it's been.
People would simply hoard their years old guns, complain there isn't enough vault space, and new guns are trash compared to what we already have so why farm them.
Right now, this applies to EVERYTHING in this game. Why waste time farming or masterworking something that, inevitably, will be dismantled "because it expired"?

 • Bungie was effectively in a no win situation. For every person like you there is likely a person like me. No matter what they did someone would be upset. It's how the concept of vocal minority works. Sunsetting is just the loss they chose.

 •
For every person like you there is likely a person like me.
Sadly, there's no way to know the true number of people that were pro or against sunsetting. For the "loss they chose", it wasn't really a "loss". People will leave? Yes. However the ones that'll stay will probably still buy season passes and DLCs. They literally have the minimal "effort" by only changing the minimal possible and will reap all the rewards of people buying the content I mentioned. Same thing that applies to "Freemium" games (since Destiny became one): The "paying players" will, usually, spend enough to "fill the quota" of 6+ free ones. I, as I said befor, unistalled when sunsetting was announced. I knew it would be bullshit and Bungie didn't disappoint me in that regard. They even surprised me, since I thought that the re-issuing would take, at least, half a year to happen and, even then, things like names and models would change. Not this "copy-paste go farm again" atrocity that happened.

 • People kind of forced their hand on it. Those locations not being viable while still requiring the dlc be bought is really the only valid argument there was. So they rushed out some guns and the armor to say see they have a use. The fact that the moons guns will be the only 4 that you couldn't farm an essence from the table near eris is a sign that it was rushed.
