I just hope it has a bit more of a story than the first. I still have no idea why I'm killing half these things or why they want to kill me, let alone that whole spiel with Frampt vs Kaathe.

  • You are a means to an end, whether you like it or not. The 4 kings have been corrupted. The Witch of Izalith and her daughters have been distorted. Seath the Scaleless has gone mad. Nito's power was sapped by the crazed pinwheel servant. And Finally, Gwyn, supposed Lord of Sunlight and a Zues-figure has offered his soul and hollowed out himself, after his family, children, and kingdom have left him. Your job is to dispose of these once great beings. Whether you offer your soul to keep the flame burning just a little longer or let the flame die, the Age of Fire WILL end, and the Age of Darkness, of Man, WILL come. The only choice of ending is whether or not you want to be at the helm of the coming of the Age of Dark.

  • The first one does have a story, you just have to look into it. The reason the normal enemies try to kill you is because they have gone hollow (meaning they are insane and bloodthirsty) and even each boss has their reason to kill you. Frampt v Kaathe has to do with the different ways of dealing with the fading of the flame. Frampt believes linking the flames will prolong the age of fire, and Kaathe believes you are to usher in the age of Dark (aka the Age of Men)

  • I get that they've gone hollow, but hollows don't attack each other? And with Kaathe, yeah he wants you to usher in an age of man (though I don't know what his deeper motives are, maybe to end the dark sign.) But my problem with him is actually finding him. I only found him because I looked into it. But how many people are actually going to go straight to the Four Kings after getting the Lord Vessel without talking to Frampt? And with the Lord Vessel, I get that it needs the lord souls so you have to kill Seath, Nito, the Four Kings, and the Bed of Chaos, but I can't find any way justify killing Nito (or Gwyndolin, but that's something else.) Nito hasn't gone insane like Seath, nor is he corrupted like the Kings or the Bed. I dunno, all I know is that I'll never trust Frampt... so damn ugly...

  • I'd recommend EpicNameBro and VaatiVidya for some great lore/story videos on Youtube.

  • I've watched EpicNameBro :b He's the reason why I trust Kaathe over Frampt.

  • I don't really trust either of them because I believe they are both only using you for their own agendas. Just look at what Kaathe did to the Four Kings of New Londo and the fact that Frampt treats every single undead who ever rang both bells as the Chosen Undead.

  • And you never get to see the rest of their bodies... I just always thought that after bringing in the age of man, you could eventually kill off the primordial serpents. But I thought that the Abyss corrupted the Four Kings? This game has more speculation than the ending of Mass Effect 3 >.<

  • I believe Ingward mentions a serpent when talking about the corruption of the Four Kings. Also, the primordial serpents are from the Abyss, so either way I guess the Abyss did corrupt them.

Wait, wait, wait... The serpents are from the Abyss? But what about Manus? Thank you. Thank you for confusing me even more. And y'now what, it is Ingwad that says something about a "toothy maw," isn't it? Huh...

  • The story of Dark Souls is actually REALLY intricate, deep, and interesting. The thing is that, like the game, nothing is given to you. You have to search for the story if you want to understand it. That is definitely something cool. If you want to know about the story, click here. I've always found these videos very interesting. He's very good at explaining and I find them entertaining.
