Ok, here is the problem with that from bungies POV. If they reissue a gun and at the same time increase the infusion cap on players old versions, they then have all the people who deleted their old versions in an outrage because bungie said that it would never happen so it’s safe to delete sunset gear. All those people who deleted said guns would be furious and it would just cause the issue to splinter off into more pockets of the community. The only way bungie will do it is to reissue weapons with new perks. What bungie need to do though is make sure that new new weapons outnumber the reissues. So with season 13 we get 8 weapons from dc and moon in total, so they need to make more than 8 new weapons from different archetypes. Otherwise they really are just being lazy and milking the season money.

  • Well they also said they wanted our time to matter and didn't want us to ever think our guns were worthless. I don't trust them. I still have my weapons I prefer, I will not delete, deep down I know they'll change course again.

    Real reason is: The more bungie takes away from you, the more stuff you have in front of your nose again when you're back running in the hamsterwheel, when they re-issue the stuff they have taken away from you prior. And if you delete your stuff, then you never got attached to it. It sucks, but you shouldn't just delete stuff only because Luke Smith has a fancy idea. Think about what happens if all players boycott using non-sunset weapons. Luke Smith will cry because nobody appreciates the made-with-love new loot? No! He will say: "God, damn it. These hamsters were too clever. Maybe I was too scummy and instead have to actually create content instead of punching my customers into their faces!" He will admit it was a mistake and reverse sunsetting. But that never happens, because too many players are addicted and keep throwing money at Bungie and defend sunsetting like it was their own idea.

  • Deleting a god roll by accident is all me and if I do that again which believe me I've done before and no doubt I will do it again it is my fault, but deleting god rolls because Bungie tells me they are no good is on them, what the f*ck are you smoking, sun setting is lazy, it requires no effort, and in the future it means if a stale meta comes along then they just have to ride the waves until they hit their sell by date and it's all good. Side stepping a problem doesn't solve it, it just ignores it at the expense of a proper solution.

    Bungie never told anyone to delete sunset gear as that gear is still playable at the base level of the game. They only said you don't have to keep armor for the transmog, but, as far as I know, they never said that it is safe to delete sunset gear. If someone deleted old gear, then that is completely on them and not to be blamed on Bungie. That said, I think sunsetting needed to happen (although the roll-out could have been handled better), as it gives players a reason to pursue newer loot. I will feel less pressure to purse the latest god-roll auto-rifle/shotgun etc. if I already have 15 of them. Sunsetting is designed to put pressure on players, at some point, to start looking for replacements of old gear, even if that replacement is a re-issue.

  • Bungie would never tell anyone to delete gear, it's counter intuitive for them to do that in case of the current situation we face, it's a get out of jail free card for them, that said sun setting didn't need to happen, what needed to happen was for them to delete or nerf the meta, it was stale as f*ck, especially in PvP. The problem is Bungie took the easiest and laziest option available, instead of reworking or deleting the problem weapons, they went for the shotgun method and took out all of the weapons, meta or not, was Hush a game breaker?, Randys? Breakneck? Loaded Question? or Wendigo? The lazy option killed everything, not Moutaintop, Revoker, or Recluse, they f*cked everything, and they did it with sun setting because it was easy and lazy, why worry about a stale meta when it has a shelf life, if something like the Mountaintop or Revoker comes along again they can ignore it and let time work it's magic with zero effort, but in the mean time the game suffers. You're right something had to change, but imho because Bungie took the Chinese dollar and that is their focus at the expense of Destiny that is the real problem, but if I'm honest I don't think they have the people or the will to make Destiny a great game, the current version of Bungie is standing on the shoulders of better people and it shows.

    If they had just killed all those weapons then there would have been just as many people complaining. They can't win no matter what they do. They made a decision. Some hate it. But just as many people would have hated it if they went the other way. You know as well as I do that that is how the Destiny community is. They want their cake and eat it too. Well, something has to give if this game is to remain viable for another 3 or more years. They probably felt that this would be the least painful method of pushing people towards the newer gear without ripping old weapons out of their hands.

  • Solution: Sunrised weapons and armour can be pulled from collections with certain perks being able to be chosen by the player aslong as it was earned before sunsetting was implemented.

  • Wouldn’t happen because there was no system in place to record what perks we had on weapons, only if they had been acquired or not. I get the route you’re looking at, unfortunately bungie didn’t have any foresight to see these sort of issues and only in hindsight we can say ah but if..... this comes from bungies unreal arrogance when it comes to wholesale changes to the game.

    No the gun itself being earned not the gun with specific perks. So you had a ghost primus in your collections and now you can pull one from there that you can choose perks on (Within reason). I should have been more specific.

  • A dream I have always had was weapons 2.0 when you get a roll the perks you get are unlocked on all copies of that weapon when you get all the perks then you can truly masterwork the weapon. But yes I see some obvious problems with this system but a guy can daydream

  • Yeah or a certain perk cost x amount of mats and we can only pull 2 copies of a weapon from collection but weapon has 2 perks per column much like the weapons from the umbral decoder. So the more mats spent then the better the weapon can be and can’t abuse it as it’s 2 pulls per gun so could have a pvp and pve roll. The mat type required and how many of each would be the next issue as someone like myself has almost 1,500 cores, 200 prisms in postmaster/inventory, 10 shards and about 70 fully masterworked armor from pit boss in vault that break down into 6 cores/6 prisms (I know people out there have wayyyyyyy more). For me the cost no matter what probably wouldn’t even be noticeable but for newer or more casual players who wouldn’t have those resources it’d be another issue, but then again those newer/casual players probably didn’t already have god rolls of weapons from every season. I didn’t delete and weapon that was god roll and once part of the meta as for patrol and pvp I knew in future I’d want to have a bit of nostalgia.
