Players only start interacting with crafting system once they unlock a Pattern, which can take weeks for each weapon. And once they got the crafted weapon they're no longer interested in seeing any more random rolls of it, or don't see it at all because that content is already gone. But there is already a crafting system in game which solves at least the first point. Exotic rotator grants the Exotic with Deepsight, focusing which turns non-crafted gun into crafted one, and additional completions unlock perk columns for reshaping. Why not use something similar for all craftable guns? [b]• Each Deepsight focus unlocks a column in order: Col 4 → Col 3 → Mags → Barrels → Masterwork.[/b] This way players start interacting with the system from their first Deepsight, instead of weeks/months after those guns are added. [i](I actually often don't even notice that I got the pattern for a gun, because I stop caring about it by that point, so I'm always surprised when the "Shape" menu starts shining when I come back to Enclave)[/i] Also, players who are okay with just having right utility and damage perks only need to get 2 Deepsights, while players with time to spare can grind more to get their 5/5 god-rolls. [i](We all know the candy of "Grind less" will just make us all grind even more just because optional grind is more alluring than neccesary one) [/i] [b]• Any random roll can be turned into "crafted" version, keeping random perks and allowing changing perks in unlocked columns.[/b] This way, even if you're extremely unlucky with Deepsights, you have a chance to get your 5/5 that escalates the more Deepsights for the gun you already have. [i](Make us pay an Ascendant Alloy or something for that - even if it looks steep, it would be worth it)[/i]
