Iron Sights or no Iron Sights?

Simple question, do you think Destiny will have iron sights when it comes out? Or do you think the gun play will be similar to that of Halo's? Obviously you cannot say anything with certainty with what they have given us thus far. They gave us a first person perspective with no HUD elements. So make a guess, do you think Bungie will stick with Halo's gun play or go down the more modern FPs route? I personally vote iron sights. Whoever is right when the game comes out gets a special present from me ;)

I think it should be based on how well you play. Bad players get stuck with iron sights, players who do slightly better get bronze sights, the good players get silver sights, and the really good players get gold sights. That way it encourages people to play better. Who can complain with that?

    • please no, why make an awesome environment if half of it gets covered up by the sites on your gun?

      • i am personally for NO iron sites for this game although it wouldn't bother me to much to have them added in. It would add the effect of being a more laid back adventurous game if it didnt have iron sites, but i think there should OF COURSE be sniper sites and sites you can add onto certain guns that enable sit seeing

      • I would prefer ADS, but in the style of the game Brink. It allows both hip-fire and ADS to be a viable choice. If you prefer close range (0-20 meters) then hip-fire. Anything beyond ADS. It should be tailored to play style. BTW: I say iron sights, also.

      • I'm hoping it goes into iron sights, but please don't make the gun useless without them. I've noticed that games sacrifice accurate fire from the hip in order to have iron sights. Iron sights also usually slow you down, which basically means that you can't shoot and move at the same time. Well, you can, but you can't expect to hit anything.

      • Hm. I don't think so. I hope not anyway. I prefer halos method of zooming in. And, if they keep most of the basic gameplay mechanics going(Don't fix what isn't broken) then I'd say it'll be your usual halo zoom-in. Just me feels on the matter.

        • I don't want them to be doing things "the Halo way" but rather what they think fits with the new gameplay and universe. A lot of us here are likely to say no iron sites because we like Halo so much, it's something we are very used to. But I don't want them to be carrying any legacy stuff from a 10+ year old game. Start from scratch with everything. Better Ai, character movement, jumping. That being said, the looks of the scopes in the 20 seconds of gameplay looked to me like they will go the iron sight route. But I'm sure they won't make "shooting from the hip" a choir.

        • Personally, I'd rather they stick with something more in Halo's vein. There are plenty of ironsights games with the 'left trigger to aim' mechanic or something similar out there and I personally think it restricts gameplay a bit (ironsights + jumping around/moving fast doesn't go good together in my experience). I just don't really like it. It wouldn't be a deal-breaker, but I'd be lying if I said it wouldn't be a slight disappointment. I'd think Bungie would want to stay away from that if they're out to innovate. On a related note, I remember seeing a set of crosshairs that looked really similar to the Reach AR at one point in the video (not the gameplay part, around 3:54). Personally, that looks like an 'aim from the hip' set of crosshairs, not ADS stuff. Granted, this is really, really early, but I still think it might hold some relevance. I've had enough of the 'aim down sights'/cover-based shooters myself.

        • I'm perfectly fine with either one.
