This season feels strange. I always could reach mythic 2, so after everyone in my clan, that struggled to climb up to fabled before, told me how easy comp is now, i assumed i could finally reach legend. But no, no, no, its harder than ever and i am stuck at mythic 1 this time. How can that be? I am not the best player, i have a 1,3 kd, but if clanmates with a 0,6 kd can reach legend, while only using shouldercharge and being the top player in their matches, i have to question the system.

Reaching legend no longer requires skill, just grind. This seasons comp is akin to playing pee wee basketball (your friends playing other 0.5 kd players) while being able to rank at the top of the NBA (ranked at legend). I have played comp solo extensively (probably about 1700 games) and have been up to mythic 3 multiple times solo and legend once with a team and have never seen this kind of disparity in skill between teammates because we are no longer matched on rank but on some sort of team balancing algorithm. My last game to legend, I had to carry the shit out of my teammates. One of them was below 500 glory with 10 or 20 matches played in comp. Barely won 4-3. So my advice, don't give up because you can do it and be prepared to carry.

So yo must be in the top 10-5% playerbase then. Not everyone magically gets to play against people of our own skill or less. Some players end up playing against the top top tier players!

I'm pretty average and what you mention does happen in comp because Bungie is balancing by total team skill, so essentially you may have 2 beginners and a pro playing against 3 average players. This setup is not fun for any of the parties involved. That's why I propose to either bring bank purely ranked based matchmaking so that players can gradually fall into their skill brackets, or have normal sbmm with classes like bronze to diamond as I mentioned above.
