The MountainTop, The Recluse, and Titans, The Heavy Truth: A story of Destiny 2 Crucible Competitive

Right off the bat, I would like to say something. I wholeheartedly enjoy the changes that have been made to Destiny 2 during this ShadowKeep update. I believe that most of the community shares those feelings and are very proud of Bungie for sticking to a playerbase that has, at times, wanted nothing to do with the game. You managed to win a lot of people back with ShadowKeep to the point of the servers actually being overloaded! I am very proud of all of you at the Destiny Team for working hard to repair what has been broken and clean up the mess that a certain company has made. But, I believe Shadowkeep is merely a stepping stone towards an even greater goal and an even greater game. After continuing to play Crucible, (The PvP that never seems to lose me) I have noticed a few issues regarding overall balance in both Casual but mainly Competitive. My belief, along with many other Guardians, is that Competitive play should not include Heavy Ammo drops. Let me paint a picture, let's all go back to Destiny 1, Trials of Osiris and Private Matches. For those that didn't know, there were a small number of Guardians that excelled in the Crucible and especially in Trials of Osiris to the point where we simply couldn't get enough. Most of us hadn't missed a single Trials of Osiris weekend since the very beginning. So a few of us got together and decided to try and create a REAL Competitive experience within Destiny 1. It wasn't much, and honestly it wasn't as well received in some circumstances. But for those of us that were playing major to minor roles in it's creation, we were stoked. We had some pretty basic rules. Private matches would be played exactly like Trials of Osiris, with no Heavy Ammo and on occasion, no SuperCharges. Pretty easy to follow along. But even before Private Matches, there was a system that was about 40% that would get you matched with another group to where you could play the psuedo Competitive matches. The dedication was there, sometimes waiting up to an hour of this tedious back and forth checking of Evaulating and Searching Guardians. Which leads me to my next point, Heavy weapons (although completely viable strategies in today's Competitive playlists was seen as unfair due to how much the Heavy Game was focused, whoever got Heavy, won the game. I would like to see a competitive scene without the bias of Heavy Ammo, without Heavy Ammo camping being the Number 1 way to win a game. It would loosen up the maps and allow for much more creative and more importantly, much more exciting gameplay. The only other requests I could hear from many players were certain guns that were being abused in these gamemodes. I believe the guns could use adjusting but as for Titans, I believe they need not any major changes. The Recluse: As many of you have probably seen throughout your Crucible experiences, the Recluse is a major issue when the opposition is dedicated to it. With it's ungodly rounds per minute and the amount of damage it does with each shot, (Not to mention the Flinch you receive when you are shot by this Nerf Gun from Hell) It's no wonder as to why this gun is ranked #2 in Kills and usage in the Competitive Gamemode. The MountainTop: A lesser known issue but still one that is understandably frustrating to fight against. A grenade launcher that gives you two grenades to fire off, usually doing almost 80% of your health and shield, (when aimed within 45 degrees of a Guardian) which is quickly followed up by any old automatic rifle. While the MountainTop only needs a general sense of how to aim, Snipers require you to either A:) Hit both Bodyshots or B:) Hit a precise Headshot. to output the same damage as one of these grenade lancher grenades. As for Shotguns, they are almost immediately outclassed by grenade launchers in the fact that Shotguns are at least forced to get up close and personal to their kill before pulling the trigger. In Conclusion, I truly believe that Bungie is on the right track with this update, something that I've heard is compared to Crota's End and the general excitement that ensued. If you read this all the way through then please leave a note or a comment, I would love to hear more from this beautiful community. and remember,
Eyes up Guardian
• If you look at the previous post bungie made, they're looking into changing heavy in comp. They said that they want heavy in the game to encourage nap control instead of people just camping in the back not willing to move. On the topic of recluse and all these other guns, the meta is whatever gun is the easiest to use. It takes no brain power to use stuff like recluse, mountaintop, wardcliff coil, one eyed mask, etc.
