Every activity needs OPTIONAL matchmaking, from patrol zones to raids. Everyone should be able to decide whether they want to play solo or with people for every activity.

Agreed. Not to mention that despite some elitists' skepticism regarding the ability of non-communicating rando blueberries to be able to complete a Raid via a randomly matchmade team, I'd argue that it's a fundamental flaw of Raid designs to begin with, because if Raids had a training mode, or even bots which teach you the mechanics of the Raid as you play it, that would exponentially increase the number of players who would have an opportunity to learn the Raid without the help of players, so that if they choose to join an LFG, they would already have some clue as to what to do. Right now, there are zero in-game resources to help new players navigate Raids or know what to do, which forces players to sit around watching YouTube videos or spend hours with an experienced team who've already done the Raid to death, to do it many more times for hours just to teach new players the basics. It's a waste of time for everyone involved, although more power to the Guardians who are willing to take on that grueling task. Well-programmed AI bots, on the other hand, could easily be a form of active participating tutorial, which would be handy particularly for people who learn best by doing, rather than by watching.
