One way they could implement this into Destiny is by having a stow weapon option.
When you load into the Cosmodrome as a New Light you'll spawn in with no weapons, just your fists. If you sprint you can see your fists on screen, but if you walk or jump your screen is completely clean.
It's not the ideal photo mode, but it's a system they already have the animations for and is much better than having players try to break the game to get a clear screen.

"Break the game"? How so? Are there current glitches that show our characters with no weapons? I just turn off the HUD and then grab a screenshot while I'm in the middle of a weapon switch. DEFINITELY not an ideal way of grabbing screens either but I don't see how that could break the game.

For example, a hunter no gun glitch which was great for filming could also be used to avoid raid wipe mechanics. Another glitch we had for a no gun cinematic mode was doing some bad stuff behind the scenes apparently according to a statement made by Bungie at some point. Etc. If they implemented an official stow weapon mode players would stop trying to break things to hide their guns for cinematic video recording. Most of the glitches are patched atm except for a not as good Warlock one so players are using macros to quickly swap weapons to clear their screens.

I think it was just a figure of speech, or a reference to how many glitches the game has. Does putting your weapons that you’re holding into the vault from the Companion app not work anymore? That would be slightly easier for screenshots I’d imagine not that that really effects me but still.

I honestly don't know about the Companion app. It seems like they might've fixed it a while back but I don't remember. I've always used Item Manager and it doesn't allow pulling equipped items while on a planet. Just brought up the Companion and when selecting an equipped item the only option I see is Lock/Unlock. No option for Transfer so I guess it was fixed at some point.

Yeah they sadly fixed that one. It would have been great for filming but sadly it's another bug they patched.
